I booked this cabin as a surprise for my husband. We took another couple with us. This cabin was just barely perfect for us. The cabin is super cute, easy to locate, centrally located and super close to snow summit. The accommodations were nice, the owner definitely went above the call of duty on providing the common comforts of a home and the jacuzzi was awesome! Neighborhood was great too and just a short walk to the lake. I gave the rental a 5 because I really enjoyed our time there, however, if half stars were available, I may have given it a 4.5 for two reasons: It's "cozy" because it's smaller than it looks in the pictures. My husband is 6'7" so he's used to being able to touch the ceiling, however, I'm 5'8" and I didn't even have to reach to touch the ceiling in some areas of the house. I wouldn't rent this cabin for more than 4 people. The bathroom is not only pretty small but it's the only one and it's literally next to the main bedroom. So, if someone gets up in the middle of the night, you can hear everything. The same with the kitchen, it's also small. Great for people that aren't planning to make too many meals, however, we could hardly have two people in there trying to cook. Not a huge deal, especially since, the appliances offered were all very good. Detail was definitely paid attention to, so even though there were some compromises, it didn't feel like a disappointment. The second and really only substantial complaint is the trash situation. We were asked to take the trash, we accumulated during the stay, to one of two dumping sites. Both places were provided to us, addresses, and all the contact info we would need, so that was nice. However, when you have a car full of luggage and people, last thing you want is a bag of trash sitting in the car as you're on your way out of town and having to stop and dump it. I've not stayed in a private owned cabin in Big Bear before, only hotel/lodges but the ones I've rented in Mammoth never had me do this, so I'm not sure if this is standard for Big Bear or not, but I wasn't fond of it. It wouldn't stop me from renting here again, the pros far outweighed the cons! I would just prepare differently knowing that information. Overall, the whole process from start to finish was a positive one. The owner was very professional and quick to respond to any questions I had. We felt very comfortable here and we had a great time! It really was like a home away from home!

Owner response: Thank you Natassia for your review. Yes, Big Bear City requires we pack it in, we pack it out. The term "cottage" is used to relay the message it is a cute, small, cobblestone home. Like a knoll house. I will make a note for all future bookings that anyone over 6 feet may need to duck in soon rooms. Sincerely, Frances

This cabin was even better than I could have ever imagined! Everything was perfect, and the location was exquisite. Frances was super friendly and wonderful the whole way through, and everything was very well kept (and well stocked!) and beautiful. The cabin was clean and tidy and the spa was unbelievable. Also, the gas grill was ready for action, and there was even a reserve tank of fuel just in case. On our trip, we had the benefit of seeing the cabin in both the snow and in the dry, and it was just awesome. In addition to all of the beautiful surroundings in Big Bear, the cabin featured high-speed internet and TV, which made staying in all the more cozy during the snow. The fireplace and the massive tree which the deck that surrounds it also added a significant amount of charm and peacefulness to the cabin; almost like something out of one's imagination. With regard to convenience, you are a stone's throw from the main road where all of the shopping for miscellaneous convenience items can be done, and almost anything that you might want is 5 minutes away by car. All in all, a truly a wonderful experience and must during any season! We will be coming back for sure.

Loved this property! Looks exactly as pictured, maybe a little smaller than expected but having said that the size of rooms was fine, the bathroom being quiet small but then how long do you need to spend in there...lounge room has great comfy couch and is nice a relaxing room. House was well presented and clean on arrival. Spa works great and was so nice to use in the evening, there is also a BBQ which worked great too. The kitchen had everything we needed with good sized fridge. The location is so perfect overlooking the ball park, we hung out on the back deck watching the locals play ball 3 nights which I LOVED, not something we would see at home, hanging in the spa watching the games - AMAZING! I wanted to feel like we lived in Big Bear (love this town!) hence not staying in Northwoods again and this was the icing on the cake, just wish we could bring our dogs to America on holiday lol. House is located on a really nice street, beautiful area to walk / jog, took approx 25 mins to walk to the village and prob about the same to walk the other direction to Vons, Starbucks etc, morning and evening walks are a must here! The house doesn't have a washing machine which I had just assumed it would but no worries, there is a laundromat near Vons which is super cheap, Vons is a great place to shop for groceries and you can become a member and get the member prices which is great. Big Bear Alpine Zoo is a must to visit, great to see these guys saving these animals and giving them a home :) hiking in Big Bear is another must do, awesome views and great clean air. The owner had great communication in replying to my queries prior to booking and then emailed detailed info a week prior to checking in. We will be back in 2015 and will be locking this house in for our time in Big Bear :) This is the first time we have ever rented a private home always using hotels and having now tried this I highly recommend it!

