Location: Coupeville, Whidbey Island, Puget Sound, Washington State, USA (near Keystone Ferry in Coupeville, Whidbey Island 98239) View Map

Accommodations:  Beach House, 4 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 10-12)

This private beach house is located within the Ebey's Reserve National Reserve Park area and is situated on the west side of Whidbey Island on its own private beach. The home is in the middle of the Keystone Spit in a national park adjacent to Fort Casey State Park, yet the Beach House is just four miles from the historic town of Coupeville, a Red Apple grocery store and Whidbey General Hospital. The home is surrounded on three sides by public property and only has three neighbors to the west. This home is not stacked and packed into a large development of beach houses but instead is part of a small inholding within and between State and National park areas. You will really enjoy the privacy.

You can relax in 2800 + square feet of comfort in this fully equipped home. The large private fenced backyard goes almost all the way to the high tide line of Puget Sound. Since several people have asked, our property is on the water and it is private waterfront. There is over 2 miles of State owned beach to the east of ours, but it is pretty quiet and rarely used. An adjustable forced air heating system will keep you warm in the winter and the AC will keep you cool in the summer.

Enjoy wonderful water, mountain, and shipping views from almost every room in the house. A huge deck with four foot tall, one-quarter inch thick safety glass walls is perfect for dinner and drinks. We are immediately adjacent to almost two miles of publically owned "Ebey's Reserve" beach so our location feels very private. Puget Sound is due south and the Lake Crockett bird refuge is due north across the street, so there is a lot of water views in almost all directions. There are so many different views of the site that you should request a link to more photos so you can get a better idea.

One of my favorite views is to the west right before sunset of the Colonel's house in old Fort Casey. I have some great pictures of this and will forward a link upon request.

The Beach House is only a five minute (flat) walk to the Keystone Ferry with service to Port Townsend! The ferry leaves from very close by and lands right in the heart of the waterfront of the beautiful town of Port Townsend, so no car is needed to enjoy the fine restaurants, shopping, and other amenities available there.

Outdoor activities abound here, with fantastic salmon fishing and crabbing, wonderful kayaking or world class diving from your backyard. The public boat launch is next to the ferry terminal and is less than one minute by car. The home is bounded by Fort Casey State Park on east, Puget Sound on the south, and Crockett Lake on the north. Whidbey Island is the home of Naval Air Station Oak Harbor. The aircraft, ships, subs, and parachutists can appear at anytime. The aircraft and parachutists have been seen flying in most areas, including overhead.

This smoke-free home is located in the middle of the main waterfowl flyway of Whidbey Island. For you runners, the distance around the lake is 5.6 miles. An excellent training area for both running and biking. A wise choice for the family that wishes to be close to the cities, but maintain their privacy.

This home is 90 minutes from Seattle (including Ferry) and 75 minutes from Bellingham by car. The local airport is 15 minutes away and air taxi can be arranged with Kenmore Air 866 435 9524. The 25 minute trip from Seattle is scheduled 4 times a week.

The Beach House is equipped for 8 persons in four separate and quiet bedrooms and is kid friendly. There is also one additional semi private sleeping area not including the great room with a King sized Murphy bed. One of the ground floor rooms with a king bed also has a large window seat that can also be utilized as a sleeping area.

We recently added a gym quality LifeFitness 9500 Elliptical training machine.

Why the Owner Chose Coupeville

How often can you buy a beach house inside of a Park? It is like the San Juan Islands without the 5+ hour journey. Our relatively isolated home sits within the Ebey's Landing National Reserve Park and feels a lot further away than 1.5 hours from Seattle.

The Unique Benefits at this Beach House

Wonderful walks on the beach collecting beach glass and various other things that wash ashore, piles of driftwood, sunrises and sunsets, happy islanders, and a generally relaxed feeling. We can't get enough. Our family and friends love to visit.

