Fantastic house for a family or two to enjoy the area. Spring is here! Hiking, biking, golfing are all in full swing, Come and enjoying nature's beauty. We are walking distance to a great park for kids and a sweet little fishing pond.
Great rental house for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing in the winter. Summertime offers chairlift rides, zip line tours, frisbee golf, fantastic hiking, world-class mountain biking, golf, motorcycle touring, children's programs, canoeing and tubing trips on the Shenandoah River, and more. The cottage is located at Massanutten Resort near Harrisonburg, Virginia. It has both easy access to the ski area and to the water park. We have wireless internet access and a computer for guest use. We have a notebook with our favorite local things to do including restaurants, outdoor activities, and shopping.

Massanutten Cottage has three bedrooms and two full baths. Upstairs, there is a queen-size bed in one bedroom with a small futon couch (suitable for one small child). In the other upstairs bedroom is a full-size bed with a full-sized futon. The downstairs bedroom has a king that is easily converted into two twin beds if that better suits you. Linens and towels are provided as a courtesy to our guests. Our policy is that guests launder all used linens before check out. Guests that do not have time to launder, or wish not to, often bring their own linens.
The cottage has a full kitchen and all the pans and utensils that you may require. A large combined dining and living area makes for a comfortable area for all to relax. The house is equipped with 3 cable televisions (living room, upstairs queen room, downstairs bedroom) and a DVD player (living room). The house is immaculate and very comfortable.
Our guests have truly enjoyed the use of our private HOT TUB!!!! A 4 person hot tub graces our back porch overlooking the woods. It is great for unwinding after a cold winter day or a day of hiking or biking. Please note that there are quiet hours posted for the hot tub, as we have full time neighbors.
We have had great feedback from our previous guests and enjoy opening our comfortable vacation home to others when we are not using it. We are able to be a little bit more choosy about our renters because of our reputation. We prefer renters that enjoy and respect the quiet neighborhood in which our house is located. We do not condone the use of our house for parties and raucous gatherings. We also prefer that our guests have no more than three cars in the driveway. We hope that you will enjoy the cottage as much as our family and repeat guests do.

We have been in Massanutten for one week. We were a small group of cyclist from Canada. Massanutten is very well known for the road that are in its region as well as the access to the blue Ridge and Skyline drive. At our arrival, the house was very clean, it is well located for cyclist at the entrance of the resort, so we did not have to make the climb each day. It has two floors and therefore it is very quiet. It is an ideal location for a small group like ours.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

We spent the weekend at this Cozy Cottage and had a great time. The Cottage looked just like the pictures and the description . It was very clean when we arrived and had everything you could want available to us. The owner could not have been any nicer and very easy to work with. She left some information for us to help us enjoy our trip. The location was perfect for us, very close to the Waterpark and the tubing which is what we planned on doing when we got there. I took my daughter's family which included a 4yr. old and a 6yr. old. The fact that we had a little yard to play in and a playground close by was great for the in between times. We are already talking about coming back again. Loved it and would recommend it to all. We just returned from a great time at the cottage! The home is well located to enjoy everything that Massanutten has to offer. The house is very comfortable and cozy. Plenty of supplies (trashbags, hand soap, laundry detergent, paper towels, coffee filters) were provided with the house along with sheets, towels and blankets (it's so nice not having to bring your own supplies). Having the hot tub available after skiing was perfect! Amanda was great during booking and before our arrival answering our questions. She was also super speedy in contacting me to let me know everything checked out okay and that she would be sending our deposit back! One of the best priced places in Massanutten :) We would definitely love to return again soon!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

