The perfect house on a hill

Although my husband and I live on Maui, we still thought THIS was truly a bit of paradise. The house is perfectly stocked for your vacation getaway. From the miriad of kitchen utensils, to the perfectly setup barbeque grill, this is honestly an amazing getaway. Where it's a romatic week-end, or a family adventure, Kawika's Hill will have something for everyone. The jacuzzi and the wifi were a treat as well. There is nothing like a relaxing evening, with a BBQ and a jacuzzi, secluded on a hill that makes you think the rest of the world may have disappeared. Nonetheless, Kawika's Hill is within minutes of some of the best sightseeing Maui has to offer, from the colored sand beaches to the Seven Sacred Pools, it's all within reach. We'll be sure to come back and convince any and all of our visiting friends to join us!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I live on Maui and we still think the sign on the door at Kawika's Hill should read "Welcome to Paradise". There is nothing this place is missing and I am very excited to have discovered it! The views, the jacuzzi, the impecably stocked kitchen, the beautiful lanai (patio), and the secluded location (it really is a house on a hill) make this the perfect getaway. The house is clean, inviting, open, the floorplan provides the perfect views and if you plan to cook a meal or two here, there isn't one kitchen utensil that you will be missing. We had a wonderful stay and plan to come back time and time again. I hope we can convince our friends to join us because this is the perfect way to experience what Maui has to offer. Thank you again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Perfect retreat for family and friends! The photos don't justify the place; it is beautiful and spacious. The place is clean and provided many paper goods and kitchen items. Outdoor hot shower facing the Haleakala is a two-thumbs up. (Watch out for the mongoose droppings.) The spa was relaxing with the view of ocean. The place has a rain-water reservoir; great idea (maybe no city-water access, that's why.) Kids love the geckos. Don't forget a bug repellant! Mosquitoes really remind you that you're actually at the paradise on earth. Side note: the front lock at the gate is a bit stubborn; took three+ minutes to unlock.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

I highly recommend Kawika's Hill. I lived on Maui for 20 years and was fortunate to have friends in Hana and have spent much time here and frankly, this is the absolute best house I've seen there. It is authentic, private, quiet, has everything you could possibly need, coupled with the feeling of living outdoors as everywhere you turn you see and feel the beauty of nature. The outdoor shower is delightful and something we enjoyed daily. The kitchen was exquisite and it was delightful to just slow down, enjoy the beauty of nature and the authentic Hawaii that is Hana. It is very easy to get to Hamoa Beach, the pools, Wainapanapa, etc. One quick recommendation is Coconut Glen's just a couple of miles before the house. They make several different varities of coconut ice cream ....all from coconut and dairy free..it was superb! On this trip we spent a week in Kapalua prior to Hana and we have agreed that when we go back, we just want to spend the entire time at Kawika's Hill!! Aloha and Mahalo.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We enjoyed our four days stay in this great property. Clean, organized, tastefully decorated, very well equiped and best of all, in an amazing setting. The outside shower and hot tub are great additions. You feel as if you are staying in a Tree house! Kids loved the hikes to the 7 sacres pools and the waterfalls, Hamoa beach, the lava tube, black sand beach. .. Etc. I would advise doing your grocery shopping in Kahului before getting to Hana because the 2 local general stores are pricey with little variety. An amazing place!! Thank you Karen!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We just returned from our Hawaiian vacation in March 08 and we had three lovely days at Kawika's Hill in Hana. The home was beyond our expectations and the pictures just give you a small glimpse of how beautiful the home is. We enjoyed watching the sunrise over the ocean every morning from the comfort of the hot tub. There were airy spacious rooms with large windows and a wraparound deck. There were all the comforts of home. It was also very nice to stay in Hana and not feel rushed to try and get all the site seeing in. We plan on returning to Kawika's Hill and will stay longer next time.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We spent two weeks in Maui in December (06) and stayed in several different vacation rentals but this was the family favorite. EVERYTHING was perfect. Personally, I appreciated things like the quality linens and very comfortable beds. The hot tub was perfect after a day of fun in the sun and great in the rain. The house was beautiful and well-equipped and the views were spectacular. Next time we come we will spend our whole stay there. Thank you for sharing this great home with us, and at such a reasonable price. We hope to return:)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

What a pleasant surprise. We didn't know what to expect having never been to Maui, but this was the perfect place to begin our lives together. Its a stunning little cottage when you first see it. Beautiful woodwork and the coolest little floor-plan with a vast overlook of the Pacific. You always feel partly outside here, even the round design slightly resembles the center of two giant bayan trees, yet clearly a comfortable dwelling embellished with the finest amenities. Secluded from Hana Highway and any neighbors, the forest rises behind for miles to the lower crest of Haleakala crater. In front, the ocean is silent from its lofty mountain perch. On a clear night the stars are stunningly bold against a black sky, unsubdued by foreign light. The kitchen had all the best appliances to concoct a feast, and mood lighting for dinner. By day, Kawika made for the perfect home base to forge our little expeditions around the east side. Hana is delightful, with a small town charm untouched by modern development... Many pleasant beaches, waterfalls and trails nearby, even snorkeling was excellent with an array of tropical fish to feast the eyes. On days when a strenuous hike or body surfing tired us out, the cottage always had a way of welcoming us home. An easy place to settle back into its comforts. Warm up in the Jacuzzi and back to a nice perch on the lanai to reflect on the days adventures. Ah... the perfect honeymoon!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We had a wonderful time - the perfect getaway for Kim and me and a special time for my sister to get to know our new baby. I have raved to many people about our visit and I'm sure that you will have people calling. We hope to visit again soon.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
