We were looking for a Mexican town with swimmable waters, good food, and accomodations that were both quiet/peaceful and authentica. Our stay in Rincon and particularly with Glen and Debra at their beautiful traditional casa del mar (Pelicanos) was all that we had imagined. Thank you for the welcome and ongoing camraderie, the perfect hospitality, sumptious breakfasts and knowledgeable leads on ways to enjoy the area...we left feeling that we had really relaxed, felt like we had seen and enjoyed Mexico and that we will return soon. Glen and Debra...your dream of having such a place is our treat...thanks for sharing your "rincon" of heaven/Guayabitos...Anne and JimDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

This place was recommended to me from a friend who is great friends with Deb & Glen, the owners. I was a little hesitant at first to do the B&B thing in a small city in Mexico but let me tell you, this place rocks! Deb & Glen go out of their way to make you feel like you have just come home to visit. Seriously, I was reluctant and had little expectations, plus this was the first trip with my girlfriend out of the country. This could have been a disaster!! I know you read these things and think these people whow write these just glout about everything, I am not one of those. So when I say this was the best vacation I have had in years, I mean it. Guayabitos is great! Great beach, great food, the ocean water is warm and the sunsets are amazing. But what really made the trip was the hospitality, the amazing breakfast that Deb serves in the morning and most of all they have the greatest dog in the world, "Grace"! If your lucky enough to take Grace to the beach she will show you how to dig for crabs, her way. She will make you feel like a kid again with her gentle spirit and her joy for life. I really can't say enough about this place, Deb, Glen and Grace. You will love this place! It's going to be hard to beat this experience!! Enjoy and relax!!!! Thanks Deb & Glen!!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

We stayed a full month with Glenn and Debbie at their Casa in Guayabitos. We were there three weeks as a couple (only) and one week with nine other of our family members: four adults and five children, ages 3-11, in there three guest room B&B. We were all accommodated and comfortable. We enjoyed the pool every day, as well as the beach and bay (one block away) for swimming and sunset viewing. An easy walk for all. Mats, chairs, umbrellas and "boogie boards" are supplied by the hosts. Bring your own towel to take to the beach. The three guest rooms are on the main floor-which includes: a guest(s) living room with cable tv and the (fantastic) guest's kitchen- which is outdoors adjacent to the pool and patio. Wi-fi is available and reliable. We found having "our own" kitchen valuable and a "deal maker" for our month long stay. We felt like we were in our own home...very comfortable. Glenn and Debbie are the perfect and most gracious hosts, living privately on the upper level of the home. They made sure we had all that we needed, and did so without any intrusion. They maintain two bicycles (with baskets) for the guests to use, and we used them every day to ride to town for groceries, sight-seeing, laundry and meals. Downtown Guayabitos is about 3/4's of a mile ride on the road. 1/2 mile walk on the beach. A ride into downtown LaPenita (to the north) is a quick six minutes over the suspension bridge. Countless great places to eat of all menus and price levels. You could eat out every meal for a month and not eat at the same place twice. Although we preferred to walk or ride a bike; safe, reliable and convenient taxi service--if so desired/needed, is available 24/7 for about $2.50 a trip. :) We also went whale watching (and had a great hour quite near the whales), fishing and boat trip to Chacala (a small town 10 miles north) for swimming and famous bar-b-que fish on the beach and up to San Blas for the tour of the national marine preserve. Debbie assisted us with all our travel needs. Debbie also holds a weekly cooking class in the outdoor kitchen that we enjoyed attending. Fantastic yoga classes, taught five days a week, by Agneta and Ezra are just three blocks away ($4.00/class). After two months in Guayabitos this year, we left with tears in our eyes...hating to leave. We highly recommend Guayabitos, Casa de Pelicanos and being hosted by Glenn and Debbie. THANK YOU, Glenn and Debbie!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

We have stayed with Debra and Glenn twice now, having rented out the whole B&B both times - the first time with family friends (so we were 4 adults and 3 kids), and second time with family (there was a whole group of us - some stayed here and some at hotel across the street - but the Casa was home to us all). Note that kids ok only if you take the whole place...otherwise all those cannon balls into the pool would be quite disruptive to other guests! The location is amazing - steps to the beach - the property is beautiful - a true Mexican villa decorated with beautiful artifacts from around Mexico. The pool is refreshing, clean. The outdoor kitchen is well equipped and the perfect place to whip up a batch of margaritas and guacamole (and Debra has the most amazing recipe for margaritas!). But it is the people that make the place - the owners, Deb and Glenn - are wonderful people - very helpful, very accommodating. They helped me organise an important birthday party for my father - it was so special and I could not have done it without them. Indeed they became part of the family during our stay there - it would not have been the same without them. So go go go!! You won't regret it.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

We have been going to Guayabitos for years but wanted to try something new. This B&B was the best find ever. The location is just steps from the beach and the accommodations are great with nice private rooms and comfortable beds (which as you may know is a big plus). In general this is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast but the best things at Casa De Los Pelicanos are the hosts. Glen and Debra bend over backwards to make your stay special but are never in the way. Wonderful breakfasts, great conversation and they even took a day to organize and lead all of the guests on a trip to the hot springs. When in Guayabitos this is the place to stay.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, tourists without a car.

