New Glasgow house description
The Wheatley River Getaway is all about quiet comfort. The house is new, open concept main floor flooded with light. Three bedrooms, two and half bathrooms, laundry room, deck with barbecue and patio furniture. All with superb view overlooking pond (big enough to row a boat in), fields and stream. Room to roam. We have 18.5 acres of land with trail through the trees, croquet court and enough space to whack a golf ball. For the truly indolent, there's a hammock swinging in the shade of the chestnut trees. Your privacy is assured--you can't even see the house from the road.
The master bedroom and bathroom take up the entire top floor; the other two bedrooms are on the bottom level with a full bathroom and access to backyard patio. The rooms also look out over the field and pond. If you're a golf fan, the Glasgow Hills course is just five minutes down the road. Cavendish, Brackley Beach or North Rustico Beach are all within short driving distance. Good restaurants in New Glasgow, Cavendish, North Rustico or Brackley are also just minutes away. Get the best of both worlds--comfort and privacy but near to all the fine things the Island has to offer.

About the owner: I am a semi-retired communications consultant and my wife is a lawyer with the federal Department of Justice. We have two grown children and a dog. We love to travel ourselves and have rented apartments and homes in other countries as a less expensive, more comfortable way to see and experience new places. We are physically active, love to garden, hike, golf, swim and skate but we also enjoy live theatre, movies, music, good food and wine. We like our privacy, the time to enjoy a good book and relax in a quiet, country atmosphere. The Wheatley River Getaway, is the place we go to enjoy all of the above. It is our getaway and our retirement home. Nothing is far away if you want to be busy but it's wonderfully quiet and secluded if you want to just sit back and relax.
Why the Owner Chose New Glasgow:
We love PEI. We love this part of the Island with its beautiful rolling hills. And we love the property itself. You can't even see our house from the road. You have to drive through some trees where you come to an open field sloping down towards a large pond and stream. You can see horses gamboling in the middle distance and occasionally an osprey diving for fish in the pond. The property is bordered by woods, a mixture of large evergreen and deciduous trees. We've created a path through the woods and installed a small rowboat on the pond. The original homesteader planted apple trees and there are several scattered about the property. We built the house with a view to retiring here for several months of the year (we're not quite there yet.). So it's furnished well with a blend of modern and antique furniture. There are lovely views and a large enough property for a sense of calm and privacy but close to all the amenities. No, it's not on the beach but then few homes on this side of the Island are on the beach (because the great sand dunes and beaches of the Gulf shore are part of the Prince Edward Island National Park.) Which is just how we like it. The beaches are pristine and practically endless. We usually pick Brackley Beach which is about eight minutes from the house. And I play golf--the superb Glasgow Hills Golf and Country Club is just a couple of miles down the road. As are a couple of our favourite restaurants (The Pearl, The Old Mill, The Dunes). Why this property? Location, privacy, comfort--all with a fine view.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Unique and beautiful property. Lovely, comfortable home. Fresh and bright. Central location, close to beaches, restaurants, golf hiking etc. Close to Charlottetown.
