The condo is spacious and has spectacular views. The location is great - close to the supermarket, restaurants and right on the beach and walking path. Although there are a few new appliances in the kitchen and the unit was clean, the property itself is dated and we felt it was overpriced for its condition.
Owner response:I just spent almost $5000 on upgrades and all properties on Kaanapali are older, so I am glad that they enjoyed themselves at my condo. The hotel front desk charges way more with these people getting a bargain. The hotel does not have any high floors (above the forth floor) offering my extraordinary VIEW. They got about $200.00 off per day IF such a condo was offered. They were to give me a 5 star rating so I am very very shocked...........

I was trying to find a place to stay a couple nigths for my family and I found this Jewel in the Mahana 1219, first I spoke with the Owner and was very helpful with my short stay( Mahalo Peter) , also I discovered a New Sofa with this hawaiian print very Chic and cozy also with 2 matching chairs super comfort , the flat screen in the living room big enough for my 2 daugthers , New micro-oven, Toaster and Coffemaker , also I noticed a new set of towels of all kind ( beach, bath , kitchen ,etc ) and plenty of them. Was great to have plenty of pans and pots( I loved to cook)...also the condo has set of cutlery easy for 8 people , along with bowls, plates , glasses ,etc. The A/C is a plus and the washer and drier helps a lot. The chandelier in the dining room is nice touch. We really enjoyed this place ... we just relax ...and relax...of course We will be back , and of course I recommend 100 % this condominium . Even if you stay is short like Us...we loved , also the place was clean all around very neat and sparkling ....Mahalo again for let me stay at you condo Peter.....See Ya!!!!!
Owner response:THANK YOU for an honest review. It was a pleasure to serve you. I have a FIVE STAR Hawaiian condo....................

This property is in a great location, the Mahano is an older but very nice building and just like described a million dollar view from this unit. But also as discribed the unit and furnishings were just wore out and in terrible need of updating and remodeling. In this price bracket and in comparison to many other units we have rented in the local area the past years, we were disappointed. Million Dollar view with a Motel 6 decor.

The Mahana is my favorite place to stay in Maui and Unit 1219 is the best location in the building. The views from this 12th floor end unit are fabulous. You can hear the sound of the ocean waves 24/7. I have stayed in this Condo for several weeks every winter for the past six years. The bedrooms have tropical furniture and fairly new beds that are very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and has Kitchen Aid appliances. The living area and Lanai is nicely furnished for relaxing and enjoying the views. There is a stacked washer / dryer off the master bedroom and a large flat screen tv in the living room. This year, a brand new coffee maker, microwave oven, toaster and blender were in the kitchen. Packages also arrived with new dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, towels and bedding. In addition the owner indicated that 6 new pieces of furniture were going to be delivered as soon as I checked out and that he would be doing some renovations that included painting and new light fixtures. Looking forward to returning again next winter.

The view from this condo was beautiful and we enjoyed the lanai, but the interior was awful. The light in the master bath was not functioning, so I got to shower with the door open, or in the dark, and it took 3 days to fix. The sliding door to the lanai in the master bedroom was very difficult to operate (stuck). And the decor was awful. The tile changed randomly from old to new, and the interior didn't look as if it had been updated for 20 years. It was mostly clean, but not immaculate. I've stayed in other condos at the Mahana, and would recommend the complex overall. Check in and out is easy and parking is plentiful.
Owner response:I have beautiful furniture. All newish Bedroom Furniture. The living room has some vintage furniture which must be appreciated. I own the Unit for about 13 years. The tenant abused the apartment. She had a basketball group in there and left the unit devastated and vandalized. The unit had to be cleaned for 5 or six hours.

We found this condo with not much lead time...in fact many condo's we looked at on VRBO were taken by the time we decided to go to Maui...about a month prior to going. We were happy to find this one open for the week we wanted. Not knowing what the accommodations would be like, we went on faith that it would be a good unit and good location. We hadn't been to Maui in many years. We were not disappointed. The condo is on the top floor and overlooks a spectacular piece of beach with great opportunities for snorkeling, walking, and enjoying the ocean. The view is INCREDIBLE, morning, noon and night. We missed the whale season, but spotted giant sea turtles from the condo balcony, on a daily basis. There is plenty of room to spread out. We had 4 teenage boys with us...two slept in the spare room and two on the pull out couch. There is also a roll-away bed. The condo is close to everything in Kaanapali and we did EVERYTHING. Snorkeling, sunset cruise, para-sailing, shopping, a luau, boogie boarding, walking, swimming...everything. The people at the Mahana were very friendly and helpful with planning our activities. We love being able to cook in, and we cooked in about every other night and most other meals. The kitchen is very well equipped. There are places to eat close by, but be sure to make reservations ahead if you can. There were some minor repair issues in the bathrooms of the condo, but we made the owner aware of them, and I'm sure they were taken care of. Thank you so much Peter for the use of your beautiful condo. We have many great memories there, and we warmed up after a long winter. Your friends in Alaska!

