We wanted a chance to get away for the holidays. The cabin was very nice, recently updated, clean, and fully equipped. We made several short trips to Waynesville, Asheville, and down the winding road through Pisgah National Forest. The fireplace was quite cozy in the evenings. If you like to do your own cooking, everything is there for you.

Lovely cottage: spotless & modern interior, beautiful view, functional fireplace (for which host provided wood), and a lovely 25 minute drive to downtown Asheville. I highly recommend spending a weekend at this property. Terri is a wonderful host. My expectations were certainly exceededed.

What a wonderful get-away for 2 "mature" women who love to shop and explore the interesting shops, local restaurants and sights. We basically came for a Biltmore/Christmas experience - a short drive away. The cottage met - and even exceeded - all our expectations. It is clear that the owners have paid great attention to every detail from the well appointed kitchen to the Ralph Lauren bedding and the thoughtful warming mattress covers in both bedrooms. They went above and beyond to considering guests' needs. The views, even in the winter, are lovely; we had some beautiful sunrises. We look forward to return visits.

Clean & Modern
We wish we could have stayed longer at this beautiful home in the mountains! Everything was clean and the house is made and furnished in high-quality, modern materials so that it felt like a bit of luxury in a nice, compact (thus affordable) space. It was plenty of room for our family of 4. My favorite part was having an adventure in the river nearby!

Nice place to stay on the NC side of the smoky mountains. In contrast to Gatlinburg, it's much less touristy. Great cottage for reading, cooking, relaxing, and as a base for visiting Waynesville, Asheville and of course the mountains.

We stayed over the weekend and were overall happy with the property. There were a few things broken in the bathroom (shower knob kept falling off the wall, tub wouldn't drain and soap dispenser was broken) but plenty of hot water, nice towels and clean. Beds were comfortable and furniture was nice. We didn't cook much but there were a lot of pots/appliances available. Instruction for using the Direct TV would be helpful. We couldn't figure out how to get it working so we only got a handful of channels - which was okay because we were there to be outdoors anyway. We went hiking on several nearby trails and had dinner at a nice Italian restaurant in Waynesville (can't remember the name, but the menu was included at the property). Terri was very quick to respond when trying to set up our visit and helpful with our requests. Thank you for sharing your place with our family.

Owner response: Happy to hear you enjoyed the cottage and the area overall. The bathroom drain has been cleared, the shower handle tightened and the soap dispenser replaced. We have support staff on-call for repairs and general assistance, including help with DirecTV's many channels. In the future, just let me know during your stay of any issues and we can correct them promptly. Hope to see you again :)
The cabin was fine except that it was missing things like a can opener, extra blankets, measuring cups and bowls. No overhead venting system for the stove proved interesting in that we had to open the door! The guy building the retaining wall and drinking beer was fun to watch as well! NOT! Not our best experience. Might be helpful to put in the paperwork that's emailed the times you may check in, as well. Thank you

Owner response: Hi Peter and Grace, I apologize for your disappointment. The missing kitchen items have been replaced. Extra blankets will be supplied for the fall and winter season. For the cooler summer nights, the beds have heated mattress pads, the fireplace provides a cozy warmth, and the cottage is equipped with central heat/air. Building codes do not require stove ventilation. The ceilings are vaulted with many windows through the open kitchen, dining, and living area. There is also a counter top air purifier for excess cooking smoke/odors. The retaining wall on the side of the cottage is complete and provides a larger area for parking closer to the cottage. Thank you for informing me about the worker. Also thank you for your suggestion to include a reminder of the check-in and check-out time in the entry instructions email. Check-in and check-out times are listed in the rental agreement agreed to at time of booking and payment and also on the listing site. I'm glad we were able to accommodate your noon time arrival and help with your large luggage and box of groceries. Hope you will consider visiting again in the future.

Clean and more than adequate accommodations. Great for golfers. Be sure you can handle stairs to get in the house.

Owner response: Thank you Beth for your review. Yes, it is a great golfer's getaway too. The stairs pictured in the exterior photo are for the entry and exit to the cottage. Once inside, then it is one level living. Thanks for pointing this out for future guests that may have physical limitations with stairs.
The cottage was perfect. The view out the front windows is fantastic. Springdale cottage's location was perfect for seeing all of the attractions in the area. We would definitely come back!

Year Purchased: 2012
About the owner: As a native Floridian, I fell in love with the Smoky Mountains camping with my family as a young girl. When my parents retired they bought a place in the Springdale Country Club community and I really enjoyed the feel of the area and the people. So decided to buy my own place in the same community. I currently work/live in Singapore, however hope to retire at the charming cottage in the heart of the Smoky's. The picture is me (Terri), and my Singaporean partner, Aloyah, in front of the Biltmore House for my 50th birthday in January this year.
Why the Owner Chose Asheville:
While there were several homes to choose from within the Smoky mountains, I chose the Springdale Country Club community because of the beauty of the surrounding mountains (nestled between Cold Mt and Pisgah Mt ranges), the safety of the gated community, the friendliness of the neighbors, the proximity to Waynesville and Asheville, the nature activities nearby along the Blue Ridge Parkway (15min drive), the 10 min walk to the Pigeon River, and the closeness to my parents too!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Within the community, there were several homes for sale. I liked this one best because of the circular structure with panoramic mountain views and the serene yet rejuvenating feeling exuding from the cottage. Its essence is something special and deserves to be shared with others :)
