The house is located in the town of Gallatin, 10 min from the center of Pine Plains. This is a wonderful weekender or year round home. Special attention to all details, high end finishes and lovely views.
Elegant floor to ceiling windows throughout the home open the interior to full sun and a view of the gentle stream bordering the property. The book shelf lined living room with fireplace, a bright dining room and sun room overlook the magnificent perennial gardens, romantic stone walls, stairs and paths among the garden. Conceived for comfort, there are 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, reading room and two sitting decks overlooking the stream. The finished lower level with brick floor, full bath and wet bar is furnished for guests to stay over and have privacy and leads to the patio and the spectacular gardens.
The house is wonderful to visit with children as well and is already child proofed.
The house is situated in Pine Plains/Gallatin; 3 minutes to Lake Taghkanic State Park; 20 minutes to Rhinebeck which has shops, movies, and fine dining; 15 minutes to Red Hook, 20 minutes to Poughkeepsie, 30 minutes to Tanglewood musical center, 20 min to Great Barrington, 10 minutes to Millbrook with vineyard tours, hiking and canoeing in Pine Plains and New Paltz, skiing at Hunter Mountain, Jiminy Peak and nearby resorts, horseback riding, great restaurants, 20 minutes to Bard college and Frank Gehry Performing Arts Center.

About the owner: Our family has enjoyed this vacation house for many years while living in Manhattan. The moment we entered the house, we knew it was perfect for us. The beautiful Renaissance style perennial gardes, tranquil stream and the proximity to hiking, skiing and fine dining and entertaiment make this house very special. We enjoy coming for weekends or extended stays.

It is an extraordinarily beautiful area located less than 2 hours from NYC. The property is lovely, with a stream running through it and 100 year old trees. The house fuses a unique contemporary and traditional architectural design, with lots of light and extra large windows in every room.
