Paradise is BEACHFRONT on the Northeast Shore/Ka‘a’awa
This is Hawaii as you dreamed… this spectacular oceanfront Polynesian cottage must be seen to be believed. Located between Turtle Bay Resort and Kaneohe Bay on the northeast shore of Oahu this stretch of pristine white sand beach is enfolded in the arms of the Koolau Mountain range, and stretches 300 feet before you reach another home.
This home was completely rebuilt, a beautifully appointed one bedroom, one bath plantation style home features a folding door system that opens the entire front of the home to the dining deck that is inches from the sea. The tropical living area is enhanced by an attractive woven bamboo ceiling and ceiling fans. Take a moonlight swim and shower in comfort in our outdoor hot water shower, under the stars.
There is one double pune'e (Hawaiian style sofa/sleeping daybed) and a single pune'e in the living area, and a king in the bedroom complete with feather bed for maximum comfort. We can accommodate two singles in the bedroom upon request.
All linens for the kitchen, bedroom, bath and beach are supplied as well as a nice compliment of amenities such as soaps, shampoos, etc. There is a washer/dryer on the property for your use.
The fully equipped kitchen has beautiful granite countertops, nice appliances, and is fully stocked with cooking, serving and kitchen aids as well as spices and general use refrigerator items.
The view from the deck is a sight to behold through the coconut trees to one of Oahu’s most identifiable historic landmarks, Chinaman’s Hat Island. This site is where the great Polynesian Voyaging canoe, Hokule'a, was first launched in 1976, proving that the Polynesians did indeed navigate by the stars from the South Pacific, first reaching the Sandwich Islands (Hawaii) from over 2400 miles around 400 AD.
Can we describe our beach that stretches the length of a football field in one direction and in the other you can walk several miles through Kualoa State Park to the site of a huge ancient Hawaiian fishpond. Watch spectacular sunrises from the deck, sunbathe on the beach or watch the divers and fishermen and perhaps try your hand at “catching dinner local style”. You can see turtles, rays and the occasional surfer from the deck or snorkel in our coral preserve.
Right in front of the house is a lovely "menehune" fish pond which is a delight to everyone, especially to the little ones at low tide.
The atmosphere is country, but you are close to restaurants and conveniences, and 30 minutes from Honolulu. Located minutes away from world famous North Shore attractions such as the Hauula hiking trails, the Polynesian Cultural Center, Turtle Bay Resort and Golf Course, Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay and some of the last unspoiled Hawaiian style towns on Oahu. A little inside information for you golfers … the nearby Kuhuku Golf Course where half the holes on this municipal course have an ocean view starts at $20 for green fees and it goes down from there!
Directly across the street is the 4,000 acre, magnificent Kualoa horse ranch offering trail rides, jungle tours, and Paniolo (Hawaiian) BBQ’s, or just visit the beautiful horses at your back door. The ranch has been the site of many movies including "Jerrasic Park" and "King Kong". You can see this stunning property on the ranch movie set tours.
As with many oceanfront homes, the road that circles the island is located behind the house and may provide some traffic noise at different times of the day.
E KOMO MAI (You're welcome) We look forward to seeing you soon...

Why the Owner Chose Kaaawa
I was driving around the island with visitors and we spotted a "For Sale" sign on the beach. ...ONE STEP on the sand and we were awestruck by the incredible beauty of KUALOA!
The sacred legend of these mountains... Hawaiian warriors always tip their paddles as they go by KUALOA as this is where their great chiefs (Ali'i) are buried.
THIS IS THE PLACE, PARADISE!

The Unique Benefits at this House
PARADISE is located almost exactly in the center of the island, and although you are close to stores, restaurants, Kaneohe town and all the creature comforts, you are across the street from Kualoa Ranch, a 4,000 acre working cattle and excursion ranch.
K'a'a'awa is "being in the country" for "locals" because it has that special relaxed Hawaiian feeling. You can easily reach almost anywhere on the island from PARADISE as it is about halfway between the North Shore and Waikiki. Guests say that they have to force themselves to get out and see the sights because nothing compares to their experience in PARADISE!
Owner's Map of Kaaawa
I am a Keiki O Ka Aina, translated as a child of this land as my ancestories migrated here from the South Pacific centries ago and became the first native people. I have a history with this unimaginably beautiful site as my Grandfather and Great grandfather before him fished here.
The feeling of PARADISE is ohana(family)beauty, music and warmth. You will almost be able to hear the sounds of my Hawaiian trio, KUALIOA (the name for this area)as we play music by the sea. You will relax, be refreshed and feel you belong here and never want to leave. Coming back will feel like coming home... E Komo Mai (Welcome)