    • This place is owning a home on a island resort. The views were fantastic, especially at night we got to see the refelction of the moonlight on the waters!!! oh what a sight!! took my breath away. The water added a very calming effect.. Our kids love the Boat room giving the kids a world of pretend play. the middle bedroom downstairs gives us an illusion of being outside from inside, the 3rd bedroom is a cozy cove with huge windows with the waterview. Upstairs, the living room is the best place ever, it has a feeling that you are outside yet inside. The KITCHEN makes you feel like a chef, the only thing missing was the HAT! We loved it. "the jacuzzi's", I don't know where to start. This house has a double effect added to every room. Carefully decorated and made us feel totally at home. We felt pampered and refreshed when we left. One of our children started to cry telling us we should buy this house!! ALL IN ALL, never miss this beautiful house. We will definetly come back.

    • The house was the perfect size for a family reunion of eight people (though 10 or 12 could have easily fit), with four large bedrooms and two sitting areas (one upstairs, one downstairs). My wife and I have rented vacation houses all over the country, and it is so refreshing to find a house like this where the owner uses the property frequently and is continually making new investments. The high end six burner stove and well-equipped kitchen was great for our food-obsessed family, there were plenty of toys and games for our kids to supplement the few that we brought and a whole library of 50+ DVDs and board games. The location near the mid-point of Whidbey is ideal, particularly if you have people coming from all directions (in our case, we had folks coming from Seattle, Oregon and BC). There are wonderful Saturday farmers markets both in Coupeville and some of the other surrounding towns that are worth a stop if you are coming in on Saturday.

    • Our husbands enjoyed their stay so much, that they brought their wives for stay #2 at the beautiful and relaxing Whidbey beach home. We were a large group and found ourselves delighted about how wonderfully the house accommodated all of us. The large family room with the panoramic view was exactly the setting we needed in order to relax and spend quality time together. For this room to be attached to the kitchen was an extra added bonus. We hope to make it back sometime in the future -it was fabulous! A running hot tub would be the only hope for next time.

    • Our church leadership team used the Whidbey Beach house for our yearly planning retreat and we're blown away as soon as we arrived. The view was fantastic with windows all the way around the main room the kitchen was great for preparing meals for all of us. The collection of movies and the home theater was great for relaxing at the end of the day. There were plenty of very nice sized bed and bath rooms. Everything was very clean and we really felt like we got away. It was nice to be with-in walking distance to the local coffee shop and Fort Casey. I enjoyed the 6 mile run around the adjacent lake. We can wait to come back and next time look forward to bringing our wives.

    • We had a wonderful time at the Whidbey house over Thanksgiving weekend. Very convenient location with respect to Pt. Townsend ferry, Fort Casey, stores, etc. and you can't ask for a better view. We were two families and the house fit us quite comfortably. The kids loved their room with the 'boat beds' and downstairs t.v./rec area. Upstairs was a great gathering spot with a fully equipped kitchen (loved the pancake griddle). Would certainly recommend this house to others and we'll most likely be back to visit again.

    • My family enjoyed a great week at the beach house. Nine people and our little terrier fit comfortably in the space. The living area has wonderful views and is an attractive gathering place for socializing and eating. The kitchen had plenty of space and a fancy stove. The teens loved the large screen media center for DVDs. The adults liked the internet access. Location was convenient - walkable to Port Townsend ferry and to Fort Casey State Park. Coupeville is nearby and Deception Pass a reasonable drive away. This rental house exceeded our expectations - it had a warm, welcoming atmosphere, the ammenities were good and the views fantastic.

    • Our family had a wonderful week at the Beach House at the beginning of August 08. This was our second stay there and we love it so much we hope to make it an annual event. The industrial sized kitchen is perfect for many people sharing in food preparation and the upstairs living area is incredible... wonderful views, large dining room table and eating bar, comfy furniture, satellite TV, internet, etc., one could go on and on. It's a short walk to the ferry to Port Townsend and Whidbey Island abounds with marvellous day trip destinations and activities. Thanks to Tom and his family for sharing and we hope to be back in 09!

    • What a view--surrounded by water, with the beach, the ferry, and the Olympics covered with snow. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Lots of interesting birds. Very comfortable spaces and the beds and bedrooms were great. We had a wonderful time cooking together--the stove is awesome. Great casual get-away. We would come again for sure.
