Awesome Vacation Home!!

Date of Stay: 01/28/12 Review Submitted: 02/28/12

Three weeks were just not enough! Just a few of the things we found very attractive about this beautiful place: 1:) Everthing was neat and clean 2:) Quiet neighborhood 3:) Three private bedrooms and three tv's. 4:) Three sitting areas inside. 5:) Large Dining area 6:) Beautiful newly remodeled kitchen. 7:) Private heated pool with large deck and grill. The only negative is that we live too far away! Thank you Ron and Marilyn!!

We just spent three wonderful weeks at the Banana Cabana and couldn't have been more pleased with this vacation house; it is by far the nicest home we have every rented for vacation. The Redington Beach area is so lovely and still has the "old Florida" feel to it. There is plenty of room for a large family gathering or cozy enough for just two. The pool and deck area were wonderful since we had plenty of warm days to enjoy it! The newly remodeled kitchen was just beautiful and had every modern convenience and very well stocked with everything you could possibly need if you want to cook dinner in. When we arrived; the house was spotless and well stocked with towels. The rental agency down the street were very helpful as well if we needed anything. We would highly recommend this vacation home to our friends and family and will definitely be back again!!

We hated to leave it felt sooo much like home. Everything we needed was available in the house. The grandchildren had a most wonderful Christmas. The weather couldn't have been nicer so we got to take advantage of the awesome pool. We walked across the street to sunset almost every night(could get used to that). The neighbors were very friendly and helpful. The kids loved playing with "elaine & kraemer". The house is actually MUCH better in person than what shows on the website. We had 3 families (with 3 kids under 7)and we were very comfortable. The trolley ride to Clearwater and back was great. (we didn't have to hunt for parking)LOTS OF ROOM**** LOTS TO DO

Our stay at Banana Cabana

Guest: Cheryl (Newcastle Ontario )
Date of Stay: 11/26/11 Review Submitted: 12/11/11

Hi there we arrived at your home NOV 26/11 , on arrival we picked up the keys for the home. We got into the cabana home and was extremely disappointed . First we had a baby and wanted to bath him to find out that the tub was dirty also black hair was in the tub. The sink and toilet had dirt ring around both. There were no towels supplied or face cloths. The kitchen dishes had not been washed there were lipstick rings on the coffee mugs. The counter stove and oven face was dirty with finger smudges all over. Kitchen floors and living room floors had not been cleaned . Under the couch in the living room I could write my name on the floors with the amount of dust. In the add it said that there was a pull out couch in the living room and there was not .. The furniture in the living room is not even the same as the pictures that are shown. The master bedroom sheets had not been changed as there was sand in the bed down at the feet area. The second bedroom sheets were also not changed and also had fresh blood on the sheets. Up stairs when. We went up the fan hanging had an inch of DIRT on the blades and the fake plants in the place were all covered with dirt and dust . The pull out couch mu husband and I got into bed that night we both sank into the middle of the bed we had to fold it back up and take the matresses off the single beds and put them together on the floor. On the floor under the table was an old bone chewed up !!! Not good for my grand son that found it. The front door was covered with finger prints . We have been traveling to Florida for years and have never experienced anything like this in our lives. I am not sure if you are aware of what is going on with the cleaning in your home but I tell you in is like the home had never been cleaned . We even s poke to your rent neighbor bob and his wife and they told me to. Get in contact with you. I am not sure if you could do something for us due to the great disappointment of our holiday but we would surly appreciate it. Sincerely Cheryl

Owner response: Thank you for letting us know about your issues. We have never had such a complaint, so this comes as a surprise. It is my understanding that our property manager sent the housekeeper down immediately upon your call. We hope he was able to resolve your issues at that time. It is also my understanding that he showed you where 8 towels were housed but had also brought 8 more. We apologize that the website you used still showed a sleeper sofa in the living room. It appears we changed it on our other website but failed to change it on the website you used. We were glad we had no one arriving that weekend after your flight plans changed. Therefore, we were able to accommodate your request to stay there the extra time at no charge, and we were delighted to do so.

A great place to stay for a family vacation!

Date of Stay: 10/01/11 Review Submitted: 01/02/12

My mother and I and my grandparents stayed for a week at the Banana Cabana last October. We found its location convenient to many restaurants and shops. You can't get much closer to the beach either. It's just across the street (a four minute walk if you're pokey) and during our stay we had the beach practically to ourselves. We had plenty of room to spread out in the house too. We used just two of the bedrooms for the four of us, but there seems to be room for at least four more in the upstairs loft/bedroom area. I enjoyed swimming in the heated pool and there's a bar-b-que grill on the deck to use in case you want to stay in some night and cook. The house even has a personalized map of the area that displays some of the owners' favorite places to eat and shop. We had a really good time at the Banana Cabana and hope to go back there some day.

Awesome Vacation Home

Guest: Family of 6 (Frankfort, IL, US.)
Date of Stay: 07/24/10 Review Submitted: 08/03/10

I do not know where to start...It was wonderful. All that we hoped for and more. The home was in a perfect location to do sightseeing or just lounge on the beach. The pool in the back yard with the deck put the icing on the cake. The children used it daily and helped us cool down after days of sightseeing or adventure taking. The rental company was very helpful with our questions. We cannot wait to return.

Everything you need for a great vacation

Date of Stay: 07/18/10 Review Submitted: 07/26/10

The house is big and bright, and could comfortably sleep seven or more. The layout is great with TVs and DVD players upstairs and downstairs, so the grown folks can watch TV downstairs while the kids can watch TV upstairs (the house also comes stocked with at least 50 movies and plenty more upstairs for the kids). Also upstairs is a huge selection of great beach reads, so if you need something to take to the beach, you're covered. Located in the garage is a washer and dryer and huge assortment of beach chairs, umbrellas, pool toys, and other fun things to take out to the beach, plus a cart you can use to make the short walk easier. Out back is a huge deck with plenty of seating and a heated swimming pool, which is a great way to cool off during the day or take a dip at night. Also located on the deck is a fairly large four-burner gas grill, capable of making a meal for a large family. The kitchen is also well stocked with tons of pots, pans, utensils, plus the glassware is great (margarita glasses, wine glasses, pilsner glasses, etc). The walk to the beach is very short, about two and a half minutes from the front door to the sand, so it's never an issue to go back and forth if you need to. In terms of location, there's restaurants, groceries, and convenience stores all over the place, so you're likely just to be a couple of miles away from whatever you need. The rest of the houses in the neighborhood are nicely kept and all appear to be residential (and both neighbors we talked to were very nice) and it seems to be a nice quiet area. The property is in great condition and I love the hardwoods and the bright colors in the house. It's a really inviting environment especially during the day when there's lots of light coming in from all the windows. I would recommend this as a vacation spot for any sized group, as you're not likely to find a house with so many amenities and such a great location.

Two week stay at beginning of March 2010. Excellent villa for our purposes. Easily one of the better looking villas on Redington Beach and certainly well kitted out inside. We were as follows: Master bedroom: 2 adults and crib for 6 month baby. Was perfect for our needs particularly own bathroom. Second bedroom: 2 children in double and one child in single (sometimes all three in double) Upstairs Bedroom: In laws (they used 2nd bathroom). Upstairs area was perfect for them to appreciate the sunsets and avoid the little ones. There was also a sofa bed which could have slept two more. Kitchen was in good order. Cooker took some getting used to for us Europeans. Used Grill a few times when weather permitted. Pool was very clean and heated to 73 during our stay. Children used it to the full. Beach very picturesque and child friendly (but where were the other families?). Neighbours were always helpful for recommendations. Ron made every effort to make our stay perfect. Nothing was too much trouble. Crib was excellent. Also supplied two booster seats which saved us a fortune in car hire charges. Washer and dryer were an excellent bonus particularly with four young children. Oh, villa was immaculately cleaned on our arrival. The cleaners turned up on the strike of 10 for our departure. Thank you Ron for wonderful stay.

My husband and I recently enjoyed another lovely vacation at the Banana Cabana. Among its many amenties are a pool just a few steps outside the back door and a comfortable deck with plenty of tables, chairs and a grill for cookouts. By the way, the beach is just a short hop away-just a quick block and a half walk gets you there. We also enjoyed preparing meals in the well appointed kitchen and either eating out on the deck or in the dining room that overlooks the pool. I also liked having access to the washer and dryer that are located just off the kitchen. There are also plenty of beach toys and even a beach wagon available for our kids to use. We have enjoyed our two visits to the Banana Cabana and look forward to a third one some time soon.

September Vacation

Date of Stay: 09/19/09 Review Submitted: 10/10/09

I wanted to let you know that I was part of a party who was booked to stay at this property the week of 9/19/09-9/26/09. I was very disappointed in the home and the treatment we recieved. The home was mis represented and we had great difficulty with the rental company handeling the property. The house was not properly cleaned even though the rental company stated to myself on the phone the week prior to our arrival that we could"go right in" when we arrived as there were no renter there for the week previous to our visit.. We expected the house to be ready to go so we planned our arrival based on this information even though check in was 3 pm. . A new grill last week,(when the house was unrented)was found to be very dirty. The pool was not yet cleaned(again no renters previous week)and the house needed to be really cleaned as there were definite areas of uncleanliness. We were given our money back that we had persented that day but all funds were tied up until Monday because we arrived on a Saturday. We were denied our deposit back as the owner felt we did give him time to rectify the problems. They did show us another property " at a discount" but this property was unacceptable to us and frankly we were tired and done with the unacceptable behavior.

Owner response:We have rented our home for five years and have never had such a complaint. Our home is represented exactly as it is with the only difference being new bed covers. If the house is vacant and guests request to go in early, we always try to accommodate with the understanding that the house and pool will be cleaned before 3:00 pm. We leave a guest book in our home and ask our guest to let us know about their stay and offer any suggestions for improvement. Over the past five years, we have had very positive response from our guests and we look forward to many more.

This house is absolutely AWESOME!! It is VERY clean, well kept, and super cozy. The swimming pool was amazing and so clean...loved the privacy. The beach was literally a 3 minute walk directly across the street. The sunsets are breath-taking... This house is in a fabulous location with convenient access to the grocery store, shopping and dining. You can practically walk to all. We HIGHLY recommend Havana Cabana to anyone...we will DEFINITELY be back. This was honestly the best family vacation we've ever had.

We had a fabulous time at the Banana Cabana. We were there with our two sons and girlfriends. The home was big and afforded us privacy from each other as well as plenty of room for us all to hang out together. You can walk to the beach in about 3 minutes and it is a lovely beach, quiet and clean. The house has a beach wagon with umbrellas, noodles, boogey boards and chairs we loaded up every morning after our beach walk and spent most of the day enjoying the beach. In the afternoon we returned to the heated pool, huge deck and outdoor grill. The trolley runs up and down the coast all day so if you don't have a car you can still get out. The grocery store is a walk but doable. It is a residential area so if night life is important to you you should rent a car. The neighborhood is lovely as are the neighbors and I felt very safe. I would return to this rental in the future and I highly recommend it for families.

Banana Cabana---A small piece of heaven on earth

We celebrated our Thanksgiving holiday and a Grandson;s 11th birthday this past week. What a grand home. It felt so warm and inviting. Lots of dishes and pots and pans, so cooking was a breeze for the big feast. Lots of beach goodies, so nothing extra to buy for enjoyment. The deck and the pool were the biggest draw for us. It gave us so much pleasure as a family unit. It was chilly, but sure didn't dampen our spirits. This was our first family gathering since the passing of the great grandparents both last summer so unexpectedly. It was a stressful time, but the home, somehow made it feel just right. Thank you for letting us be together in your home. We will be back many more times for sure.

We stayed at the Banana Cabana during the third week of April, 2008. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer! The beach was one of the nicest we found during our vacation. The house had plenty of room and everything we needed was there. The private pool was a wonderful bonus. The location was absolutely perfect, centered nicely to a number of places. We even walked to the pier and rented fishing poles! We would return in a heartbeat!

