What a great time at the Sioux!

We just returned from spending a week in your beautiful home in Big Sky. Our children treated us for our birthdays to a week in Montana. There were 7 adults. We had plenty of space and the house was so well stocked with anything we could need. The weather was delightful in July and the views of Lone Peak were exceptional. There was plenty to do. We went flyfishing with guides from East Slope Outdoors. They were very attentive and a lot of fun. We did the Whitewater Rafting with Geyser for 1/2 day, as well as horseback riding. Yellowstone is just down the road and definitely a worthwhile day trip. We saw a lot of wildlife as the sun was starting to set. We stretched and went to the Grand Tetons in the middle of the week. It was a long trip for a day but the park is spectacular. We are happy that we made the effort. Big Sky is a wonderful place for a vacation. We felt suspended in time and enjoyed every minute of it! Your home is very welcoming and comfortable. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.

Owner response:Thank you so much Judy! My family made our first trip in 2004 and it captivated us so much that we invested in Big Sky first and eventually moved to the Gallatin Valley full time! Tim

Super stay at the Sioux - thanks Tim!

I contacted a lot of properties in Big Sky before booking Sioux Lodge. I was highly impressed and would definitely stay there again. The owner (Tim) was very responsive and informative via email. He even hooked me up with an incredible rental car discount through Enterprise at the airport in Bozeman. He will send you a packet of information about the house and area, which I found very helpful. The house was in excellent condition and fully stocked with towels, paper products, and even some food items like condiments and spices. There were 3 couples and 4 singles, so we fit perfectly in the bedroom layout. The roads were easy access, but the driveway is a little steep, so you may want 4wd in the winter. The double garage helped a lot when we had to replace a flat tire and we thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub every evening. The side facing the mountain was full of windows, which allowed fantastic morning views of Lone Peak. The access trail was convenient, however since Big Sky has virtually no crowd, so we preferred to drive over the parking lot (1/2-mile) at the base in Mountain Village. This way we could stay at Whiskey Jack’s after the lifts closed. You won’t find a better deal this close and certainly not through the resort. Chris Recla

Tim. We has a great time. There was plenty of room for all of us. We cooked most of our meal in the house. The Kitchen had everything we needed. The Living room and Dining area got plenty of use. The sking was great. Lots of Snow, which made up for the lack of sunshine. We found Big Sky and Moonlight Basin to be great Ski Areas. We also enjoyed the Big Bear Bar and Grill. We took over the place, having Cheese Steak Sandwiches and Beer, and competint in our own pool tournement. You have a great place and we enjoyed it. Bill Groff.

Sioux Lodge was warm haven in a winter wonderland of beautiful vistas. The Lodge is beautifully decorated in western themes and completely equipped to be a home away from home; we did bring the Wii, some videos and books. Each room temperature is controlled by thermostat , including the baths which easily handled our large party. We ate out only a few times -- the Sioux kitchen met every need for daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The large crockpot alone was terrific; setting and leaving large stews or chili to be ready for the end of the day. We always had fresh baked cookies or brownies ready--first try forgot altitude adjustments. One trip to Bozeman provided all the foodstuffs needed for our two week stay -- Chevy Suburban was full loaded. The hot tub got a great deal of use. We could be a noisy bunch without the fear of disturbing hotel neighbors -- there is real freedom in that. Big Sky is virtually at the door step, with a trail, a lift one street up or a few minute trip to the Big Sky itself. We most highly recommend the Sioux and Tim Hart's hospitality.

