The location and the view are spectacular for this 12th floor corner penthouse condo. Large and spacious, the condo spoiled us with a daily humpback whale shows that we could watch from the lanai. We enjoyed long walks each morning from Mahana to Whaler’s Village and beyond along the beach walk. We didn’t spend much time in the pool area but we enjoyed the beach in front of Mahana. The photos on the listing do the place justice. The markets are close by if you want to use the great BBQ’s to make you own dinner. If you don’t want to cook The Gazebo and The Plantation House Restaurant are both highly recommended for breakfast (or lunch). Try Star Noodle but make a reservation. Honokowai Okazuya & Deli offer a great Mahi Mahi Lemon Caper Sautee too.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We were a family of 8 (7 adults + an infant), with half the crowd visiting Hawaii for the first time...we truly lucked out with this condo!! As pretty much all prior reviews, you can't beat the views from this condo - absolutely amazing! I don't think you can possibly get any closer to the water than the location of this building, as it's literally ON THE BEACH!! We were there during whale season, and had the pleasure of watching whales right from our living room - don't think many people can say they've done that before! It was truly a great sight! Additionally - being a big coffee fan, my personal favorite was sitting out on the lanai, sipping my cup of coffee while listening to the ocean and experiencing a perfect fresh breeze... Besides the view, the condo is good size - all 7 of us adults had beds (and a crib for the lil guy). The basic amenities and appliances are all there and in good working condition...we made breakfast every morning for the family and there were no issues at all. Being used to and preferring a firm mattress, we thought the bed in the master was to the softer side; however definitely not a big deal...we couldn't wait to get up in the morning to the ocean waves! Location is very good too - there's a strip mall right across the complex with a full grocery store, hair and nail salon, restaurants & several other stores. The town of Lahaina is a short drive away, as are most of the main attractions. The complex itself has a very friendly staff, along with a concierge desk that can answer any questions and help with activity planning! Thanks for an enjoyable stay - we'll hopefully be back soon!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This corner penthouse condo has the best view from the Mahana at Kaanapali. It is also a view of one of the most beautiful locations in the world. We have stayed at the Mahana 7 times and this is the best location in the complex. There is good air conditioning in all rooms. It is clean and well maintained. The king bed in the master bedroom and the two twins in the mountain view bedroom all have comfortable pillowtop mattresses. New sheets and pillow cases for all beds are ready to be used. Only minutes after we arrived, an ample supply of new bath and hand towels and wash cloths were delivered to our unit. The kitchen is supplied with more dishes, glassware and flatware than we have ever had anywhere we have stayed. There is a large side by side refrigerator with ice and water dispensers. The range is not perfectly level, which makes frying eggs tricky. All the pots, pans and bowls necessary for cooking are in good supply. There is a hand can opener only. The living and dining furniture is nice and relatively new. We really liked its island decor because it adds to the aura of where we were. In the living room is a nice LG HDTV, I think probably a 47 incher. Reception was good but not full HD. The master bedroom has an older smaller tube type TV. There is no TV in the Mountain view bedroom. The lanai is spacious and has expensive cushioned furniture (4 chairs) and an expensive round stone topped table. There are two additional comfortable strapped chairs. Our son and daughter in law, celebrating their 10th anniversary on 2/14, stayed in a studio at the Mahana and spent a lot of their time with the three of us (including our sister in law) in our unit. There was plenty of room for all of us and our stay there was wonderful, leaving us with plenty of good-time memories. PS Ziplining was just one of the many experiences we had on Maui. Exciting, even for us old ones!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Some people have had the nerve to write very poor reviews on this unit because it has not likley ever been renovated. This place does not deserve a poor review because it offers an exceptional view of the ocean and beach. There were only a few things that dissappointed us during our entire stay. The old washing machine destroyed some of our clothing items and the air vent above the shower was extremely dirty which left us with a bit of an uncomfortable feeling while showering. The stacking dryer was frustrating to use as it took 4 cycles to dry our clothes. If we chose to stay in this unit again, we will locate a laundromat. There is no long distance plan so it is best to arrange a plan with your cell phone carrier if you choose to stay in this unit. The kitchen cupboards are very old and do need to be stripped because the white paint is either flaking or bubbling in various spots. The dishwasher is also very old and should be replaced in the near future as it did only an average job at cleaning the dishes. There are loose floor tiles in the hallway that are need of repair. We enjoyed our stay at this unit and these various shortcomings did not take away from the beautiful views this unit had to offer. Those that have complained about the lack of decor or the dated flooring & fixtures have to be very difficult to please. A place of this size could cost a significant amount to renovate. The age of this units' tile flooring, kitchen, bathrooms....etc didn't really phase us because we loved the view so much. Also, the bed we slept on was very comfortable, and I personally liked some of the furnishings. About a block or two down the beach, north or south, there is a place to go swimming with less Coral so our kids would not get cut. Out front of this unit, the snorkling is very good but you have to be careful not to touch the coral as it is very sharp and tall in areas. We rented a location in Kihei the week earlier, and although the unit in Kihei was half as expensive, that location did not compare to this one. As the experts say: Location, Location, Location and this place certainly has it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: This client requested money from me to write a final third review. He wrote 3 reviews: first two were Five stars. When I would not give money for the another review, he changed it to three stars. The condo was renovated very recently with fresh paint, new furniture, new glassware, new bedding, new lanai furniture. In addition to getting a HUGE HUGE HUGE deduction as a last minute special ranging into the thousands of dollars, he wants additional money for a review. I gave him 60% off. There is nothing wrong with the tiles. I am not giving him an international telephone plan. The dryer works well. This man is a schemer and I will NOT NOT NOT give him any money. This troublemaker wants to return to my condo next year to make more chaos and I told him he is not to be trusted. He comes from a foreign country where I was cheated on the exchange rate. Furthermore, he said he has no money for a car rental, but he rented a car for two weeks. Additionally, he said he had no money for island activities and spent two thousand dollars on such. How does anyone handle such a liar.