We are still married so that must be a sign. :-) We spent a week here in November 2008 and the property was great. The view is spectacular and location is awesome. We went 4 wheeling in the state park across the street. We were a short car ride from the Pipeline surf contest. We at the Shrimp Trucks. This place made us feel we were on another planet yet living like a local! I am writing this review now as we are planning on coming back later in the year and would love to stay here again. See you soon. Mike & Stacey

Beautiful beach cottage steps from the ocean. Very clean. Better than the photos show. Hana is an attentive owner and goes the extra step to assist her guests in planning a great vacation. Great kayaking and hiking trip to and around Chinaman's Hat. Location is ideal for those desiring the non-city life vacation but is close enough to drive to most everything. A quiet and private home except for the hwy 83 road noise (the road is VERY close to the house), which only becomes an issue if one is to sleep in living room and have the windows open for air ventilation, but something that earplugs easily addresses. The road noise didn't even register on my radar at any other time. Mornings are spectacular, so plan on being up before the sun rises. There are plenty of great North Shore finds such as the Macadamia Nut Farm, Kuuloa Ranch across the street, Haleiwa (shaved ice, farmer's markets and road-side stands for finding delicious, fresh, inexpensive food), and a rain forest hike within 2 miles. Snorkeling in the waters just off home weren't the best for us (maybe the time of year), but other locations are available. Our best hike was a three hour excursion into the mountains that just sit behind Waikiki. Take H1 E. Right at Pu'u'ikena Drive @ Kawaiku'i Beach Park. Head up hill to guard. They will direct you in or to a separate entrance for non-hawaiian residents. Don't miss this one if you're into hiking - spectacular views of the entire island! I would definitely return to "Paradise" again and again - it's just a wonderful experience. The upsides completely outnumber the few downsides: road noise, poor kitchen lighting at night if you plan to cook, and no internet service (which could have really come in handy to search for Island activities). Thank you Hana for sharing your slice of paradise! A memory I'll never forget. Elle

The description is accurate; the photos do not do this property justice; the property was clean, homey, and had everything we needed; the owner answered all of our questions and concerns and was pleasent to deal with; I would most definitely encourage anyone to visit the Paradise cabin. We rented this cabin for one week and were not disappointed. I just LOVE the door that opens up to the ocean. This was my first time in Hawaii, and I am so happy to have chosen this rather than a busy and crowded condo. We invited friends over and BBQ'd on the grills that were provided to us on the property. The yard was well kept and all lawn furniture was clean and comfy. We very much enjoyed waking up to the beautiful sunrise and drinking our coffee out on the porch. I cannot even use words to describe how content I felt during our stay. Even when my purse was stolen and we didn't leave the key in the lock-box as recommended, the owner still went out of her way to get us a new key. We were both Active Duty Military on R&R from Afghanistan and she even gave us a discount. On the last night we were there, James proposed to me, so we will never forget our Paradise cabin! THANK YOU for everything!!!! Char and James, 24 Sept - 30 Sept 2011 Clarksville, TN (Kandahar, Afghanistan)

We were very excited about this house from pictures. I will say this: POSITIVES: the house has a nice view, fully stocked with spices,pots/pan,dishes/cups,has a charcoal and gas bbq, tiki torches, hammock tied between to palm trees, nice landscaped yard, no neighbors on either side. The whole front side of the house opens up which gives you a nice breeze throughout the house. Has tv,ipod docking station and a telephone. NEGATIVES: the road noise was very distracting to us. The main H1 Highway is within a few feet of the back of the house--we heard road noise, tour bus's and speeding cars from about 9 am to 9 at night. For me, this was a dissapointment--it was hard for me to relax and forget about the usual hustle and bustle when there were cars roaring by. Also, the bed was a little firm for both of us- not too bad but def not what we would call " comfortable". There is a public beach access point to the left of the house- we had fishermen setting up their supplies on the rock wall to our rental and kids swimming in the reef right in front of the house. We really enjoyed lighting tiki torches, bbqing, laying on the hammock, taking the kayaks out on the ocean bay--watching sunrise & the bright moons twinking off the water. Although we were not happy with the road noise, we had a blast here. There is also boogy boards there, however there really isnt any waves at this calm part of the ocean bay.
Owner response:As there is only one road around Oahu at this point, it must be noted that the road is there as I say on my website. Otherwise, PARADISE IS PERFECT. Guests who have noticed, quickly forget in light of the rest of Paradise's perfection!

