Perfect Appalachian Family Get Away
Perfect Appalachian Family Get Away
Perfect location right on the banks of the Clinch River and less than 10 minutes from Norris Lake. Well maintained cabin with plenty of room for the whole family. Everything you need is provided. The owners we very hospitable and provided us with all the local information from fishing reports to shopping locations. If you are looking for the way to unplug and enjoy the outdoors with your kids you have found a perfect location:) Do keep an eye on the generation reports from the Norris Lake Dam. It has a pretty big impact on the river itself.

Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: A good young guest family, whose young boys had a great time playing in the yard and fishing down by the weir dam. And he is right the TVA generation schedule does control the fishing by wading. However, today the water is off from 10 am till 4 pm so it would be a great day to fish. Just depends on how much rain East TN has had. And in the fall how fast they want to lower Norris Lake. TVA's website does a pretty good job of predicting future flows but is not perfect. However, with all the trails, outdoor areas, marinas, Appalachian Village, etc around there is plenty to do for a week and it sounded like this family did it all. Thanks again for using our cabin and come back when you can.
Listing photos very accurate, comfortable space with plenty of room for larger groups/families, nearby Norris and Clinton,TN picturesque small towns, deck and covered porch overlooking the river, private access to river, located in quiet area while still close to the interstate, room for kids to play inside/out... will definitely stay again!

Owner response: Thanks for the review, it was great to see the family and have ya'll down for the week.
We were the first to rent. Two bedroom with a day bed in the river / bar room. On the river? more like over the river, I mean you could roll down to the water. The cabin had just been gutted and remodeled, so everything was NEW. But still looks like a traditional fishing cabin. Screened in porch was great too.. Only a few minuets to Norris and a litttle grocery store with the best steaks, or Clinton's Walmart on 75 if you prefer. I am a Trout Unlimited member and the cold clear stream is beautiful and caught a few rainbows. we were about an hour from Pidgeon Forge and 30 min from UT Knoxville, and 20 from Oak Ridge .

About the owner: Just remodeled, this hardwood floored home is warm and inviting. A place I would take friends and families to fly fish or crank bait for rainbow, brown and brook trout. The screened porch is my favorite place to watch the Egrets, ducks, geese, McKinsey boats, canoes, kayaks and fishermen go down the river, or the fishermen walk on the dry bottom when the water is off.
Why the Owner Chose Andersonville:
A Flyfisherman's dream home on the river bank and a great retreat to relax and fish when the Dam is not Generating. A family friendly location that offers river access, Norris Lake Marina with rental boats 5 miles away, and many historical sites to visit old Appalachian areas and museums. Historical areas of TVA and Oak Ridge are available within minutes.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The view from the River Room and screened porch convinced us this was a great find. And it is always 5-10 degrees cooler on this river. ON 5/18/13 I hooked two 20 + inch browns today. Time to fish. Got one within 7 feet, the other within two feet. Big teeth same dam hole - heck may of been the same fish! Caught 10 wading. 5/19/13 a Fisherman caught the same 22 inch fish in our hole today and said he pulled a 27 ' out yesterday. We released them all to be caught again.