THIS WAS OUR FIRST TIME GOING AWAY FOR CHRISTMAS AND IT WAS WELL WORTH IT! MY KIDS REPEATEDLY SAID "THIS IS THE BEST CHRISTMAS EVER"! THE HOUSE WAS GREAT, VERY NICE AND COZY. EASY TO GET TO ALL DESTINATIONS. THE HOUSE WAS WELL STOCKED, CLEAN AND NICELY DECORATED WITHOUT BEING "OVERWHELMING" BREAKABLES FOR THE KIDS. WE HAD AN AMAZING TIME AND WOULDN'T HESITATE TO COME BACK. I just realized I never wrote a review last year. I stayed here for MLK Bday weeknd Jan 2012. I loved it. It was just so cute and I thought it a great value. I go to Massanuten every year in Jan and have stayed at differnet places based on the size of my group. This was def one of my favs! We were a party of 3 adults and 2 little girls.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Five of us stayed at the cottage for a girls' weekend. It was terrific. One note: We arrived well into the evening and had trouble spotting the house while driving along the street in the dark. Bear in mind that the house has its own 3-car driveway off the main road/street, and the house itself sits a few yards back from the street (we were finally able to spot the house, but only after we searched on foot, with a flashlight--the Brookmans rightly warned us to bring a flashlight). On to the house: The rooms received a ton of sunlight, which looked incredible in the mornings. Heavy curtains are also in place, if needed. The kitchen had every sort of utensil we could possibly need/want, when it came to preparing our meals. Some of the tableware pieces are really beautiful, and they made our meals seem like more of an occasion. The beds are large and comfortable, the quilts and sheets and towels, aplenty. And we could not stop raving about the decor, complete with retro/vintage-style advertisement paintings, a retro style radio, clocks, etc. The wicker furniture on the front porch is a plus, as was the gorgeous skylight in the upstairs bathroom (not to worry, the neighbors can't peek inside). The hot tub looked clean and inviting, but the weather was simply too hot (100 degrees) over the weekend, so we could not manage a dip. We would absolutely return to this cottage. The owners were extremely communicative and easy to reach. This property was very cozy, clean and well-maintained, perfect for a much needed long weekend. Our four young children (as well as my husband and I) loved the water park. We also love the accessibility to Skyline Drive where we enjoyed the scenery and two waterfall hikes. The kids can't wait to come back again, nor can I. Super House for a family fun time in the mountains, or to visit someone special at James Madison University. Very comfortable and equipped with anything you might need. We had a great family getaway at this home. It is nicely accommodated and close to everything. On a nice day you can walk down the hill to the playground, fishing pond and a trail. We had fun at the water park, on the golf course, fishing, on the mini-golf course, in the go-karts. Lots to do in Massanutten for families. Owner was very easy to work with and very responsive when booking.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a great time. We were close to everything we wanted to do -- the water park, hiking, the caverns, shopping and the park. We started and ended every day with a soak in the hot tub. The kids loved it. We can't wait to come back during ski season.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: We are the Brookmans. We have two children; a daughter who works at a preschool and a son who attends! All of us love our time at Massanutten, and we get there as often as possible. Our permanant home is across the mountain in Orange County, Virginia. We purchased our home in 2002 when we discovered what a jewel Massanutten Resort was. We had often skied there as a good local mountain, but when we discovered the mountain biking right on the property, we were sold on the place! In fact, we were riding in Colorado, and met a man who said his favorite place to ride was a little resort called Massanutten! We were floored, but we completely agreed. We bought the house with the intent to use it ourselves as much as possible. The decision to rent was and effort to offset some of the costs of the home. We haven't made a dime in actual profit on the house yet, but we are happy to continue to own it, rent it, and share it with our family and friends. We are constantly upgrading and updating as financing allows. Repeat renters often find many changes in between stays. Some of our bigger projects have been bringing in a hot tub, replacing appliances, painting the exterior, adding 2 TVs, tiling and painting the upstairs bathroom, replacing the roof and the decks, and our latest project, putting in new bamboo floors in the downstairs! Projects on the horizon are a second round of painting and updating the downstairs bathroom.
Why the Owner Chose Massanutten Resort:
Our house is located just inside the gates of the resort. We love the location of the house because it is quick and easy to get in and out. We are about a mile from the water park and 3 miles to the ski area. The neighborhood is quiet with little traffic, and we are walking distance to some short trails, a fishing pond, and the playground.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We try to make the house very comfortable for our guests. Our beds have quality bedding, our kitchen has needed supplies, and our home is spotless. We also love sharing all the area has to offer as well. We give lots of advice to our guests about local activities. At the house we have a computer that has internet access and we also have wireless access for your own computer. Our computer has links to activities in the area including sightseeing, shopping, dining, and outdoor activities. We also have a book with brochures about some of our favorite spots that include descriptions and directions. We do our best to accommodate folks. Because most families like access to pools in the summer, we have purchased a guest pool pass that is good for admittance to the property owners' pool with a $5 per person fee ( free for children under 5).
