New Paltz farmhouse description
Our historic 4 bedroom French Huguenot style farmhouse was built in 1796 and is bordered by 17,500 acres of the forests, streams and lakes of the Mohonk Preserve and Minnewaska State Park. You can literally step out of the house onto over 80 miles of hiking and biking trails.
The entire home was completely remodeled this year and has all new appliances and furnishings. There is a chef’s kitchen with island and adjacent dining area with large country dining table for family meals. The living room has a massive stone fireplace for evenings by the fire.
All the bedrooms are designed for comfort with pillow top mattresses. Two bedrooms have king sized beds, one has a queen and one has two twins that can be easily converted to a king. The master bedroom has its own private bath.
The house has air conditioning and all bedrooms have ceiling fans.
The stone back deck is a great place to observe wildlife including squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, deer, cardinals, great blue heron, and Canada geese. The back deck is also equipped with a BBQ, chase lounges, and dining table for outdoor living.
The house is located between the Hamlet of High Falls and the town of New Paltz and is minutes away from the renowned Mohonk Mountain House with spa that is ranked #1 in the country by Conde Nast. Monhonk Mountain House also has a fabulous restaurant, tennis courts, and golf course.
Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the nearby hiking and biking paths, rock climbing, swimming and cross country skiing. The area is also known for fantastic antiquing and great restaurants, given its proximity to the Culinary Institute of America located just across the Hudson River.
Rental is available year-round on a flexible basis for guests and families looking for a quiet, relaxing rural retreat or active family vacation.
Check-in is after 4pm and check-out is by 11 am unless otherwise arranged directly with the manager.

Clean, commodious, and well appointed, this 200+ year old house manages to be utterly modern while exuding quaint charm. We particularly appreciated the kitchen, which has both first class appliances and all the smaller tools and gadgets you could need, including a fine set of knives. The big fireplace is a DREAM, with a terrific draft. The bedrooms are lovely and very very comfortable. There are too many area attractions to count, and we hardly had time to scratch the surface. It's worth noting that besides being a first class property, it has first class service. The property agent is very responsive, and everything about our long weekend was relaxed but well supported.

A Home for all Seasons
A Home for all Seasons
What a fabulous home! This property does not feel like a "rental" at all! It has all of the amenities and coziness of home. Every room has been redone with quality finishes and furniture befitting a 16th century Hugenot farmhouse. The rooms and bedrooms are all generously sized and super comfortable, clean, and fresh. The kitchen is fabulous to cook in and the dining room table is perfect for a Thanksgiving feast or a intimate dinner with friends. You can walk miles from the property without seeing a house or lots of people. The carriage roads nearby are perfectly groomed for walks or mountain bikes. The outside deck is ideal for spotting blue jays, cardinals, deer and other wildlife while sipping your morning coffee or having cocktails and a barbecue on a summer night. When the weather cooled down after dinner , we all ajourned to the family room and played games, talked, and laughed seated by a roaring fire in the fireplace. Will definitely go back back again and recommend to our friends as a place to stay any season. Want to rent next time in the fall for the spectacular fall colors. Oh, and did I forget to mention all of the darling shops, antiques, organic farms , restaurants and towns nearby- so much to explore and so little time...Could go back again and again!

My family stayed at this lovely house for a week in August. The owners have done a wonderful job in renovating and maintaining the house and we felt lucky to be there. The photos on the website are accurate - the living room is serene and comfortable, the kitchen a cook's dream. The beds were very comfortable and apparently newly-renovated bathrooms just great. We were lucky enough with the weather that we sat outside for every meal we cooked at the house, and the backyard was beautiful with a nice deep view. Bruce, the rental manager, was helpful and responsive from the beginning of the rental process to the end. I expect we will return!

Historic Stone, Quaint Town, Near Terrific Outdoor Hiking and a Top-Rated Spa
Historic Stone, Quaint Town, Near Terrific Outdoor Hiking and a Top-Rated Spa
My husband and I rented this historic stone cottage for three summer nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We are cooks and hikers who also appreciate quality living, so this house was perfect. The owners and Bruce, the manager, are very attentive to guests: Great and helpful communication throughout our stay, lots of good books and magazines about the area (we enjoyed reading about the birds we were seeing on the property), including current events; wonderful furniture; Netflix! The kitchen is well-equipped, and the charming towns nearby (High Falls, Stone Ridge, New Patlz) have good food stores, including for organic eaters. We also ate out at fun local establishments. The property is very close to the Mohonk Mountain Preserve and Lake Minnewaska, and we enjoyed hiking both places. If you are a spa lover, the Mohonk Spa is a very special treat, and for one treatment you get full-day, come and go privileges, including to all of the grounds for hiking. One caution: Guests might wish to be aware that the water in Ulster County has naturally occurring minerals, including sulfur. In all, we are very glad we found this terrific vacation rental!

Manager response: So glad you enjoyed your stay. Ken and Susan Churchill
We rented the house for a summer weekend with some friends. The house was clean and tastefully furnished, and was the perfect size for 8 people (4 couples), with good sized bedrooms and enough common areas for everyone to spread out. The kitchen was well equipped, the cooks amongst us were very happy grilling on the patio or putting a roast in the oven. The house is near to Lake Minnewaska, where we spent a pleasant day hiking. Bruce, the property manager, was very helpful and prompt in answering our questions and providing directions to the house. We'll definitely keep this listing as a favorite.

Manager response: This is an amazing home and we thank you for your visit and your kind words. Please do come see us again!! Respectfully, B
We had an amazing weekend getaway here and after visiting the area several times and renting several different homes I must say that this was our best experience yet. The house, having been recently renovated feels like it is brand new although the owners managed to retain the charm you'd expect in a house with so much history. It's very spacious and the beds are so comfortable! There is a fully stocked kitchen with everything you would need for most meals, this allowed us to stay in both nights and enjoy the fireplace. The directions we were given were very precise and even though we arrived late Fri night we had no problem finding the house. The location is also amazing if you're interested in hiking or mountain biking in the Mohonk Preserve which is just a couple miles away. We did go into High Falls one morning for breakfast but other than that we had everything we needed at the property. We look forward to returning this summer!

Why New Paltz:
We fell in love with the High Falls area when our daughter chose it for her wedding in 2008. Having a stone farm house surrounded by the natural beauty of this area of the Hudson River Valley is a dream come true for us and is a homecoming of sorts for Susan who grew up in Poughkeepsie. We are only the fifth family to own the home and are honored to be part of its incredible 217 year history. Our primary residence is in Sonoma County, California where we grow wine grapes and produce wine under our own label.
