About: My name is Martha Specht Corsi and I am the daughter of George and Flaminia Specht, who restored the castle. Since 1978,when the restoration was inaugurated, many cultural events were organized in Porciano and a little museum was opened on the lower floors of the tower. It has always been important to us to attract quality tourism to the Casentino valley. We host lectures, seminars, concerts, Dante readings, as well as theatre productions. These events are held in Dante’s Hall or on the lovely grounds in front of the castle. In the past my mother used to invite Dartmouth College in Florence to the Castle for a special 'medieval' day. I have particular interest in hosting groups of artists, writers, journalists or history and art buffs in Porciano. Foodies would love it too !! It is possible to organize lectures by university professors and experts in various fields. I can lecture on the history of food and Tuscan cooking. I speak english fluently as I was brought up using this language . I have lived all my life in Florence though I have travelled extensively in the United States. I have worked both for St. James Church in Florence as assistant to the rector in the eighties, and for SACI (Studio Art Centers International) as student activities coordinator in the nineties. For them I wrote a cook - book whose aim was to help foreign students find their way food -wise in Florence and experiment with simple Tuscan family cooking. The book is on sale in Porciano. I regularly cooperate with Harding University in Florence whose students come to Porciano 3 times a year for a full immersion in the beauty and atmosphere of the place and to discover the Casentino valley. I am married to an ex University professor and lawyer . I love Porciano very much and wish it to become a haven for those interested in the charm of such a special family residence . I think we can offer this as a special travel experience and unique place to relax.
Comfortable, quiet and relaxing. Your chance to live in a restored medieval castle that once hosted Dante. Perfect location to explore the Tuscan countryside from Arezzo to Florence and return to wonderful evening meals prepared with local products.
The Unique Benefits at this Castle:
