This gem, up one flight of stairs, is secluded, private, and spacious. Nestled in the trees on 3+ acres with over 250'+ of private beach on the sparkling North Shore of Lake Michigan.

National and State Forests to the East provide a thriving habitat for Bald Eagles, Sand Hill Cranes, and Deer which wander past your window as you take in the spectacular view of the lake. Settle in for the evening by a cozy fire and listen to the the gentle sounds of Lake Michigan lapping at the shore, but don't fall asleep until you've taken in the stars through the six sky lights above.

Within an hours drive, you can visit lighthouses, waterfalls, and historic forts. Sault St Marie (Soo Locks), Mackinaw City (shopping, theaters, fort, and new water park), St. Ignace (gambling, shopping, and museums),Mackinac Island, Lake Superior (Whitefish Point Lighthouse, Tahquamenon Falls, one hour North) are highlights that will make your trip memorable. One of the best kept secrets is the Cut River located just minutes from our property. This natural gorge provides a wonderful hike as well as picturesque view of the lake.

There are miles of trails to explore by foot, horseback snowmobile, or four-wheel ATV. If fishing interests you, fly-fish some of the finest steelhead and brook trout streams anywhere (we support 'catch-and-release'... or 'clean-on-the-river'...).

Just four miles to the east are two restaurants and to the west enjoy the small fishing village of Naubinway where fresh Whitefish is caught/sold daily. Groceries, gas, and antique shops are readily available within a short drive.

Winter enthusiasts can enjoy snowmobiling out the door to state land or along the lakeshore to Hog Island Road and trails everywhere even to the Wisconsin border. Snowshoes are available for up to four people.

Very Beautiful

Guest: Lisa (Hudson, Mi)
Date of Stay: 07/14/11 Review Submitted: 09/01/11

This place is absolutely beautiful. The views are breathtaking. We came in July for a quiet getaway and that is exactly what we got. It was so peaceful and calming. We walked on the beach, sat by the bonfire in the evenings and just enjoyed ourselves. The Loft itself is very private. It is nicely decorated and had ample room. It was amazing to look out the wall of windows, while lying in bed at night, and viewing the stars. I can't wait to go back.

Two wonderful weeks at Cedar Loft

Guest: Jacob (Niles, IL)
Date of Stay: 05/27/11 Review Submitted: 06/17/11

My wife and I spent two wonderful weeks at Cedar Loft in June. The place is beautiful and charming. Clean, neat and well appointed. As other guests indicated, the photos, even done professionally, do not give it the full credit it deserves. The large open space is full of air but not intimidating as it is clever broken down into different areas: kitchen, living and bedroom. Warm colors of walls and ceiling wood make it very special. So, when for few days the weather not inviting to go outside, we enjoyed our relaxing time inside. The place is filled with all imaginable magazines, booklets and maps with information about the area. The sandy beach is just yards away. There are chairs on beach and a around the fire pit, which is “stocked” with plenty of seasoned firewood. We were initially concerned that being right next to the owner might limit our privacy. On the contrary, Dianne’s help and advices and tips were offered when we needed them and we felt very welcomed. At the same time she respected our privacy. Dianne, thank you very much for helping us to make this vacation one of the best we ever had. We are looking forward for coming again. Barbara and Jacob

Owner response:This couple were delightful guests. They love this area so much that I shared my secret deer trail through the woods with them to get to the other sandy beach to the east of my property. It was my pleasure to accommodate them. I look forward to their return.

Relaxing, Quiet, Fun

Guest: Jeff, Judy & Rose (Arpin, Wisc.)
Date of Stay: 07/31/10 Review Submitted: 11/27/10

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. If your family fits in two beds, if you're looking for quiet and relaxation, and if you don't need a deli around the corner, this is a great place. The other reviews tell how nice and different the loft itself is, so I won't repeat that. But I will emphasize how nice the shore is. Fifty feet from the loft you're on the beach facing Lake Michigan. Dianne provides beach chairs, floats, and a fire ring. I was a little concerned when I saw the waves rolling in, but they were no problem for my daughter or even a sinker like me. The water was no deeper than two feet for 50 feet out. The waves were fun. We wandered east across sand and cobbles for a mile without seeing another person. There were dunes and wildflowers, bones and boulders, a thicket of cedars on one side and the lake on the other. Bring your wildflower identification guide. I wish the waves had quieted down for a few hours so we could have paddled out to see the shipwreck. I guess we'll just have to go back some time.

Fall Weekend

This was our second visit to the loft and just as perfect as the first. We arrived on 10/2 and stayed until 10/5. We took some day trips to see the beautiful color but truely enjoyed the tranquility the loft offers. This is the perfect place! The loft is beautiful and comfortable. Dianne made us feel like "old friends" on a return visit. Looking for a quiet get away? This is it!!

perfect for couples or a small family

The cabin was very clean and very beautiful. It is situated on the lakeshore along scenic route US-2.My husband and I stayed there for 3 nights. It has a private beach just feets away from the cabin. We forgot our umbrella and it was raining outside, Dianne was gracious and provided us with an umbrella without us asking. The photos on the website don't do justice. Its much more lively than in the pictures. Dianne suggested local restaurants and places to go to and each one was a memorable experience. I would definitely recommend this cabin to everyone. Hoping to come back again soon.

Owner response:This lovely couple came to Cedar Loft to celebrate their second wedding anniversary. It was a delight to have them as guests. I always enjoy sharing this beautiful haven on Lake Michigan for special dates because of the privacy and peacefulness of the location. The wife is working on her PHD and her husband has already received his Doctorate of Engineering. They met at the University. It was my pleasure to have them as guests.

Super clean loft space at a fair price. A wee bit warm in August, but, perfect beach weather! Nice sandy beach extends for forever. Dianne is smart, worldly and down to earth.

A peaceful and beautiful retreat on Lake Michigan!

Guest: Cheryl and Brad (Elkhart, IN)
Date of Stay: 06/19/10 Review Submitted: 06/30/10

The listing and the pictures are too modest - they really don't do the loft or the location justice. The loft was perfect for relaxing, enjoying the peace and quiet in a beautiful setting. The sound of the waves and the fresh cool lake air blowing through the windows with the beautiful sky visible through the skylights was magnificent. Dianne was a perfectly gracious hostess. She was so helpful, kind and respectful of our need for privacy at the same time. In no time at all, I felt more like a friend or a sister than a stranger. I've made many jokes that if I ever run away - I shouldn't be hard to find now! My husband and I enjoyed the walks on the beach, the fires on the beach at night and sidetrips to area spots of interest. We took books, movies and had a list of places to go and do, yet we never read, only watched one movie, never once missed the computer or any other modern "conveniences" aka distractions...it was perfect. Thank you Dianne for providing "city folk" a chance to unwind, unplug and remember how to play and enjoy life! Meeting you and staying with you was such a blessing to my husband and I. We're already looking for the next possible opportunity to return! I've already shared your loft information with others and hope others find the same peace and enjoyment! God Bless and see you soon! This was a wonderful cabin to stay at for our first anniversary. Naubinway was a great location and not far from main attractions in the UP. We appreciated Dianne's graciousness and enjoyed our conversations. She was a wonderful host. We loved the layout of the loft. It felt peaceful and private. We also liked having the access to Lake Michigan and enjoyed using the fire pit area! We have been recommeneding this cabin to our friends and family. Thanks again Dianne. You were wonderful and such a sweetheart!

The Cedar Loft was truly a cozy and beautiful place to relax & enjoy the beauty of the Great Lake Michigan! As soon as you turn the corner from the stairs, you know that you will have a hard time leaving this place when the time comes! Dianne is a wonderful & full-of-life person who makes you feel right at home. The loft is stocked with everything you will need & then some. The fresh flowers & freshly baked loaf of bread just put the icing on the cake for perfection! The loft is just beautiful, especially with all the skylights. We had a wonderful time here, and enjoyed the talk with Dianne at the fire pit (yes, a great fire pit right on the beach with colorful, comfortable chairs.) We will definitely be back to stay at the Cedar Loft! Thanks Dianne!!

We had a wonderful vacation at this loft. It is the perfect size for a small family or couple. While it is a loft, the space is smartly decorated to create three separate rooms: kitchen, living room and bedroom. The bathroom is separate. This loft has lots of room; my husband, son and I never felt crowded. The kitchen has everything you need, the furniture is comfortable including the bed. The walk to the beach couldn't be easier. NO stairs, No bluff, just a short walk with a slight incline going back. It's very private too. The beach is sandy with few rocks and several sand bars. My 5-year-old son had a blast on the beach and in the water. Chairs for the beach and around the firepit are provided. Even firewood is provided. The only things we needed to bring were beach towels and food. The owner was very accomodating. The kitchen had a fresh arrangement of garden flowers and a freshly baked loaf of bread waiting for us. The loft is in the perfect location allowing us to sight-see for part of the day and then return to play in the sun and sand the rest of the day. We look forward to our next vacation at this loft. It truely was a restful and fun vacation.