My family stayed in this condo in November 2010. I searched for many weeks for a place to stay that would comfortably accommodate 4 adults and 2 children. I chose this place after reading many reviews on various sites. The Kaanapali Penthouse condo was roomy, clean and comfortable; it had private separate bedrooms and baths plus gorgeous views. I couldn't have said it better than what has already been posted by other guests. We were so pleased with the accommodations. Based on our family's experience, I would highly recommend this place...we can't wait to return to Maui...and this condo will be at the top of our list.

Our family celebrated New Years 2010 in this oceanfront Maui Condo. The unit is spacious, decorated nicely with Hawaiian décor and has a well equipped kitchen. Both bedrooms have new mattresses that were very comfortable. A convenient washer / dryer combination is just off the master bedroom. The living room and Lanai provided plenty of room and comfortable furniture for our family of five. There is very large TV in the living room. We were very happy with how quiet and peaceful it was.

I have stayed in Peter’s condo four times in the past five years. The last visit was from mid January to Mid March of 2010. The first time I visited Maui was for a week and knew I had to go back. After searching the Internet for countless hours for the right place I decided on the “Mahana” and found the availability for the month I wanted in this unit. Whenever I book something with out seeing it, I am very nervous and I have had plenty of disappointments. When I opened the door and saw the view I was ecstatic. Picture yourself on the 12th floor in a corner unit with unobstructed views of the ocean and the Islands of Molokai and Lanai. The building is so close to the ocean that you have to walk right up to the floor to wall windows to see the beach. Being in a corner unit gives you the bonus of looking out at the mile of beautiful beach that leads to Black Rock and Kaanapollii Beach. Wow – I was in heaven. The master bedroom has sliding doors out to the Lanai so you can let the sound of the waves put you to sleep. If you get stuck in the second bedroom you will have to settle for the majestic view of the mountains. This is what I love about Peter’s Condo: Spectacular views and sunset’s daily, the best whale watching in Maui (I have taken literally thousands of photos from the Lanai of whales breaching and dolphins frolicking right out in front), great reef with awesome snorkeling, paddle boarding and swimming, the sound of the ocean waves breaking onto shore 24/7. The condo is very soundproof and I cannot ever recall hearing any noise trough the walls. The furniture and bedding is very comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped and a washer and dryer hidden in the bedroom closet so you can pack light! The Mahana is not a “mega hotel style complex” with lots of noise, slides in the swimming pool and where you need to fight for a lounge chair at the beach or pool. If that is what you want – look elsewhere. If you want peace, privacy, awesome views, the sound of the ocean in a location that is close to Lahina, shopping, restaurants’ and all the beauty of Maui this is the place to go. My stays have all been for at least a month and as long as two months and I have no desire to stay anywhere else. The 12th floor is the place to be for the best views and don’t be concerned about getting to the beach quickly. The elevators are fast and you are walking in the sand with in seconds of leaving the condo. Thanks Peter for sharing your slice of heaven!

Thank you Peter for the opportunity to stay at Mahana. Your 12th floor unit was perfect for my family. The location is ideal, the complex is quiet and not overcrowded like many seem to be. The condo is very well laid out, clean and well appointed. Of course the views are incredible, and the long stretch of beach is great for morning walks. Everything is close by and very convenient. Once again, a terrific place to stay. Thank you Peter!!
Owner response:I appreciate your business and your honest appraisal. 1000 THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to first thank Peter for allowing us to stay in his condo. This was our first time to Maui. I really had some reservation on where to stay, because you really never know what you are getting into. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS PPOPERTY. We had six people staying with us. This location and view is the best of Maui (in my opinion). There is plenty to keep you busy. You can snorkel directly in front of the Mahana. Peter’s place has the best view that you can ask for. This might sound too good to be true, but it’s the real deal. I enjoyed every part of our vacation. I wish that we had someone put confidence in our selection and you won’t go wrong with this property. Peter we will be back. Thanks for the GREAT place to stay.Sincerely,Derrick Odle

Nice to just sit in the condo and relax. Complex is great. This is an excellent place for a little group. Conceirge is accomodating. I would like to make a few comments about Peter's condo. First, the Mahana is an excellent complex and it couldn't be located more perfectly in all the world. The views from this condo are truly spectacular. There are several exceptional features in addition to the view that are not at all typical: there is a large Sony TV, and excellent quality appliances in the kitchen-not the standard fare. The decor and accessories are eclectic which make the unit homey and comfortable.
Owner response:You were such a wonderful person to do business with. I am happy you enjoyed my Mahana unit and everything went smoothly in our business transaction as it has had for me the last ten years. We hope to see you and your lovely family again. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
