Great rental house for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing in the winter. Summertime offers chairlift rides, fantastic hiking, mountain biking, golf, motorcycle touring, children's programs, canoeing and tubing trips on the Shenandoah River, and more. The cottage is located at Massanutten Resort near Harrisonburg, Virginia. It has both easy access to the ski area and to the new water park. We have purchased a summer pass to the outdoor property owners' pool for our guests. Guests can go to the pool for a $5 per person entry fee (kids under 5 free). We now have wireless internet access and a computer for guest use. Our computer has links to local activities, dining, and shopping. We also have an extensive notebook with our favorite local things to do including restaurants, outdoor activities, and shopping.
Massanutten Cottage has three bedrooms and two full baths. Upstairs, there is a queen-size bed in one bedroom with a futon couch (suitable for one small child), and a full-size bed with a single trundle in the other upstairs bedroom. The downstairs bedroom has two twin beds that can be converted into a king. When you set up your rental you will specify which arrangement you would prefer for the downstairs bedroom. Linens and towels are provided.
The cottage has a modern kitchen and all the pans and utensils that you may require. A large combined dining and living area makes for a comfortable area for all to relax. The house is equipped with 3 cable televisions ( living room, upstairs queen room, downstairs bedroom) and a DVD player (living room). The house is immaculate and very comfortable.
Our guests have truly enjoyed the use of our private HOT TUB!!!! A 4 person hot tub graces our back porch overlooking the woods. It is great for unwinding after a cold winter day or a day of hiking or biking. Please note that there are quiet hours posted for the hot tub, as we have full time neighbors.
We have had great feedback from our previous guests and enjoy opening our very comfortable vacation home to others when we are not using it. We are able to be a little bit more choosy about our renters because of our reputation. We prefer renters that enjoy and respect the quiet neighborhood in which our house is located. We do not condone the use of our house for parties and raucous gatherings. We also prefer that our guests have no more than three cars in the driveway. We hope that you will enjoy the cottage as much as our family and repeat guests do.

Year Purchased: 2002
We are the Brookmans. We have two children, one in college and one in diapers! All of us love our time at Massanutten, and we get there as often as possible. Our permanant home is across the mountain in Orange County, Virginia. We purchased our home in 2002 when we discovered what a jewel Massanutten Resort was. We had often skied there as a good local mountain, but when we discovered the mountain biking right on the property, we were sold on the place! In fact, we were riding in Colorado, and met a man who said his favorite place to ride was a little resort called Massanutten! We were floored, but we completely agreed. We bought the house with the intent to use it ourselves as much as possible. The decision to rent was and effort to offset some of the costs of the home. We haven't made a dime in actual profit on the house yet, but we are happy to continue to own it, rent it, and share it with our family and friends. We are constantly upgrading and updating as financing allows. Repeat renters often find many changes in between stays. Some of our bigger projects have been bringing in a hot tub, replacing the dated stove and washer/dryer, painting most interior rooms, painting the exterior, adding 2 TVs, tiling and painting the upstairs bathroom, putting in a new heat pump, and many more. Projects on the horizon are a new roof and new deck.
Why the Owner Chose Massanutten Resort
Our house is located just inside the gates of the resort. We love the location of the house because it is quick and easy to get in and out. We are about a mile from the water park and 3 miles to the ski area. The neighborhood is quiet with little traffic, and we are walking distance to some short trails, a fishing pond, and the playground.
The Unique Benefits of this House
We try to make the house very comfortable for our guests. Our beds have quality bedding, our kitchen has needed supplies, and our home is spotless. We also love sharing all the area has to offer as well. We give lots of advice to our guests about local activities. At the house we have a computer that has internet access and we also have wireless access for your own computer. Our computer has links to activities in the area including sightseeing, shopping, dining, and outdoor activities. We also have an extensive book with brochures about some of our favorite spots that include descriptions and directions. We do our best to accommodate folks. Because most families like access to pools in the summer, we have purchased a guest pool pass that is good for admittance to the property owners' pool Monday-Friday with a $5 per person fee ( free for children under 5).