Beautiful..Beautiful..Beautiful

Guest: Rena' (Antigo, Wisconsin)
Date of Stay: 10/04/09 Review Submitted: 05/29/10

I have always wanted to see the mountains and this trip certainly endulged my want. It was beautiful, I think we had neck kinks all week from looking around so much, but then we'd just go sit in the jacuzzi tub or the big hottub and the kinks were gone. A large bull moose came meandering through the property the first day we arrived, which Tim told us he had sitting ready for release when we got there, all for ambience/mood. LOL If you are wanting to see the mountains and looking for a beautiful/comfortable place to stay while seeing them, this is a sure bet. The ride from Bozeman was beautiful as well as the ride to West Yellowstone. Gorgeous! Have camera? Will need! Tim was available when we needed him. There is a local grocery, but limited. Bozeman had larger stores for more shopping, but at least a 20-30 minute drive away. Yellowstone Park was great, but plan some time to drive through it and see everything. I did not realize how big Yellowstone Park actually is. The Grizzly and Wolf center in West Yellowstone was very interesting also. Just an FYI, we stayed in early October and we did encounter quite a bit of snow. It was lovely but pack accordingly. As Siskel and Ebert would say "TWO THUMBS UP"!

Hi Tim The Lodge certainly met all our expectations! What a beautiful house, beautiful view, great weather - we loved the constant variety - lightning and thunder, beautiful clouds, brilliant blue skies, starry nights - quite a change from sunny southern California! I took a picture of Lone Mountain from the master bed my first morning - I could not believe the view even before getting up. My teen-aged sons really enjoyed having the bottom floor to themselves after long days of hiking, biking, rafting, and visiting Yellowstone, and we enjoyed having the space upstairs and on the deck to enjoy the wonderful views. A cute little family of marmots visited us regularly, and on our last evening deer strolled through the yard right next to the deck to have a bite to eat. We would love to visit again sometime, and hope to convince some of our California relatives to join us, as your house would make a great place for a bigger group - 2 families would be very comfortable. It would be great to try Big Sky for skiing, though it might be a bit of a trek for us from LA in the wintertime. Yours, Liz Simmons

We went expecting some nice views, we got TONS MORE!!! We were floored at the beauty that this lovely Lodge has to offer. My family was captivated by the beauty and taken back by the hospitality of Big Sky. We drove from Houston, Texas and took a scenic route that my parents always wanted to do when we were smaller. We loved it and want to go back as soon as we can. There is no place like Texas, except Montana

Hi Tim, Thanks for the return of the security deposit - we did our best not to break anything! We had a great time on our trip to Big Sky. The Sioux Lodge was excellent - we were very comfortable, and enjoyed all the little extras. Thanks for all the detailed touches - the well stocked pantry, hot tub ready to go, Bathrobes in all the closets, Ski boot dryer, all the tools a chef could want to prepare a gourmet meal, CD's and movies, and on and on. We would definitely recommend the Sioux lodge to others heading to Big Sky - Thanks again. Best regards Patrick Molloy

Tim, We are now home and settled back into our home here. Thanks for letting us rent the Lodge. It is indeed a comfortable place. It was wonderful to be there last week over Christmas. Our kids really had a great time. Javan spoke about his secret longing to go to a ski resort and stay and ski with out making the long journey home after a rigorous day of skiing. I think that I also had that same fantasy and it was fulfilled at the Sioux. After a good day of skiing, a prime rib dinner and some fermented drink we enjoyed a dip in the hot tub. Marie was first thrown into the snow and quickly returned to the warmth of the tub. Then she climbed the hill and back to the tub on a dare. Then a snow ball fight ensued with all of us and back into the tub. I do hope that Laurie found the house in order as we exited. Thanks again. Craig Druckenmiller

Hello Tim, I wanted to let you know we had a great time at your home in Big Sky last week. The other family that vacationed with us also loved your home. You and your family thought of everything that someone would need during their stay. On two seperate evenings mule deer came in your yard to feed. We also went horseback riding and whitewater rafting through the Geyser adventures in Big Sky. The guide made the trip so much fun. Tim thank you for having this companies information in the welcome packet you sent out. We would recommend the house for anyone looking for a beautiful and comfortable home to stay in on vacation. We had 4 adults and 3 teenage boys and had plenty of space. It has great views of Lone mountain. We spent two days in Yellowstone and no one wanted to leave the house. We also found on the map that Big Sky has a waterfall and we drove to it just minutes from the house. It is about .8 mile hike back on a very nice trail. When we got to the waterfall my family climbed down the side to the bottom and took beautiful pictures. To anyone looking at this house to stay in for vacation the house is breathtaking when you see it in person. It is decorated and supplied so wonderfully that you will not want to leave during your stay to sight see. We have so many wonderful memories to hold on to and thank you for allowing us to stay in your home to create them. In a few years the boys will be grown up and this is probably our last family vacation before college.

