Beautiful, small, lakefront cottage modestly decorated in nautical theme, overlooking private sand and stone beach with lake frontage. The spectacular sunsets sold us on this home, and we enjoy the nearby area, too. Situated amongst other weekend get-away homes, this is a fabulous spot to relax on the deck overlooking the grassy hill leading down to the beach, watch the waves rolling in, the Great Lakes ships passing by on the horizon, the sun dappling the waves in the morning and setting so dramatically in the evening.
Our children love going into Geneva-on-the-Lake, with its 1950's shopping strip-lined with amusement halls, putt-putt golf, waterslides, shops, and restaurants. We enjoy visiting Geneva State Park with its lodge and marina, the wineries in the area, the beautiful covered bridges and great antique shops in Ashtabula Harbor, and incredible views as you drive along the lake. An hour to Erie, Pennsylvania, and an hour to downtown Cleveland, the area remains quiet and serene, not overly built and commercialized.
The home itself was updated in the past two or three years, and is comfortable. After a day of exploring, we can enjoy a full meal cooked in the ample kitchen (with full-size refrigerator and gas oven, plenty of kitchenware) while the kids pop in a video or DVD in the living room with fireplace (fold-out couch for one person sleeping) with a sliding glass door leading to the deck overlooking Lake Erie. There is an enclosed porch (with outdoor furniture) also overlooking the lake.
The master bedroom features a king-size bed and plentiful storage in the dresser. The other bedroom features a bunkbed perfect for kids, with a twin-size bed on top, and a full-size mattress below, dresser storage, and a TV with VHS. There is also an attached one-car garage which we use to store firewood, lawncare equipment. It is not available to guests.
We love swimming in the summer, and awesome views of nature all winter long. We enjoy all the amenities of the area, including great golfing nearby, full service groceries in Geneva and Ashtabula, and just a lot of fun. We know we will be spending the next few years just taking in all that the area has to offer. We hope you choose to as well.
We have free wireless available, and a local calls only phone. There is no cable TV but plenty of dvds and videos. Beach access is shared with two other cottages with shared stairs down and across a private yard. It is a quiet, family friendly beach, great for sea glass and fossil hunting in the day and bonfires at night. You are welcome to bring your dog, if he or she is well-behaved!

Went with some friends to stay on the lake and visit some wineries for the week-end. This was the perfect spot. We visited the wineries during the day and then sat on the porch overlooking the lake and had dinner and our wine finds of the day. Each of my friends cooked a meal. The cooking areas were spacious and we could all visit together while the cooking occurrred. The last night we walked across the street to a local find...Allesandros... which offered an amazing high class Italian dinner. We checked it out for the week-end, but will be back for a week.Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway.

I can't rave enough at how wonderful--indeed, truly magical--is this cottage on the lake. We had so many amazing nights eating our dinner over a bottle of wine and talking and enjoying the breathtaking views of the lake. The swimming, too, is awesome. The cottage has it's own private staircase, with sitting areas, too, on the way to a private beach. The water is clean and crisp and lovely and combing the beach for whatever washes up--sea glass, shells, pebbles--is very fun. The inside of the cottage is wonderful, too, very comfortable with everything we needed: stereo, tv, dvd, large kitchen enough for all of us to get in there and enjoy cooking together. I'll be returning, just as soon as I can!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

The view lives up to its description, you want to spend your time on the deck. Furniture is not as it appears in the photo and reminded me of college student housing. Master bedroom window opens onto enclosed porch (which, unfortunately for our visit, smelled of gasoline or motor fuel from the garage). The nautical theme is very prevalent with many items on display and varies from the photo. When we arrived, the Adirondack chairs in the photo were piled with other outdoor furniture. We needed to clean them to sit on them. Same for the deck. Good collection of DVDs.Owner response: This was the first guest of the year and we had not gotten furniture out or windows opened as it was still chilly at night. We also now have new couch in living room and porch. These are from Ikea brand new and quite nice. There is no gas smell at all that is absurd! Past guests have been super happy.

This little cottage is a gem. The panoramic view from the deck is stunning and the trees create a shaded, private setting. Our girls enjoyed climbing the rope, searching for beach glass, and playing in the water. They also loved having a bunk-bed and being able to watch a DVD in their room. My husband and I found the cool lake breezes and king-sized bed made for a very comfortable night's sleep. The interior of the cottage was very inviting, but we chose to spend most of out time out on the deck or at the beach. The natural splendor is just gorgeous. Hummingbirds, gulls, and songbirds visit by day and fireflies and stars provide nightlife. This is a great place to kick back and read a good book. The kitchen is set up so that you can easily prepare simple meals and enjoy eating on the deck. Nearby restaurants are also an option. We chose to get take-out because the view at the cottage is unbeatable. Ice cream shops and mini-golf are just down the street and provided a diversion for the kids. We'll be back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Hello, I'm the caretaker of this wonderful property in Saybrook Township, Ohio. The properties' view is SPECTACULAR. The Ashtabula Harbor is rich with history of the Underground Railroad, as we were one of the last stops in the USA for the slaves to escape to Canada to FREEDOM. The Ashtabula River is full of fish for great fishing, as well as our fresh water Lake Erie, which can be viewed off the back deck. We're about 3 hours east of Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH & 1 hr west of Erie, PA. Cleveland is only 1 hour west where the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Great Lakes Science Center & wonderful museums are located. We're in the heart of the wineries, as well as the location for the US's longest covered bridge. We have alot of covered bridges in Ashtabula County, so you need to come out & see what Ashtabula County, OH has to offer. Lots of things to see & do. There is no cable at the cottage, but who wants to watch tv when you have a view like this to enjoy!?! The beach below is great, too! Why not come out & see what I'm talking about. Come & enjoy a wonderful stay at the Camden Cottage.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My family had a lovely week at the cottage on Lake Erie. The best part of our week was the view of Lake Erie, right from the back window and deck. The cottage sits atop a large hill, with a nice deck and wooden steps that lead to the grass. About a 1/2 minute walk on the grass leads you to another set of steps to the sandy beach. The beach is lovely for swimming, because it's fresh water! You would never know it wasn't the ocean, because there are waves on windier days and calm water on days with less wind. We sat out on the deck for hours every day and watched the beautiful lake. The kitchen is fully stocked. The bathroom is nice with a tub shower. There is no air conditioning, but that isn't a problem because of the Lake Erie breezes, and there are lots of fans to circulate the air. The DVD and video selection is great. The couches are small and not too comfy, but we didn't spend very much time indoors anyway. The outdoor furniture is excellent, lots of chairs and a nice big table for eating. I would recommend going to the Lakehouse Inn and Winery and sitting on their deck for a bottle of wine and some pizza. Also, we took the tour of the Hubbard House in Ashtabula and enjoyed the rich history of the area. There isn't a ton of stuff to do in the area except playing mini golf/real golf and wandering through little shops, but if you have kids that love swimming, it's a great place to relax. The only complaint I would have is that the lady that owns the property was not very nice to us. The cottage's caretaker, though, was awesome. She was really sweet and helpful. The cottage was clean and well maintained. We had a great trip and enjoyed the quality time with our family.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.
