Why the Owner Chose Snowshoe
The cabin, built by a wonderful local Mennonite master builder, fuses the rustic panoramic setting with wonderful wood work throughout, making it feel like a cabin with class. The first floor features a family room with rock fireplace that is open to the dining area and kitchen. That part of the house is open to the second story peak of the roof, all with a southern exposure wall of windows, giving you the feeling of openness and oneness with nature. Down the hall from the kitchen are two bedrooms and a bath. There is a second floor loft over the kitchen area which is open, providing a view of the first floor below and the southern facing windows. The master bedroom is located on the second floor behind the loft and has its own bathroom. The cabin is luxuriously furnished with fine furniture (i.e. Master Craft). Anywhere you are in the family/kitchen/dining room you have a view of the stone fireplace and a view, through the southern windows, of the valley below and mountains all around. Enjoy the stone fireplace on cold nights, even from the gourmet kitchen. The kitchen features custom cabinets, large cook-top and incredible views allowing even the chef to enjoy the ambiance. The openness of the kitchen dinning area and family room are great for entertaining. Stocked with quality pots/pans and place settings just as nice as the kitchen itself. Cooking for your family becomes part of the fun and the table extends to seat 10 [please no more than 10 in this home (we recommend 6 to 8 adults with the rest children, rounding up to 10)].
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
The southern facing windows are more than two stories tall and almost the full width of the cabin. The views through them are spectacular. To the east you can see the sun rising over Snowshoe in the morning, and beautiful sunsets over the mountains to our west. Moreover, remember that in the winter the sun is lower on the southern horizon so we get great winter sunrises and sunsets. At night we get fantastic views of the stars in what has been ranked as the East Coast’s best “dark area”. In the mornings, we enjoy having a cappuccino and a healthy breakfast before heading for the slopes. Oh, and as you sip your coffee sometimes, when the weather cooperates, and the valley below is fog or cloud covered, you feel like your on top of the world. Keep in mind that the cabin sits near the edge of the point where the steepness of the downhill grade increases, so looking out the window gives you the feeling of being almost airborne. As the mist clears below and the valley peers through, it is beautiful, almost like descending out of the clouds in an airplane, but you’re on the ground!

Owner's Map of Snowshoe
We are skiers and we love the beauty of nature. So we decided to look for a place that we could own. We found Breathless Views all around, which lives up to the name. We love to watch the sunrise in the morning. Even in bad weather, we enjoy our home in the clouds and rain, since it has such a panoramic setting. Our kids walk around our 3-acre lot and with neighbors on both sides we are not too remote. We're on our own mountain top but 20 minutes to the Snow Shoe ski slopes. 45 minutes south of Elkins and 30 minutes north of Marlinton. A new highway is being built along the 55 corridor which runs through Elkins. It will eventually link US 79 and US 81, and will be the only 4 lane highway running east and west over the Appalachian Mountains between US 64 in the south and US 79 in the north.
We have skied many east coast slopes and find Snowshoe to be the best south of upstate New York, New Hampshire and Vermont. In addition to having snow blowing equipment and being located in the headwaters area of the Appalacian Mountains, Snow Shoe gets a lot of annual snowfall.

LeAnne, thanks for making our Memorial Day weekend a stressfree one by letting us rent your wonderful vacation home! Everything worked as described, the place was beautiful and dealings with you (including the timely refund of the deposit) were quick, honest and always helpful! All my friends & family who came along absolutely loved the place & we had a great time there. Snowshoe is easily accessible, as are a number of scenic hikes/drives in the vicinity. In fact we praised it so much to our friends, that they soon booked a weekend there too, and also had a wonderful time! If we visit the area again, we're sure we'll rent Breathless Views again!
Owner response:Ashu, you were a pleaure too! please come back and your family!!

