Deck view of Olympic Mountains & Keystone Ferry at Sunset
Location: Coupeville, Whidbey Island, Northwest & Islands, Washington State, USA (near Keystone Ferry in Coupeville, Whidbey Island 98239) View Map
Accommodations: House, 4 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 10-12)
Keywords: Beach, waterfront, Keystone, Coupeville, large, Fort Casey, Sand Spit
This private beach house is located within the Ebey's Reserve National Reserve Park area and is situated on the west side of Whidbey Island on its own private beach. The home is in the middle of the Keystone Spit in a national park adjacent to Fort Casey State Park, yet the Beach House is just four miles from the historic town of Coupeville, a Red Apple grocery store and Whidbey General Hospital. The home is surrounded on three sides by public property and only has three neighbors to the west. This home is not stacked and packed into a large development of beach houses but instead is part of a small in-holding within and between State and National park areas. You will really enjoy the privacy.
You can relax in 2800 + square feet of comfort in this fully equipped home. The large private fenced backyard goes almost all the way to the high tide line of Puget Sound. Since several people have asked, our property is on the water and it is private waterfront. There is over 2 miles of State owned beach to the east of ours, but it is pretty quiet and rarely used. An adjustable forced air heating system will keep you warm in the winter and the AC will keep you cool in the summer.
Enjoy wonderful water, mountain, and shipping views from almost every room in the house. A huge deck with four foot tall, one-quarter inch thick safety glass walls is perfect for dinner and drinks. We are immediately adjacent to almost two miles of publicly owned "Ebey's Reserve" beach so our location feels very private. Puget Sound is due south and the Lake Crockett bird refuge is due north across the street, so there is a lot of water views in almost all directions. There are so many different views of the site that you should request a link to more photos so you can get a better idea.
One of my favorite views is to the west right before sunset of the Colonel's house in old Fort Casey. I have some great pictures of this and will forward a link upon request.
The Beach House is only a five minute (flat) walk to the Keystone Ferry with service to Port Townsend! The ferry leaves from very close by and lands right in the heart of the waterfront of the beautiful town of Port Townsend, so no car is needed to enjoy the fine restaurants, shopping, and other amenities available there.
Outdoor activities abound here, with fantastic salmon fishing and crabbing, wonderful kayaking or world class diving from your backyard. The public boat launch is next to the ferry terminal and is less than one minute by car. The home is bounded by Fort Casey State Park on east, Puget Sound on the south, and Crockett Lake on the north. Whidbey Island is the home of Naval Air Station Oak Harbor. The aircraft, ships, subs, and parachutists can appear at anytime. The aircraft and parachutists have been seen flying in most areas, including overhead.
This smoke-free home is located in the middle of the main waterfowl flyway of Whidbey Island. For you runners, the distance around the lake is 5.6 miles. An excellent training area for both running and biking. A wise choice for the family that wishes to be close to the cities, but maintain their privacy.
This home is 90 minutes from Seattle (including Ferry) and 75 minutes from Bellingham by car. The local airport is 15 minutes away and air taxi can be arranged with Kenmore Air 866 435 9524. The 25 minute trip from Seattle is scheduled 4 times a week.
The Beach House is equipped for 8 persons in four separate and quiet bedrooms and is kid friendly. There is also one additional semi private sleeping area not including the great room with a King sized Murphy bed. One of the ground floor rooms with a king bed also has a large window seat that can also be utilized as a sleeping area.
The home has DSL internet and a wireless router for easy use by guests. Each bedroom has two cat5 ethernet jacks to connect to the network too. DirecTV service is provided on at least 2 TV's .
We recently added a gym quality LifeFitness 9500 Elliptical training machine.

We were a large group fairly comfortable in this 4 bedroom house. The views are excellent but you are not on a private beach since there are several neighbors right next to the house. We did enjoy a short walk to the Keystone Ferry and wandering Port Townsend. The space was large enough for us to have jigsaw puzzles, sitting area and everyone at the dining room table. The large bedrooms were very comfortable. Problems were that the heat did not work the first night (not so good in December) and there were not enough extra blankets in the house for all the beds. The twin beds are not comfortable for adults. One of the kitchen faucets was broken along with the barbecue grill that did not have flame control. The owner offered to give us a discount for the first night with no heat but after a couple of emails just never responded, so, no discount.

Our family (5 adults and three children under the age of 4) spent a most enjoyable long weekend at this lovely Whidbey Island home. We especially enjoyed the view from the huge windows facing the water, the great kitchen, the beach, cooking s'mores at the fire pit, the dvd collection). The weather was mostly wonderful. Even though it rained one of the days, it was warm enough to be cooking outside at the firepit in the evening. We went kayaking from the beach and I even got a slight sunburn on Saturday. We toured Langley where we discovered some primo ice cream. The home was well equipped. It provided environmentally friendly soaps, shampoos and lotions in the bathrooms. It even had wood for the fire pit and sticks for the s'mores. We tested the smoke alarms by neglecting to turn on the fan while cooking the first night and found out they work great. Fortunately the fan works great too. We all LOVE the stove. The accomodations were as stated and the owner was extremely easy to deal with.