Deb and Glenn are the best of hosts. The location is about 35 yards from the sand and the best walking beach around. Deb's breakfasts are awesome. There are plenty of interesting restaurants within walking distance and plenty of taxis available if you are less active. Their house is clean, comfortable, well designed and charming. You will not be disappointed. Alan and Ann.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, tourists without a car.

Our family had the best reunion ever to celebrate a milestone birthday. Glen and Debra are so welcoming and warm and very informed about the area . We ranged from 2 years to 70 years and they had so much information for us all to enjoy the week. Definitely a "return one day destination" !!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car.

This was by far the best vacation we have had. Deb and Glen's beautiful house is where everyone should vacation. If you are unsure about staying at a bed and breakfast, don't be! It's so much better than you would ever expect. Deb and Glen are accomidating hosts and are there when you need them, and go out of thier way for you, but are not intrusive. Deb's cooking is fantastic! The Casa is only a 2 minute walk to a pretty much private beach, or stay at home with your own pool, and hammock. We took advantage of booking a private massage and pedicure at the house, well worth it. Listen to thier advice if they tell you to go somewhere in Guayabitos for a delicious meal or a walk. They know what they are talking about. We will be back with out a doubt, and I don't know what else is a better compiment than that. Pictures and words do not do this piece of paradise justice.Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway.

If you are ready to try something a little more authentic than all inclusive resorts, give this VRBO B&B a try. A typical day in this lovely home starts with a delicious and hearty homemade breakfast prepared by your host, Deb. Spend a few morning hours by the pool finishing your coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. Then it may be time to put on your suit and walk across the road to the perfect sandy beach and spend some time in the waves. You may want to buy something from a vendor on the beach, a macaroon, a mango on a stick, a bbq fish, but if not, that's ok too, they won't be in you face 100 times a day! Later in the pm it might be time for happy hour at one of the many bars on the beach. Mateja's is a great choice, but they are all good. Here you can enjoy a Pacifico for under a $1.00 US or 100 pesos and a bowl of Azteca soup or chips and guacomole, delicious. Then time to wander back to the Casa and maybe have a siesta before showering in your personal shower and getting ready to go downtown for dinner. There are so many great restaurants in Guaybitos, whether you want to try a humble taco stand or something a bit more formal. All the food is generously portioned, outstandingly tasty and reasonably priced. Of couse a marguerita is always a perfect accompaniment. We have eaten many meals in this town and never been disappointed and never had a case of "tourista". If you are looking for a "spring break" night life town, this isn't it, go to Mazatlan. However, if you are looking for a place that is comfortable to spend a vacation with your spouse, your kids or your friends, Guayabitos is your place. Casa De Los Pelicanos is a clean, well equipped house and Deb and Glen make sure you have the perfect balance of pampering and independence. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, tourists without a car.

If you have done the all inclusive and have outgrown that experience, time to try a holiday that allows you to feel what living in Mexico is like. Staying at Casa Da Los Pelicanos is the perfect blend of pampering and independence. Deb will prepare you a wonderful breakfast to start your day. Then you may spend the morning by the pool finishing your fresh coffee or OJ taking in the morning sun. Then you may want to cross the street to enjoy the beach with its fun surf and perfect sandy beach. It you want to buy a treat or item from a vendor, great, but they will not be in your face 100 times a day. Try a macaroon or a pastry or a BBQed fish. Then head up the beach to one of the many beach front bars, we like Mateja's for happy hour and enjoy a Pacifico for 100 pesos (less than 1.00 US) and have a Azteca Soup or chips and guacamole, while you watch the sun go down over the hills in the distance. Then back to the Casa to shower in your private shower and get ready for dinner downtown. The selection of restaurants in Guayabitos is incredible and all of the food is great and very economical. We have never had a bad meal and never had any "tourista"! If you are looking for nightlife and "spring break" like parties, this is not the place for you, but if you want hospitality and just nice places to spend an evening, you will like this town. It is well worth the hour long ride from the PV airport. We cannot say enough about the hosts, they are just excellent and their home is very comfortable and you have everything you need (even delivered groceries if you want to cook!). Try this place you will not regret a minute of it.Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car.