Hi Tim, The family had a wonderful stay at the Sioux Lodge last week. From the moment we walked in everybody was impressed with how beautiful the Lodge was kept. The lodge was stocked with just about every amenity we could ask for. The kids loved it as well and did not want to leave for our planned day trips to Yellowstone. The View of Lone Mountain was spectacular and the weather was perfect. We look forward to making this a regular vacation spot and will highly recommend Sioux Lodge to our friends! Elva Yulatic

Tim, It was a real pleasure to have been able to work with you regarding your fabulous home. Our arrival to your exquisite and wonderfully stocked home immediately put us at ease. We had 8 men . The ages ranged from 40 through 70. Two fathers and the sons plus other close friends. The spaciousness of the kithen, dining room and living room provided great surrounding after a day of skiing. The hot tub got a work-out as well. Bedrooms and individual beds made it easy for everyone to have their own bed. Your responsiveness only added to the feeling that we were guests out for the week. On behalf of my group, THANKS For your hospitality. David Gottlieb

We had a great time at Moonlight and Big Sky. Your home is beautiful. A number of us commented on how you seem to have thought of everything. If we needed something, it was there. Even to the point of packing: It's the night before our flights and we're trying to figure out how much the bags weigh so we don't get hit with the over 50 lb surcharge. The question was raised "Gee, do you think Tim has a scale in here somewhere?" Sure enough, there it was on the shelf in the master bedroom. Just one example. Thanks again. Kris Mowery

Our trip in early September was wonderful. We are from Kansas and our friends are from Florida. The first night when we arrived at sunset we were greeted by a calf moose. It was almost like it was an arranged event for our benefit. A couple of nights later we saw it again (with mom) across the driveway, grazing. On yet another evening we were on the back deck, and a fox made it's rounds around the perimeter. The Sioux Lodge is a great house with all the special amenities needed to enjoy some fantastic views of nature. We can only imagine what a beautiful place it is in the winter season. Tim, I was meaning to write to you tonight, so it was quite a coincidence that you wrote at the same time. Thank you so much for your hospitality! The lodge was absolutely gorgeous; it exceeded our expectations! The setting, the decorating, the amenities - everything was perfect. You had thought of everything - comfortable beds, toiletries, food staples, laundry detergent, even Off and sunscreen! The teenagers enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. My sister had hired a photographer to come out from Bozeman to capture our family reunion. He took some fabulous pictures in the yard and in the meadow next to the deck with the gorgeous mountains and the bluest sky you have ever seen - Big Sky country. We enjoyed hiking the mountains. My 6 year old niece made it to the top! We did the dinner ride with Jake's Horses. I had gone on breakfast rides before, but this was fabulous. The variety of scenery, through the streams and river, ending with a steak dinner - it was all so much fun. (Except for walking after you got off the horse!) It was close enough for us to enjoy a day at Yellowstone and still come back for a glass of wine and relaxing evening under the stars on the deck. We were there during the meteor shower, and couldn't have been in a better location. I think we must have been the closest human beings to it. Everything was absolutely perfect. I have no recommendations for any improvements. Thank you again for the wonderful stay. We will most definitely keep it in mind when we return to Montana. Valerie