My family and I rented this Cabin in the summer time and was absolutely the finest visit. The cabin reflects a clean and very charming mountain feel. The property was well maintained and it was only a short walk to the lake and park. The hot tub was a spectacular luxury that provided a very relaxed atmosphere and was located on a well-structured deck that was built around a magnificent pine tree that provided comfort and shade for the summer days. The owner provided excellent service and was very prompt to service the hot tub when needed. We enjoyed the impressive views as well as the location to all the fun filled lake activities including the shops and restaurants at “The Village”. I highly recommend the property and hope to book it again!

My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. It's great to get a whole cabin to yourself! I have small children and they just loved the hot tub. It was like a pool to them HAHA. The park is close (great for my kids), and the "beach" wasn't far either. Great location overall. Stores were very close by (as was the location to take your trash), so if we didn't bring something with us, it was easy to obtain. The Village is a very short drive away. As others have said the deck is great. We ate most of our meals at the picnic table on the deck. There is a gas grill on the deck too, so it was perfect. TVs have HDMI inputs so we were able to hook up our tablet and watch movies using the cabin's WiFi. It was perfect since we rented a couple of movies through Amazon that were loaded on the tablet. Just make sure you bring a cable! I think the only suggestion I would make is that some of the windows could probably benefit from having screens. Other than that it was perfect. I understand a previous reviewer's comment about the location of the bed (I noticed the same thing when we got there), but I can see why it was placed there. It's a small room, and really it made the most sense to have the bed where it was, in order to maximize floor space in the room. But I can see how its location might be challenging for some folks (I'm small so it didn't bother me). There was a minor mix-up upon check-in, but Frances responded very quickly and remedied it immediately. She obviously cares about taking care of her customers. If we stay in Big Bear again I would not hesitate to rent this cabin from Frances again! Thanks for enabling our family to make some fun memories together Frances!

The cabin reflects the care and love of the owner throughout. This charming property is very well located, overlooking a park and being 2 blocks to the lake it has a view of the lake from the patio. The Village is a short ride away. The cabin is well equipped and was recently renovated. The patio and hot tub are spectacular. The only draw back was the single bathroom! I highly recommend the property and hope to book it again next year!

I would definitely recomend this cabin to others. Everything was clean and well-maintained. We loved the view of Meadow Park and the lake in the distance from the fabulous outside deck. The deck, with the most beautiful juniper tree branching out from it, makes this cabin! I would suggest moving the bed around in the downstairs bedroom. My husband had to crawl over me to get to the bathroom at night. Don't understand why the bed is pushed into that corner of the room.

                              Year Purchased: 2013

About the owner: I live in San Diego with my two golden retrievers. I am a proud mother of two grown daughters, 1 grand-daughter and a new grandson born in May, 2013. Family is very important to me and I wanted to provide a place for all families to enjoy.

Why the Owner Chose Eagle Point:
I have wanted a cabin in Big Bear for over 10 years. The quaintness and location of this cabin was perfect!. I am so in love with the mountains and lake atmosphere, the small quaint town and recreation opportunities. I purchased this cabin in Big Bear Lake to continue a family tradition of gathering often and creating great memories for my girls and grandchildren. I know you will too...it is truly a unique place!

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The location of Eagle's Cottage is perfect! Local baseball games of all ages and families gathering in the park, daily. It's the feeling of being a local while on vacation. Eagle Point offers a great morning or evening walk around beautiful residential homes and marinas. My goldens love the lake only a block away.