The Keystone Spit is a lovely slice of God of God's green earth; our favorite places. We decided to stay here in mid Sept with our adult children /family pets for relaxation & a little salmon fishing from the beach. The home has a great 270 degree water / mountain view, is spacious, & has nicely separated bedroom areas. Out back there is an immense fenced play area (partially concrete & partially grass that is great for younger childern & / or dogs. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was provided. Catching a salmon casting from the beach was the icing on the cake. Thanks Tom, we had a very enjoyable stay.

This beach house was the perfect place for our family reunion/vacation. We had quite a large group for 4 of the 6 nights of our stay, and the house accommodated us quite well. It was comfortable and spacious, with a beautiful master suite, 3 very nice and roomy bedrooms downstairs, and comfortable couches for additional guests. Tom was helpful and responsive as we planned our stay, even purchasing a deck umbrella at my request. We are a family that loves cooking, so especially enjoyed the large upstairs with kitchen, dining area and living room all-in-one. We enjoyed the beautiful view from the living room and deck, and made good use of the patio and fire pit. The location is a great base for walks, bike rides, time on the beach, and the ferry to Port Townsend. After a day of activity, the jacuzzi was a welcome indulgence. We had a very memorable time, and I'm happy that we found this special house on the beach.

The Beach House provided an exceptional venue for our family reunion this summer. We all enjoyed having our own space each night yet loved the large kitchen and great room. Our evenings were filled with card games at the table, snacking at the kitchen counter, and lively conversation while we were all upstairs. Lazy walks along the beach, geocache hunts to neighboring landmarks or a stroll to the Keystone Cafe for ice cream were merely a step outside. The Beach House had all of the amenities and a great location that made for a wonderful family vacation.

This home is ideally located in an area that provides easy access via ferry (walk on) to an enjoyable day trip to Port Townsend for great shopping and dining; a short and scenic drive to the "artsy" town of Langley for unique shopping; easy accessibility to historical sites and a short drive to fine dining in Coupeville. The home easily sleeps four couples or a reunion of friends of 8 or more with extra sleeping arrangements on couches, etc. The view is out of this world, a great patio and deck to enjoy the scenery, large patio for kids play, steps from the water and a fire pit to enjoy a beach-side hot dog and weiner roast. Totally enjoyable.

Tired of security lines, baggage claim & long lines? So were we! We decided to getaway in early March to Whidbey Island instead. It was exactly what we needed. No early morning tours, no crowds, just the quiet surf, magnificent eagles, the Keystone ferry and the mountains to wake up to. We met friends there and even though the weather was overcast and cool, we had a blast venturing out to see the charming towns that surround Coupeville. We never quite made it to the lighthouse, but there's always next time. In 63 years I've never really relaxed on vacation. This one I did. The owner's home is just my style, the pictures on-line don't do it justice, oh, and the kitchen? It was made for the IRON CHEF in all of us. The only setback coming from home was the Keystone Ferry run, cancelled due to high winds. We turned & headed for the Edmonds Ferry and then north to Mulkilteo. Guess it wasn't a setback afterall. Turned out to be the beginning of a great adventure. I still sit back and smile thinking about finding this GREAT GETAWAY so close to home. This been there, done that doesn't apply. I want to go back and you will too.

Just a word to tell how marvelous the accommodations were at this beautiful Whidbey Island house! The ten women all delighted in the site, the views, the comfort, and the spaciousness. The table seated all of us comfortably. We assumed that the bag of coffee and the bottle of wine in the center of the table were a welcome gift to us, and that was quite thoughtful. We did drink the wine, but left the coffee for the next guests! The layout of the Great Room made it possible for us to meet comfortably in a circle, to be present with the others while preparing a meal, or to find cozy spots to read, play a game, or just gaze out the three walls of windows. We saw at least 5 bald eagles and several hawks, and watched spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Looking at this fantastic property, I could picture the most beautiful weddings being held out on the lawn area and on the artistic patio where I could even imagine space for a tent! Though I have no weddings to plan in the near future, I hope that we will be able to hold our women's retreat there again, as we all found it most enjoyable.

My family rented the Keystone Beach house for 3 nights in January to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary and we had a fabulous stay. The kitchen was well stocked, there was plenty of room for 10 people and the layout of the house was perfect for socializing in the living room/kitchen. The views were fantastic with a nice walkway from the house leading down to the beach, and views of the Olympics, Keystone ferry and a 10 minute walk to Fort Casey. Tom was very accommodating!

The Keystone beach house was great, and my family and I hope to return soon. We rented the home for 6 days in October to celebrate my fathers 80th birthday. The location was ideal, since it was easy to get to from all directions. Over the 6 days, we enjoyed all kinds of weather, and the home was perfect for both storm watching and sun worshiping. It's the perfect location for day trips to Fort Casey, Port Townsend (an easy walk to the ferry), local wineries (we hit only 2 of the 7 on the island), or to just relax in isolation. I was pleased to discover that some of the things I worried about when renting this house, turned out not to be a problem. The home is far enough from the air base, that we didn't hear a single plane in 6 days. I was concerned that the ferry would be an eye/ear sore, but it was far enough away, that it was actually fun to watch it come and go. Althought the house is set back from the beach, that doesn't detract from the view at all. The great room has big bay windows on 3 sides with a fantastic view in all directions. But best of all, we enjoyed the well equiped kitchen. We cooked some big amazing meals for 9 adults + 2 kids, and the kitchen had everything we needed. And the open floorplan allowed the cooks to socialize with the rest of the family. We look forward to returning.
