Map & Owner's Profile
Secluded 4000 Foot Elevation... Mountain Cabin (Non-Smoking)
Year Purchased: 1999
Why the Owner Chose Waynesville
We knew we wanted to retire in the Smokey Mountains but were not sure where. We rented a house in Highlands for a month in November 1995 to look for the right place. We searched the mountains from Murphy and Andrews to Boone and Blowing Rock and everything in between. We got to know dozens of real estate agents. Towards he end of the month we knew Waynesville was the place. It had high elevation, a small town near a larger one, supermarkets, live theater, movie house, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, a community college, a fine library, arts and crafts, friendly people and just everything we were desiring. We wanted a big piece of land; we had lived on a 50 X 150 lot in New Orleans. We have almost 14 acres, a cascading, singing creek to put us to sleep, total privacy, birds, trees, sometimes we see a deer, a turkey or a bobcat. The setting is truly ideal.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
The cabin is well appointed and equipped with everything you'll need other than
food and beverages. It has condiments, spices, ice and what ever the previous
guest left behind.
Owner's Map of Waynesville
Frank and Edwina moved to Waynesville from New Orleans to get away from the heat and politics. They got away from the heat; the politics here aren't any better than in Louisiana. Both native Orleanians, Frank was an insurance broker and Edwina had a gourmet to-go food business. They still drink chicory coffee, cook Cajun and Creole dishes and talk funny. They enjoy having guests in their cabin and frequently invite them up to the main house for a drink, a snack and a look around.

My son and I had a very restful and enjoyable time at the cabin. Great access to neighboring cities or the mountains. The cabin was well equipped with internet connection, washer and dryer, and all the kitchen items you normally use. It was peaceful with no other cabin in sight. We heard no outside noises day or night- no cars, or dogs barking, etc. The living area was very comfortable. The cost was very reasonable.
Owner response:Thanks for the nice review. We sincerely appreciate it. Edwina and Frank

For the second time, I was fortunate enough to stay in this cabin. With its rushing waterfall and dense foliage, the place is fairy-book charming. The cabin sits at a fairly good altitude, but access to it is easy, and it is close to a plethora of great entertainment: wonderful restaurants, good hiking trails, Waynesville, and Maggie. The owners, Frank and Edwina, could not be more accomodating. In my mind, for a comfortable mountain vacation, it cannot be beat.