I have recently contacted Peter (Owner) for a short-term stay, after seeing the beautiful pictures & reviewing the awesome comments left by previous occupants. He was nice enough to allow me to stay on such short notice. I'm so glad that I did! The view alone from here was breathtakingly beautiful & truly amazing! & yet I got all that & more! This particular condo truly brings out the true essence of Hawaii. The furniture & decor definitely makes you feel as if you are truly in paradise. Framed photos in the hallway take you through the different aspects of the traditions celebrated here in Hawaii - the living room furniture are all in traditional Hawaii decor - wicker, aloha print couches w/ firm cushions & definitely made for comfort. Surrounded by wood/glass coffee tables, end tables, a flat-screen t.v. & complete central air conditioning for the hot, humid days..I didn't want to leave. All the comforts you could expect from home, in a unique vacation setting is what was advertised & what was offered. The bedrooms have very soft, very comfortable beds - The kitchen was fully equipped with appliances, utensils & dishes - there was a stacked washer/dryer combo in the master bedroom & the patio included a table & chairs for added relaxation. I will definitely be back & I definitely recommend this unit to everyone - THANK YOU PETER!!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The view was, as advertised, spectacular, the air conditioning worked well and the location near Kaanapali good, however, that's where it stops. We were very disappointed in the amenities at the condo. It is very dated. The sliding glass door in the master bedroom which leads to the lanai never worked...very awful. The basics one should expect from a supposed higher end place simply were not there. You should not come to Hawaii and have to go buy napkins, paper towels, dish soap, bar soap; those should absolutely be provided. The pots and pans were horrendous; bent and cheap. The roll away bed was a joke as no one could ever sleep on it with the pitiful mattress on it. We were told there would be beach chairs and towels and there was nothing of the sort. The lanai had cheap plastic table and chairs. Overall experience was not good. This was not worth the money we paid. Sorry I could not be more positive but I would highly NOT recommend this unit although the area was lovely.Owner response: This tenant made up a pack of lies...................unfortunately. First of all, this woman called me countless times from California before she arrived over nothing. The sliding door works perfectly, although it is quite heavy to protect the condo against TROPICAL STORMS. The Supermarket is across the street. The roll-a-way bed is for the 9th ninth guest, and when that would occur - never. (It is intended for a child.) It was NOT needed for three people. I have a two bedroom condo with new bedding and wonderful furniture. Beach furniture was available in front of the condo complex, and around the pooland be seen in my pictures as such. Beach towels are not available and she was told that after ten telephone calls. The lanai furniture is solid steel lanai furniture that was recently sand-blasted and NEW. The table is made of THICK glass with the lanai furniture overall very substantial. She called me ten times because she was constantly losing her information, etc. Once, 1:30 in the morning. The Hotel will charge her significantly more per night plus TAX - plus a daily amenities fee. She got a bargain. The amenities are perfect with new small appliances, a wonderful refrigerator, a beautiful modern stove. and a fine dishwasher and just painted condo etc. Furthermore, She left the condo filled with household garbage and all the linens used and thrown all around the condo with the fridge ridiculously dirty. Obviously, this was over paper towels and a roll-a-way bed which was most evidently not intended for her use . Moreover, I called my cleaning man and there were paper towels, soap dishes, toilet paper, etc. She was told BEFORE she arrived to telephone immediately if there were any problems whatsoever. She did not. Consequently, I find this VERY VERY VERY disturbing. ...................................

My wife and I celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary by staying in this fabulous condo May 20 - June 1 2012. We enjoyed working with the owner, he was very helpful in planning our trip. The front desk and Activities Director were friendly and very helpful in planning our vacationing activities. We thoroughly enjoyed all the amenties, clean hottub, clean large pool with great views oceanfront, free parking with easy access to and from the condo, clean grills to use with no waiting, beautiful flowers, great lounging by the oceanfront. The views from this condo are beyond words, the mountains to the back and side views, oceanfront and beach views from the den, dining area, lanai, the most beautiful sunsets you will ever see were fabulous every evening. The condo was large and spacious, furnished well, beds very comfortable, we enjoyed the new furniture and appliances, the unit was very quiet. We highly recommend this premier condo to couples or families. We can't wait to return. Thanks Peter!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

The Mahana is my favorite place to stay in Maui and Unit 1219 is the best location in the building. The views from this 12th floor end unit are fabulous. You can hear the sound of the ocean waves 24/7. I have stayed in this Condo for several weeks every winter for the past six years. The bedrooms have tropical furniture and fairly new beds that are very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and has Kitchen Aid appliances. The living area and Lanai is nicely furnished for relaxing and enjoying the views. There is a stacked washer / dryer off the master bedroom and a large flat screen tv in the living room. This year, a brand new coffee maker, microwave oven, toaster and blender were in the kitchen. Packages also arrived with new dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, towels and bedding. In addition the owner indicated that 6 new pieces of furniture were going to be delivered as soon as I checked out and that he would be doing some renovations that included painting and new light fixtures. Looking forward to returning again next winter.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