This was a fun little place to spend the second half of our vacation! Nicely outfitted with flat screen tv and even an ipod player, but we enjoyed the yard and the lanai most - the hammock was heavenly! Cute little place, immaculately clean. The roosters in the morning ensure that you wil not sleep too late and miss any part of the lovely day! We enjoyed the kayaks and the beach, the privacy and the central location for our many adventures on the island. Had a great dinner with good music at the Crouching Lion - nice view from this restaurant, too! Our one caveat was the road noise - we found it quite distracting and actually alarming, as the speed limit is posted as 35 mph, but I don't believe anyone was actually doing the speed limit - I certainly wouldn't allow a child to cross the street without an adult holding on to them. Cars were pretty much roaring by for several hours in the morning and again in the evening. Too bad, because this is a well-maintained little cottage, romantic and with a great view and amenities if you can overlook the road proximity!
Owner response:I appreciate the great review of the cottage. Happily the road noise comes and goes and the greatest majority of guests loose themselves so completely in the beauty of PARADISE and the surrounding area that they barely take any notice of traffic.

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon for 11 days (Feb 13 - 24, 2011) and it was so wonderful. The pics online only show a little of the amazing wonders that this property has to offer. Every morning we would wake up the the beautiful sunrise and drink our coffee on the front porch. There were a couple of kayaks that we used to paddle out to Chinaman's hat, only 30 mins away. We were so thankful to be able to stay here and enjoy this place for our honeymoon. I would definately recommend it to any couple!

We spent a week at the cottage to celebrate our 10th anniversary with our 2 small children. Hana was very helpful and informative in planning our trip. The cottage is beautiful and incredibly well stocked- from toiletries to beach towels to kitchen supplies. It is more spacious than we expected and comes with all kinds of fun things to keep you entertained if the weather outside doesn't cooperate (we had a couple days of bad storms)- from games to books and cable tv- we were able to relax inside while it was pouring outside. But, the rest of the week, we were outside- we particularly enjoyed using the 2 kayaks- our favorite adventure was kayaking with our girls out to China Man's Hat and then climbing to the top. The location is fabulous- beautiful beach with incredible mountains behind- close proximity to many attractions. We enjoyed the luau at the Polynesian Cultural Center, touring North Shore, Waimea Bay, etc. But, there was nothing as enjoyable as just sitting in front of the cottage watching the sea turtles each morning. The only "negative" about the cottage is that a busy road runs directly behind it, so there is road noise- particularly from about 6-10pm as people are going to and from the Polynesian Cultural Center- it doesn't detract from how wonderful this location is, but we were surprised by it since no one mentioned it in their reviews. We would HIGHLY recommend this location. It is the first place that we have visited that we honestly miss now that we are home and would like to return. Thank you for a wonderful week.
Owner response:As always we are so pleased that people had the time of their lives at the PARADISE COTTAGE. We try very hard to make the cottage have all the comforts and even more! I think it is a tribute to the location and cottage itself that although people might notice evening road noise, it is so unimportant in this atmosphere of beauty and delight that no one bothers to comment on it. Come and see us, you will always congratulate yourselves for the best vacation decision of your lives...

We had a thoroughly enjoyable month long stay here. The house was as it was portrayed to be. The house was very clean and very well stocked and equipped. The owner always responded quickly to any questions. The coral gardens directly in front of the house were fabulous. Even saw a sea turtle. I would highly recommend this property.

Thanks so much for sharing your piece of Paradise with the rest of us! We found your beautiful cottage a great place to unwind for 3 nights before joining our cruise. We spent our days snorkeling, walking on the beach, and listening to the local Hawaiian radio station. We took some really good pictures of your cottage that I've posted to my flickr page (simply search under people for Tina's Flickr page). You'll see that we saw some beautiful fish just steps away from your cottage. Thanks for the tip about the grocery store and Haleiwa Joe's in Kaneohe. We had everything we needed. Thanks again!