Dear Tim, As you know, we are just back from our Montana trip. The two families had a fantastic time and I want to say a huge thank you for your courtesy and attentiveness in making Sioux Lodge a wonderful vacation home that accommodated the needs of two growing families! We have regularly rented vacation homes in the USA and Europe and this was the best for its attention to the little details. All credit to you for caring so much to create a memorable experience. As for the never ending views of mountains and "big sky" - well, I'm sure you would love to be able to take credit for that too! It was truly fantastic. A couple of local high points, apart from never being bored by the scenery and fresh air...Jake's Horses was a big hit. The eight of us took a 2 hour trek through the beautiful country and some of us went back a few days later for more. We all took the whitewater rafting trip through Geyser Whitewater Rafting on 191. The guides were great fun and we had some professional photos to bring home as souvenirs to prove we actually did it! The vacation might be over but the memories will live on. Best Regards Karen Philbin

Tim (and the rest of the Hart family): We had a great time at the Sioux Lodge - it was the perfect location for our family vacation! The upstairs and downstairs living space was terrific - gave the kids and adults space to spread out. The stocked kitchen was fantastic - instead of running to the store every day to pick up that ingredient that you forgot - chances were - it was already in the pantry. As previous guests have said -the VIP parking pass was fantastic. The girls were treated to an amazing day of skiing our last day there - 8 inches of fresh powder and the 6th chairlift up the mountain. Wow! We did a daytrip into Yellowstone with Yellowstone Tour Guides - had a great time - the snowcoach was perfect for the 11 of us - including 5 kids - the fee included pick-up and drop-off at the door of Sioux Lodge and the price couldn't be beat. The dogsledding at Moonlight Basin was not to be missed - really a highlight of the trip. The discount at Enterprise was also very good - for the midsize SUV they had the best price around and were able to match a heavily discounted rate at Hertz for a full size SUV. We really don't have any complaints or suggestions - the Sioux Lodge is a home away from home with a great location in a terrific ski resort. We hope to get back to Big Sky again sometime soon! Have a great spring! Doug Sheafor

Sioux Lodge was perfect for our vacation. We had one of our teen-aged sons and another couple who are friends of ours. Having two separate sitting areas, two bedrooms with their own bath, the bunk room with Playstation, the kitchen stocked with basics, the washer-dryer, the grill on the fabulous deck (though we didn't get to use it because we were so busy everyday!), the hot tub (which we did use several times), and the absolutely wonderful view of Lone Mountain--I could go on and on. My husband and I were lucky enough to get the master suite with a balcony and a jacuzzi tub. We could not have asked for a better spot with those great views of the mountains to wake up to every morning. And, the moose and mule deer in the mornings were a treat! Thank you, Tim, for a wonderful home base for our exploration of the beautiful Big Sky area. Darlene

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Sioux Lodge and the many amenities you have provided. Parking at Summit is a real plus making getting on/off the slope effortless; certainly as good as ski in/out. Even the minus below temperature didn’t “freeze” our enthusiasm as we toured Yellowstone on snowmobiles dodging buffalo enroute to Old Faithful. All in all it was a great week and we are all ready to come back to Big Sky and Sioux Lodge.Thank you for going “above and beyond” in your effort to make Sioux Lodge a special place. Ron Stoops

Tim: I had an AWESOME time staying in your lodge. I could not have asked for anything more in a vacation home. My friends and I had a trip full of memories that will stay with us forever. AMAZING. It is hard to fathom everything found in your house. I truly felt like I was living in a mountainous home, with every little piece of furniture, trinket, and art all confirming my pre-existing thoughts, views, and stereotypes of Montana. Simply beautiful. Not to mention the best skiing I've ever had and Yellowstone being so close by, I truly can not wait until I can take this trip again. I really would like to make this trip again, during the summer. I would love to see Yellowstone in a warm season, and spend entire days fly fishing the Gallatin. Now THAT is a vacation. I have traveled extensively in my life, here and abroad, and this ranks up there with the best of them. Thank you Tim, from the bottom of my heart. Wondering if I can top this trip, Steve

