Villa Casabianca is a beautiful country house dating back to the 15th century situated on the border between Tuscany and Umbria. Only 15 minutes by car from the Lago Trasimeno and only five minutes from Cortona, one of the 12 members of the holy alliance of etruscan cities (Dodecapolis).

SURROUNDINGS: The Villa is surrounded by olive-grown terraces, vineyards, oak and chestnut forests, and overlooks the Chiana Valley. You find tranquillity and peace here, nature trails invite to explore the surrounding hills on foot or by bike. And yet, Cortonas silhouette can be seen from the house.

The restoration was supervised by the owner herself taking great care of preserving the traditional construction and fusing it with modern-life comfort. Wooden beams and ceiling tiles date back to the origins of the Villa. According to historical reports the original structure of the Villa was the "casa torre" (now the three living-rooms) which then extended according to family needs to its present state.

The Villa consists of three floors divided in the following way and can accomodate 10-12 people.

The ground floor is self-contained with an independent entrance and consists of one master bedroom, one twin bedroom, one bathroom with a shower-cabin and necessary comforts.

The former stable of the casa torre was converted into a comfortable spacious living/dining-room and a fully-equipped kitchen unit.

GROUND FLOOR:
1 living-dining room with a kitchen section
1 master bedroom with double bed
1 bedroom with twin-beds (convertable into double-bed)
1 bathroom with 1 wash basin, shower cabin, wc and bidet

The first floor has a fully-equipped, highly modern, designer kitchen, a large living/dining-room with an ancient fireplace, a master bedroom, a spacious bathroom with a bath-tub and a shower-cabin. The second floor has a large living-room, two master bedrooms, one bathroom with bath-tub and shower and one bathroom with a shower cabin. All three bathrooms count with modern-life comforts.

The ceilings on the top floor are up to six meters high and provide a pleasant natural coolness in summer. Both floors allow a spectacular view on the surrounding hills and the Chiana Valley.

FIRST FLOOR:
1 living-dining room seating up to 12 people with large fire-place
1 fully equipped kitchen, with dishwasher and washing-machine
1 bathroom with 2 wash basins, 1 shower cabin, 1 bath-tub, WC and bidet
1 master-bedroom with dressing area

SECOND FLOOR:
1 living-room with satellite TV
1 bathroom with wash basin, shower-cabin, WC and bidet
1 bathroom with wash basin, bath-tub and shower, WC and bidet
1 master-bedroom with double bed
1 bedroom with twin beds (convertable into double bed)

Three independent terraces were created to ensure privacy and comfort. Two footpaths lead from two of the terraces to the pool which lies amidst olive and oak trees.


SWIMMING POOL: The Swimming pool measures 5 by 10 metres.It was built into one of the olive orchard terraces amidst olive and oak trees looking over the Chiana Valley. From here you can enjoy unforgettable sunsets.

LOCATION: Thanks to her central location the Villa allows her guests to reach all major cities in a fast and easy way be it by car or by train: Florence, Rome, Perugia, Assisi, Arezzo, Siena, Pisa and many more. The Adriatic and Ionian Seaside are reachable in only two hours. Or you can explore Cortona with her many historical treasures found in the different museums, the many churches and archaeological sites. On request the owner can organize wine tasting events or tours, cooking classes, art classes, horseback riding and sight seeing through Cortona and nearby locations.

RESTAURANTS AND TRANSPORT: You can taste regional cuisine in many nearby restaurants easily reached by car. Car rental can be arranged for you at reasonable prices. The two nearest train stations are Terontola, 15 minutes, and Camucia, 10 minutes away.

SPECIAL SERVICES: We offer our guest special services on site like cooking courses, grocery shopping, ceramic and painting courses, car rental, organizing art and wine tours, welcome dinners. If you would like more information on these services please don't hesitate to contact us!

  • I cannot say enough about how lovely this home is and how gracious and generous the owners are! We (5 adults) stayed at the Villa and had tons of space and privacy. We never ceased to be amazed at the beauty of the landscape and the sunsets viewed from the loggia! Roberto's welcoming dinner was unbelievable in its artistry and tastes. Isabel was extraordinarily welcoming and helpful. The nearby town of Pergo has a grocery, pizzeria and gelateria. My son and his wife even hiked to Lake Trasimeno one day! Leila is gentle and friendly and made it feel even more like home. The Villa is beautiful and more than comfortable - Fantastic!! We had fresh vegetables from the garden and cooked at home several evenings! Grazie mille for a wonderful time.

  • I highly recommend Casabianca. Location on the Tuscany/Umbria border, near Cortona, is perfect: splendid views, abundant fruit of the earth, flocks of birds, deep quiet. The house itself (we were upstairs in the main unit) has the benefits of antiquity, including charm and coolness on hot days, combined with a marvelously well-engineered restoration. The modern kitchen is a delight for a cook. And everywhere in this house you will find something beautiful to see -- the decor is ideosyncratic, artistic, and refined. Nearby are walks and runs, with wild blackberries along the path, and the owners' sweet dog, Leila, for company. The owners are kind, worldly, interesting, and attentive: Roberto cooked us a memorable meal, and Jutta was generous with her home grown lettuce, basil, and tomatoes. Lovely!

  • My husband, daughter, and I and several friends just returned from an absolutely fabulous stay at Villa Casabianca, utilizing both the villa and the apartment. The accommodations were outstanding and even more than we expected, but the real beauty of this rental lies in the ability of the hosts to make you feel as though you, too, are Tuscan for a while. Our hosts, Jutta, Isabel, and Roberto, couldn't have been easier to be around or more helpful in every way possible. Then, of course, there's Jutta's fabulous designs that populate the property, Roberto's art and inimitable cuisine, and Isabel's congenial, helpful approach to hosting guests. What a trip - one we will never forget, nor the people we met as a result.

  • Our family stay at this Villa for Christmas of 2005 and New Years 2006 - and we had the best vacation ever. Jutta and her family are such wonderful people and acted as our personal guide throughout our stay. The villa is just amazing and the surroundings magnificient. Cortona is a beautiful place to stay and our daily excursions to Siena, Florence and Rome were very doable - we plan to go back again and this time in warm weather. The Pellecchia Family

  • We loved Casabianca. We rented both the main villa and the apartment below as we had a family group of 8. Both the villa and apartment are stunning and spacious. The owner Jutta and her daughters have done a wonderful job of restoring this historic stone farmhouse with top of the line amenities, and furnishings. An accomplished designer and artist, much of the furniture is of Jutta's own design. The setting is beautiful and the swimming pool was a must during the summer. Cortona which is just a few minutes away is a charming historic town with tons of history and great restaurants. We are avid bicyclists and the area has variety of terrain to suit all levels of riders. The scenery is spectacular. Jutta and her daughters are wonderful people with local insight about what to do and where to go. They and their friends were an invaluable resource.