Hi LeAnne! We ALL really really enjoyed our summer stay at your Snowshoe home and were so very comfortable and relaxed. My mom wasn't sure about staying so high up on a ridge but when she entered your home, she ABSOLUTELY LOVED your tastefully decorated rooms and was very pleasantly surprised that it was just her style. She wants to come back for vacation every year and so do we! The spacious open main floor plan of kitchen, living, and dining rooms is a perfect backdrop to the gorgeous and jaw dropping views seen out the enormous front windows. I can imagine the winter view to be just as spectacular as the summer view and may make the winter trip one year. We loved the porch off the kitchen/dining room....a great place to have a cup of coffee in the morning, just taking in the valley view. I woke one morning at 6am to a view of the valley covered in misty fog....THAT was quite a scene! Breathless is definitely a well fit description and time passed peacefully as we sat on the porch each day (and evening!) enjoying our visit. As I looked out the kitchen window I saw deer in the neighbor's yard, a sweet picture of wildness to add to the morning.

Our stay here exceeded out expectations. The view overlooking the valley below was absolutely incredible. The cabin was well appointed and had a very cozy feel. We woke each morning to a family of deer feeding near by which was an added bonus. I will most certainly consider staying here again on our next trip to the area. I must add that it was a pleasure working with the owner while making our reservations.

per her email to me...Dear LeAnne, Thank you so much for making the stay at your house in the Snowshoe area possible. The house and surroundings remind me of the quote "Almost Heaven, West Virginia." You have the perfect name for the place---Breathless Views. My whole family was awe struck when we spotted it from the base of the mountain and the excitement increased at a rapid rate as we steadily climbed up the dirt road. Words cannot even come close to expressing what goes on in the soul as every waking hour draws one to view God's creation at its finest. Without a doubt, God has given my family precious moments not just with each other, but to experience such views and know He is the Lord and Master of all. The three crosses meant sooooo much. And the neighbors, Julie and Cliff Weaver were like a special gift to us. They are a fine couple and you are blessed to have them as neighbors. I wanted to tell you too that one of my nieces didn't get to come because of a new job, however, my Uncle and his son came for one night. My Dad has emphysema and had forgotten his medication so they brought it to us. That's a total of 9 people, but only for one night. The rest of the time it was just 7 of us: Mom, Dad, Sis, her daughter and two children and myself. Everything was in order and clean upon arrival and we did our very best at leaving the house in the same condition. I broke one clear juice glass. My niece noticed a little damage in one of the screens downstairs in the basement, but I didn't see it myself. The water well did great—we did not run out of water at all. We followed the instructions at the house and hope we received a good report. On a final note, I have to say that after sharing my photos with the women at work and seeing their surprise and shock at the beauty (pictures can't really do it justice), I've been asked more than once for your Web Site. Perhaps others will follow our foot-steps right to your doorway. Thanks again. Cindy Salyers

We have stayed at many cabins in many mountain locations and your cabin offered the absolute best views and accommodations of them all. Our family really enjoyed all that the Snowshoe area has to offer outdoors in the summertime. Our kids really enjoyed your books and games collection. We would like to return some year in the autumn and stay again at Breathless Views!

My family and I stayes at 47697 Snowshoe, the house and the view were beautiful. We stayed Christmas of 2005. We would ski at snowshoe which the conditions were great. When you read about this house and it suggests 4-wheel drive or chains, this is a first hand look - you really do need 4-wheel drive or chains. The house was great, so many deer around. We would rent this house again if we decide to come to snowshoe.

Wow - what an awesome place to stay. The views are as advertised - BREATHLESS!! Very serene and peaceful surroundings and if you like star gazing you are in for a treat - I don't remember ever seeing so many. The house itself was very cozy, comfortable and clean - it has quite alot of character with beautiful wood throughout - you will not be disappointed. We definitely will consider vacationing there again in the future.

This comment was in our Rehoboth Rental property by accident. I have cut and pasted to the correct second home. These are my guests comments: We had the most marvelous time at your wonderful house. Thank you so much. It exceeded our expectations, and the luxury was particularly appreciated after a few nights spent camping! We found it a great location and went on the Cass Railroad and to see the Radio Telescope, as well as the Cranberry Glades and the nearby waterfalls. We loved the view and watching the deer walk by the end of the deck. Our trip up the mountain was no problem. It was steep, so it was good to have been warned about it (i.e. it met our expectations!). We arrived at 8 pm and found your directions very good.
