Our 2 bed/2 bath home is ten to fifteen minutes from the Big Island's very best beaches. You'll find inviting indoor and outdoor spaces. You'll enjoy a splendid view of the Kohala Mountains, a small ocean view and dramatic colors at sunset. Often Maui (Haleakula) can be seen looming above the horizon.
With lovely furnishings, fully equipped kitchen and beach gear, our guests find everything they need for a great vacation. Located on a quiet cul-de-sac, with mature landscaping, our home is a peaceful private oasis. Along with new bamboo and tile flooring, and a pleasant color palette, you'll enjoy contemporary comfortable furnishings.
Covered breezeway, two shaded lanais and wrap around deck contribute to the wonderful indoor/outdoor character of our home. Exterior spaces re-painted in November 2014, with very inviting new color palette.
A wonderful floor plan for couples or families, our home has 2 bedrooms, each with it's own bathroom, separated by a spacious great room. Pocket doors allow each bedroom/bath to be closed off for privacy. Each bedroom is furnished with a queen bed. The master bedroom has patio doors opening to a covered lanai. The second bedroom opens to a wrap-around deck. The great room, with full kitchen, dining area and living room, opens to a screened lanai for outdoor dining.
You'll find our leather sectional welcoming after a day at the beach or touring the island. If you choose to stay in for the evening, a 42 inch flat screen TV, DVD player and Wi-Fi are available to entertain you.
Ceiling fans, a solar attic fan and good cross ventilation keep our home comfortable. Due to it's high elevation, mornings and evenings tend to be cool and comfortable.
Lounge chairs and built in bench seating are on the deck for your enjoyment. The garden is quite pretty with palms, plumeria, avocado, and banana trees and flowering hibiscus surrounding the lawn.
Towels and bed linen are new and top quality. Beds are quite comfortable. The kitchen, with breakfast bar and adjacent dining area, is fully equipped.
Our kitchen has coffee maker, electric tea kettle, toaster oven, blender, mini food processor, microwave and full sets of knives, cookware and dishes, and glassware. The fridge has ice and water on the door. If you like to grill, a gas BBQ is right outside the screened lanai.
You'll find beach towels, chairs, thermos bags, newer snorkel sets, and boogie boards for your convenience.
A washer and dryer are located in the adjacent garage.
Waikoloa Village has a full service grocery store with bakery, sushi counter and deli. There's also a gas station, coffee shop and a few restaurants. The community offers a pool, golf, tennis and riding stables. All are less than 5 minutes drive from the house.
The Waikoloa pool includes both an adult pool for lap swimming and a large shallow kiddie pool. There are lounge chairs, a shaded area, showers, and restroom facilities.
The Kohala Coast resorts, all about 10-20 minutes drive time, offer a myriad of shopping and restaurant options. At the closest, the Waikoloa Beach Resort, you'll find the King and Queen Shops with boutiques, art galleries and a wide range of dining options. In the early evening, enjoy Hawaiian music and hula. Or skip the shops, and head out to our personal favorite, Lava Lava Beach Club at A-bay (Anaeho'omalu), for the fantastic ocean front atmosphere. Happy hour is from 3-5pm and at sunset the tikis are lit, and the live music starts. It just doesn't get any better.

You'll find driving in our area to be a breeze, roads are great and there's never any traffic. Going to the beach you'll enjoy dramatic views of Mauna Kea and the Kohala mountains.
Centrally located, Waikoloa Village is a great home base for exploring all that the Big Island has to offer. Going north past the beaches you'll find Kawaihae Harbor with a few local restaurants and a great little place to buy fresh fish. Continue up the Kohala Coast to explore the old plantation towns of Hawi and Kapa'a. The Pololu Valley look-out is the end of the road and well worth the drive.
Kona airport is about 35 minutes to the south with Costco close-by. Kailua Kona town is another 10 minutes further south.
Waimea town, Parker Ranch and great Saturday Farmers' Markets are about 20 minutes away.
For further exploring, Saddle Road is about 10 minutes away. Taking the new Saddle Road, it's about an hour to the Mauna Kea Visitor Center and about 1.5 hours to Hilo. Volcanos National Park is under 2 hours away.

About the owner: After working in the San Francisco Bay Area for 20 years, we retired to the Big Island in 2010 to pursue our dreams. We raise sheep and grow veggies and fruit on a small farm on the Hamakua Coast just north of Hilo.

Why the Owner Chose Waikoloa Village: We purchased our Waikoloa Village vacation home because of it's wonderful year round weather and proximity to our favorite beaches Kohala Coast beaches. We enjoy swimming in the turquoise waters, snorkeling among sea turtles, tropical fish and colorful coral reefs. Picnicing, lounging and reading on the beach all come in a close second.
We're drawn to the home's inviting indoor/outdoor spaces. At day's end, we're on the lanai with cool drinks in hand watching the sunset colors unfold. We enjoy the mature tropical landscaping with palms, plumeria and avocado and banana.
We like having a house rather than a condominium. The location on a quiet cul-de-sac feels private. Our neighbors are full time residents. While our home is located only 35 minutes north of the Kona airport and Costco, we appreciate being away from the congestion of Kailua-Kona.