Tim, I wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time at Sioux Lodge. The house was so cozy--wonderful evenings were spent sitting on the deck overlooking Lone Mountain. The boys loved the mountain biking, and we took a wonderful hike to Beehive Basin. That was in addition to fly fishing, riding, kayaking and taking a day trip to Jackson Hole. I had to come home to get some rest!! I trust that you found no problems with our care of the house. I did as much cleaning as I could before we left to speed up the process for the house cleaner. Thank you again. I would say there is a good chance that we will be renting from you again. Hello Tim. We very much enjoyed our stay. Several items were particularly helpful to us, and I thought you'd like to know. These include: the excellent directions to the lodge; the collection of brochures, menus and similar information in your notebook; the binoculars and spotting scope added to our enjoyment of the great views; and the DVD player was a real winner with the kids. I'd recommend the accommodations and hope to return. You have a great place. Again, thank you so much for a great stay! Ray Brown

Hi Tim, We had a great time. Your home was beautiful and perfect for our reunion with our Calif friends. We had some excitement on our first official hike of the week up behind the fire station on that trail. On our way, the oldest girl saw a mule deer fawn...cutest little thing just hopping along... The rest of the week we spent hanging around...took the kids to Big Sky Stables and later went to the 320 Ranch for the BBQ outing....also to Yellowstone one day...and shopped a little and just plain old relaxed. All in all, we loved everything about the place. Just wish we'd had another week there or more....We saw some beautiful full rainbows which the kids really thought neat and the Calif girls were amazed at the lightning bolts which they'd not seen before where they lived. When I get a chance I'll send you some pix. Again, thanks for sharing your home with us! Mitzi Probert

Ray Brown

Tim, I've been meaning to email you about our stay at the Sioux lodge in February. We had a fabulous time and the accomodations were wonderful. The house is very comfortable and well appointed. The beds are comfortable, and it is set up well for a party of 10 (12 with the pullout) with two families. It was very simple to drop everyone off at the shuttle drop off, then park the car and take the shuttle back. This was more simple than the ski in ski out Beaverhead condo we stayed in the year before. The kids loved the playstation and I enjoyed your taste in music. Overall we had a great week and I congratulate you on a nice house. We would love to stay there again in the future. Sincerely, Geoff Blossom

Waking up in the master bed and watching the sunrise was a totally awesome experience. When I first opened my eyes, moonlight was bathing Lone Peak with purple and midnight blue. The full moon was centered above the peak of the mountain. As the sun rose over the horizon, the mountain began to lighten and the moon began to fade. The deep purple changed first to pink, then to the warmer shade of melon. Lone Peak changed from a sleeping giant to a warm and friendly ski slope begging me to come and experience the mountain! Even though the mountain was covered in snow, the blue sky and sunshine welcomed all of us to come out and enjoy another wonderful day in BIG SKY! We enjoyed our stay in Sioux Lodge – the house has so much to offer. The hot tub was great after strenuous outdoor activity and beds were comfy and warm. We spent most of our time outdoors, but the living areas were superb when we relaxed in the evenings. THANKS so much for sharing your home with us.

We travel to a different ski destination yearly (Canada and US) with up to 6 couples and kids. Tim's home has been by far the best stocked place we've EVER been to. He and his wife have put a lot of little details to work in making their guests comfortable, entertained, and wanting to come back. We highly recommend this home. We may return to a summer vacation as well!!

Hello Sioux Lodge I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed our stay at the 'Sioux'. The Sioux is so inviting and warm, our family felt at home as soon as we sat down in the great room and kicked on the fireplace. The snow was great, but I must say we looked forward to our evenings by the fire and soaking in the hot tub. We will be back many years to come. Again, thanks for all the fine touches. JW

The Sioux Lodge is your Big Sky, Montana home away from home. We aren't merely managers of the Sioux, but it is our second home too. We want you to enjoy Big Sky as much as we do. Make the Sioux your first choice if you want a vacation home that feels like 'home'. Thank you for considering the Sioux for your stay in Big Sky! Tim Hart
