Relax and unwind in your own private setting. This unique property is located in the gorgeous Huntington River Valley - just over the hill from major ski resorts, yet totally removed in attitude and energy - and much closer to Burlington. If you want to have access to all the restaurants and amenities that Burlington and the ski friendly Mad River Valley offer, yet retreat to your own private world at the end of a day - this is the spot for you.
Situated on over eight private acres (and backing up to hundreds more of state forest), with not a neighbor in sight - the setting will bring you serenity and peace. The interior has been decorated by artists and built by local craftspeople - so you'll feel part of the unique culture of Vermont. Huntington is a wonderful town, close to Burlington, Vermont's largest city, with theatres, restaurants, colleges and great shopping - yet retains its small town charm and bucolic farming tradition.
In summer, there is a large sunny deck with chairs and tables for reading or eating while listening to the sounds of birds and the rush of a nearby waterfall. A hammock hangs among the sweet smelling pines in front of the house. The deck also has a traditional wood-fired hot tub to relax in enjoy and watch the stars from at night.
High speed wireless internet allows you to stay connected to the outside world if that will make your vacation more relaxing. There is an apple computer to check your email, make an internet call to your jealous friends or do research on area attractions and activities.
The large bath was completely remodeled in 2006 and includes an antique medicine chest, a large restored clawfoot shower-tub with a view of the surrounding hills, designer glass tile and bamboo flooring.
In summer, take a leisurely drive (the nearest traffic light is 15 miles away) to some of the wonderful organic farms and farmers markets for fresh Vermont produce and dairy and cook a fantastic meal in the large well-equipped gourmet country kitchen with dishwasher. You can create a feast here - or a simple country breakfast. Or choose from many fine restaurants in the area, like Mary's in Bristol.
More great restaurants using local ingredients are available in Richmond, Bristol, Burlington and Warren or Waitsfield - all within 20 minutes from the property (except Burlington, which is 35 mins).
In winter, ski out the front door and enjoy cross-country delights for hours. Or hop in your car for a short drive to the "majors." Sugarbush is 20 mins from the front door. Stowe is 45 mins away, Mad River Glen just 10 mins away. Return home to a crackling glass-front woodstove and pop your favorite CD in the player or hook up your ipod to the stereo with provided cable. Relax and enjoy! Ten million times better than a hotel!
Email with questions - please check online calendar for availability - it is kept updated at all times. Submit all rental requests via this site, please, as it helps us keep track of guests in a consistent manner.
Something cool - this house is powered by Cow Dung! Not a joke - through a special program with the local electric utility, electric power used in the house is generated through a special program that partners with local dairy farms to use their cow waste to generate electricity. Google "cvps cow power" for more info.

A great retreat from a busy life. It was adventure indoors! This is a great find! You would think that you were totally isolated but a few yards away, you can see cars passing by. For those city folks needing some time off but not wanting to go completely off radar but still have the luxury to go to very cool places like Burlington, Stowe and ofcourse our neighbors, CANADA.. This is the place to be. The wifi helps to be connected from the outside world while the warmth of the wood stove completely envelops you! The outdoor hottub was amazing against the cold air and as Steven says its pretty magical in the winter! Thanks for an amazing stay!

The pictures of this house do not do it justice! It has a very large and comfortable living room downstairs with lots of light and a warm wood burning stove. My boyfriend, myself and our puppy spent the weekend relaxing by the fire, taking beautiful hikes in the surrounding woods and cooking up some of the best fresh produce from nearby farms. It is a great retreat from the city and a perfect spot if you like to enjoy the outdoors with a nice warm place to come home to at night. Also spend time taking in the proprietor's music and travel book collection ... a great spot for a great price. Thanks for our fun weekend!

We spent the weekend at Steven's house and it could not have been more perfect. The house is situated between excellent hiking at Camel's Hump (the real deal, prepare!) as well as being close to Burlington where we spent the day and had a great dinner. One gets more than just a taste of life up there with visit. An awesome weekend spent and well worth it, thank you Steven!

A beautiful house in a truly magical setting with everything you could want for a relaxing escape. We had a wonderful few days that went by far too quickly. The highlights were the hottub, the hammock and swimming at the waterfall across the road. Highly recommended!!
