A Perfect Place for Us
A Perfect Place for Us
This cottage is uniquely placed on the Davis Bayou and in the side yard of the owner which made us feel perfectly safe even though we rarely saw them. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed and allowed us to put our kayaks right in the water there. The cottage is close but not in Ocean Springs. It is also close to Pascagoula and Biloxi. It was Mardi Gras time so we took in a couple of the parades. Ocean Springs and Biloxi have art museums and walkable water fronts. We had a wonderful time. We recommend it highly.

A nice retreat
A nice retreat
This is the second time we've stayed at this cabin, and the experience was just as good as the first. The cabin faces the bayou with large windows, and it's quite peaceful, yet in the middle of town. The only drawback is that the wifi hasn't been set up, but we knew that going in. It did work under the previous owners, but has not been set up by the new owners yet. Not a huge deal as it let us focus on each other.

I spent several days here over the Christmas break. I was relaxing and also spending time with my son and his family. My grandchildren (6 and 10) loved the cabin. They tried fishing off the dock, but I think it was too cold even for the fish. They were wanting to climb trees, but I didn't think that was a good idea without their parents being there! The cabin is comfortable--even without a dishwasher or Internet. I was a little uncomfortable with uncovered windows in the living room area, but it was delightful in the daytime to sit and look out over the water. I was delighted to see a washer and dryer as I had not realized they were there! Unfortunately, it was too cold to enjoy the porch. I'd love to return in Spring or Fall and do that. The cabin felt safe as it is in a very nice neighborhood and it is near all necessary stores, etc. I recommend it for a fun, peaceful getaway.

Nice cabin / falsely advertised
Nice cabin / falsely advertised
This is a very nice cabin - Pictures do the inside of the cabin justice, however, pictures nor does description show the location/outside of the cabin. The cabin is in the back of a neighborhood - adjacent to the owners’ house. When my family booked the cabin, we were looking for a Nature Lovers get away to relax and get away from it all. After reading the description and reviews, I jumped on this chance and prepaid for two nights, as required. Upon arrival, I was dumbfounded to see that we were in a neighborhood and camping in someones backyard. There were several different houses to choose from online, but with time of year being cooler outside, my family decided to camp away from the beaches and make it a quite weekend. If I would have known the location or Seen true pictures showing how close we are to the other houses, along with a dog kennel right across the street of the cabin with a very vocal night active dog, I would have chosen an alternate location. The back porch was nice, but not as private as I was led to believe. The pictures online show the porch from one angle, but if you take pictures facing the other way, you will see that the back porch is in plain view of all of the other houses in the back cul-de-sac. There really isn’t that much privacy as the ad falsely advertised. I wanted to leave the uncomfortable situation after the first night, but everything was pre-paid. I feel as if I was tricked and taken advantage of. On the day that we were packing up and getting ready to leave, several of the neighbors/or owners dogs came into the cabin and unfortunately urinated on the floor as well as on our suitcase. I was just so aggravated that I wanted to just get out. The cabin was nice on the inside - Pictures are as it shows on the inside. The outside is mis-leading and I feel as if it should be adjusted so that others are not left feeling as deceived as i was. My children enjoyed the loft in the cabin as well as the games and movies that are provided. Everything would have been great if either A: I expected to be in someones backyard or B: I was secluded in nature as I was led to believe. I hate to leave a negative review, but I just want other travelers to know Exactly what you are paying for. As stated, the inside of the cabin is nice – with all the amenities. If you are not looking for seclusion, this cabin would be nice. Just not what my family was looking for.

Owner response: I am very disheartened that if you found the surroundings to be less what you imagined, that you did not attempt to address the issue upon your arrival. Had you made me aware that you were not satisfied, I would have allowed you to make alternate travel arrangements, if that was your desire. Nowhere in the description for our cabin does it ever state that the cabin is out in the middle of the woods. It is, in fact, nestled on a tranquil bend on beautiful Davis Bayou, just as described, and a nature-lover's paradise where you can relax on the back porch and feel like you are away from it all. When sitting on the back porch, the only other house in view is my own, which is next door, and those far away on the other side of the bayou. In the driving directions that I sent on the day of your booking (which was also the day prior to your arrival), I specifically described that you would turn into a subdivision and that that the cabin was all the way in the back, next door to my home. The neighborhood is high end, and our property sits on 2.5 acres back on the bayou. I really wish you had voiced your displeasure with me upon your arrival or the following morning so that that we could have dealt with things in a professional manner that would have been satisfactory to all. I am certainly sorry to hear that pets caused you a problem--that is certainly not the norm. I take great pride in our cabin and do my best to insure that our guests have only great things to say and want to come back. Until now, that has been a 100% success with nothing less than 5 star reviews. I strive for nothing less.
Wanted a beautiful, quiet, natural and comfortable place to hide away from the rest of the world while traveling for a little business, a little pleasure and a lot of relaxation. The cabin was exactly what I was looking for. Open space living area, comfortable bedroom, beautiful porch, cozy loft and just the right size, well-equipped kitchen area. Wendy was great to work with, easy accessible to answer any and all questions, and privacy was respected during the entire stay. There is a huge selection of great movies to watch when you're there and the back deck was made for inspiring conversations while porchsitting with friends! I would definitely recommend this property to anyone and everyone! This visit to the cabin will not be my last.

Great place to get away!
No more hotels for my family! If you are thinking about getting a hotel like Hilton, DON'T. This was an absolute great place to get away. As a corporate pilot, I've had to live half of my life in a many different hotel brands and this cabin beats them all. I highly recommending this cabin.

Owner response: Thank you for the great review. So glad you were pleased!
The host was very nice and property was very nice as well. We enjoyed a spacious cabin on a bayou. The cabin was well furnished and all the amenities available. Uniquely, a large assortment of of movies, magazines and books are available. Kitchen is fully furnished. We were more interested in eating out, but meal preparation is part of your experience if that is what you want. There is a nice bedroom, and another upstairs, although we didn't go up there. Might be fun for kids. This was an excellent choice for us.

The cabin was just adorable. We had such a relaxing and enjoyable time. Loved sitting on the large porch enjoying the wildlife and the water way. The loft bedroom would be great for younger people, however, the ladder was a little steep for someone older. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting to relax and enjoy the quiet, yet be close to the water, restaurants, and casinos. We look forward to perhaps staying again in the near future. Wendy and Kevin are very nice and will do their best to make your stay enjoyable.

Owner response: Thank you for your nice review! We are so glad that you enjoyed yourselves and hope you come back to visit soon. For anyone who hasn't been to the cabin yet, I just want to point out that the "loft" bedroom is an extra. The main bedroom is on the ground floor and easily accessible. :-)
We brought our two boys (8 and 6) along with our small outboard fishing boat to stay a long weekend. The cabin was absolutely delightful, the boys loved spending the night in the loft! The boys got to fish all they wanted from the dock and the inland waterways, catching mostly small Brim. The cabin is very close to grocery shopping, lovely dining and great shopping boutiques. We also took advantage of two different nearby public beaches to give the kids something else to occupy their time. Although the water wasn't as crystal blue as you would expect from a Florida beach...the kids didn't seem to mind at all!! Overall, we had a great time and made memories that will last a lifetime!

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
This property is located in the city limits and at the back of a small neighborhood, but from the back porch, it feels like it is nestled in a quiet country setting. The deep back porch is a great place to unwind with a good book or just to watch the tide roll in and out. Your coffee just tastes better on the back porch of the cabin.
