  This turned out to be the perfect house for me and three card playing friends coming to the island for a wedding, but staying a week to enjoy the wonderful beaches and club pools. The reverse living house with its outdoor shower and two golf cart garage is adorable. The cozy kitchen table nook was perfect for a quick meal or a few hands of bridge. The two golf carts allowed us to go off in a couple of different directions, i.e., to the spa, club, beach or store. The dining table proved to be not only charming and unique, but also large enough to comfortably entertain friends for dinner. A private location with a lovely view and many amenities to recommend it.

  Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children.

  My family stayed at this property on BHI over the Thanksgiving holiday this year. The house is beautiful and clean (and I am a clean freak!), and well appointed. I LOVED all the black & white pictures of BHI hanging on the walls. The bedrooms are all on the lower level. One has a bunkbed (twin over full) plus a single bed on the other side of the room. Another bedroom has a queen bed, and another has a king bed. All bedrooms have private bathrooms and tv's. When you walk upstairs, you immediately notice the view from the living room (which opens to a back deck).....the golf course with Old Baldy in the distance. BEAUTIFUL! The living room was roomy and comfortable. We loved the dining room table!!! And the kitchen was perfect (we only cooked one night) and a great size. There is a half bath on the top floor as well. We loved the fact that there were two golf carts (4 and 6 person), and each one had seat belts! This was great for our 8 year old son!!! This house is about 5 minutes from the ferry, and about 12 minutes from the Shoals Club. This was our first time renting through VRBO (we've usually rented through BHI Limited), and I admit that I was very nervous, but the owner was super easy to work with (via email) and very flexible with our check in time. We had absolutely no problems, and would stay in this house again in a heart beat. This was our 4th time staying on BHI this year, and this was by far, the best rental experience so far. We hope to stay here again soon!

  Emmet Place was a perfect retreat for our family in '08. Three great bathrooms connected to three tastefully decorated and well appointed bedrooms. Washer/dryer right there at the entry, in a closet situated between the bedrooms. Perfect placement for wet swim suits and all the towels that need washed and dried. It has a living-area-upstairs floor plan with windows running the length and width of the space. It affords a truly great view of the golf course and lots of sunlight. The height of the house gave a good viewpoint for the one rainy day. A sturdy, expansive sectional gave us lots of room when everyone watched TV together at night. Nice big TV. Super long glass top dining table gave the kids all the needed elbowroom, with the ability to watch TV from the table (when allowed). Kitchen included a breakfast table nook just right for morning cereal. Good views over the treetops from the kitchen windows. We have sampled different houses on every BHI visit over the last decade but this is one we could build a tradition with...we want to go back again in '09 and beyond! The hosts even have a pack-n-play that was just right for our 2 year old. And the two golf carts gives us flexibility in doing different things on the island at the same time...not everyone has to go to the pool at the same time or the same beach or shopping. Seatbelts in the carts was another big plus! If we had a wish list (these are very minor) we'd request a gate for the top of the steps upstairs and maybe a few more bath towels. If I ever own a place on BHI, I'd love it to mirror Emmet Place. It's a great home away from home!

  Great views of Old Baldy Lighthouse from the back porch. Nice reverse layout with bedrooms downstairs and kitchen and great room upstairs. Well furnished kitchen and DSL wireless worked well. Very pleasant stay.
