'Hatch Life' is a combination of 'Salt Life'' with a hint of 'Hick Life'. Come experience the natural resources and laid back life style of Steinhatchee. This home is located on a low traffic road in a quiet neighborhood known to the locals as Cooey Island. Equipped with sat TV, gas BBQ grill, handicapped ramp, canoe, horseshoes, croquet, fish cleaning table, large kitchen plus a washer/dryer…all for your use.
You are welcome to make a bonfire when conditions are acceptable. Enjoy the big yard, you've got plenty of space.
Slip the canoe in the creek and take a leisurely paddle to Historic Steinhatchee Falls. Canoeing and kayaking from the Falls to the mouth of the Gulf is about a 5 hour paddle one way. The trail offers the canoeist or kayaker the opportunity to paddle along some of the most uninhabited areas of the Gulf of Mexico. There are 2 canoes and a 2-man Necky touring kayak available for guests use.
And when it comes to fishing...it’s the best! The slope of the Gulf bottom is very gradual making the water shallow for vast distances. The mean tidal range of approximately three feet means there is always shallow water for great fishing. The fertile grass flats support a variety of species of fish, including scollops, making this part of Florida an incredibly exciting fishing ground.
Most anglers choose saltwater species but area rivers and countless creeks provide an abundant supply of freshwater fishing. Offshore fishing for grouper, snapper and sheepshead is popular along Taylor County's 60-mile coastline. In addition to rock-based natural reefs in waters from 25 to 65 feet deep, there are three artificial reefs 10 miles offshore from Steinhatchee. Regardless of the season, fishing can be great fun in Taylor County.
Now when it comes to hunting… the Steinhatchee area is teeming with deer, turkey, wild hogs, squirrel, and many migratory birds it is a favorite hunting destination for hunters from all over the southeast.
Jena, Spring Creek, Steinhatchee, and Tide Swamp, are Wild Life Management areas that are all conveniently located around Steinhatchee. These areas offer archery, muzzle loading gun season, general gun season, and spring turkey hunts.

Steinhatchee affords the best fishing, scalloping and hunting Florida has. It is a well kept secret! This quaint town will take you back in time to 'old' Florida. You can use the canoe- put it in at Steinhatchee Falls and take a leisurely cruise down the Steinhatchee river to the back of the house. Inshore fishing affords trout, flounder and red fish primarily. Offshore fishing is the best grouper, sea bass, sheephead and grunt fishing I have ever seen. There are wildlife management areas that have hogs and deer galore. This town is ATV and golf cart friendly as well. You can stroll through the management areas and pick blackberries, blueberries and many other berries. The thing Steinhatchee is best known for is the summertime scalloping. Children can easily harvest scallops and will cherish the memory for life.
Map makes it look like Pine goes to Palm St.- it does not cross bridge on River Ave. to Palm St.
Year Purchased: 2012
About the owner: I am an avid fisherwoman and hunter born and raised in Florida.
Why the Owner Chose Steinhatchee: Best place in Florida to relax and enjoy the outdoors. A great place to have a beer at Who Dat's bar, play some pool and show the days catch! Fiddlers restaurant will cook your catch and provide all the sides inexpensively.
The Unique Benefits at this Mobile Home: The fishing and hunting was the best I have experienced in my life. This small town has everything I want to retire and live happily. It is a piece of Florida that is unpublished and still teaming with bounty. Grilling on the porch, visiting with the neighbors and enjoying the amenities this area affords made me decide to purchase this property. Everything is secure, clean and comfortable.