We took our daughters and several of her friends here for their senior trip last year and they had a blast! There were more than enough places to sleep, everything was so clean and you couldn't want anymore comforts of home. The beach was just a 5 minute walk and at night the girls used the pool and patio out back---What a wonderful home! We will come back!!!!!

1st the house had flee's and we had to have someone come and spray. They didn't know that there had been dogs there prior to us staying. There is limited parking and the neighbor to the left facing the house does not tolerate people parking on here lawn. The house was for rent and no one was renting it. The neighbor on the right down one house starts his truck 6 mornings out of 7 at 6AM and lets it run for 5 or 10 min's and this thing is very loud. Woke everyone up in the house each morning. Would not rent here again.

Owner response:It is unfortunate that your stay did not meet your expectations. Our home is a pet friendly home and we rely on our guests to be honest with us about bringing pets, but unfortunately, not everyone is honest when there is a fee involved. Once our management company was notified of the problem, they promptly responded by sending someone over to address the problem immediately. As to the parking, our home has a garage as well as parking for two to three cars out front. This is enough parking for one or two families. We are not responsible for the neighbor on the right who does not like people parking on her lawn, but in all fairness, I wouldn't want people parking in my front lawn and I would imagine most people feel that way. It is irrelevant whether her home is rented or not, it is still her home. We are also not responsible for the neighbor who starts his truck at 6am. Our home is located in a residential neighborhood and most who live there have jobs and this neighbor was, more than likely, just heading off to work. Once again, we are sorry your stay did not meet your expectations.

What a great place! Room enough for 10 if needed or cozy enough for just two. I know because my children and grandchildren stayed with us on one visit and on our next just my husband and I were there. Yes, we are repeat visitors and with good reason. You have a private deck and sparkling pool of your own at the rear of the home and the beach is just a three minute walk away. We have found that the beach near the Banana Cabana is almost as private as the pool. What a great deal! The home is also close to shopping, several grocery stores and tons of good places to eat. We highly recommend the Banana Cabana as a vacation getaway. It has everything either a family or just a couple might want in a beach vacation.

My husband, 2 children and I stayed at this wonderful beach house. We really enjoyed the spacious, character-filled house. The pool out back and huge deck were big hits with our children. The kitchen was really nice-we cooked a few meals at home and enjoyed them on the deck. The house is very bright and airy and only a short walk away from the beach. The decorations are very fun and Florida inspired. I'm looking forward to the next time we're able to vacation at the Banana Cabana. We would recommend this house to both small and large parties-what a fun place!

Best week of my life!

Guest: Dan from KY (Durham, NC)
Date of Stay: 06/24/07 Review Submitted: 04/18/08

My wife and I had a fantastic time at this house. It's a very quiet area and just a quick stroll to the beautiful beach across the street (which never had more than a handful of people everyday). This house is huge with its master and second bedroom and two bathrooms on the first floor, and pull out couch and third bedroom upstairs. It also has a spacious kitchen stocked with all the stuff you'll need to cook and serve dinner, and the dinning area is nice and has a window to the pool in case you need to keep an eye on things. There's a TV downstairs and upstairs, so if you're with a large group you'll never fight over TV at night. It also has a nice stereo in the living area, which I was able to hook up my iPod to (I brought my own cable to make this happen) and my wife and I listened to some tunes while we ate our dinners together. The house also has CDs, tons of board games and toys upstairs, cable TV, and a garage full of beach toys and accessories (umbrellas, mats, a nice cart to haul everything over, ect.) to keep you busy. I made heavy use of the sand castle molds. Outside is a well maintained deck with a nice large table, both of which we used everyday to eat our breakfast together, while the lizards scampered about around us. I found this to be charming. Also outside is a large gas grill a nice sized pool, which is kept VERY clean and has a spa setting, which is relaxing after a hard day at the beach. The house is also located near a grocery store for the obligatory vacation runs for OJ, peanut butter, bread, and beer, but it is also a nice drive to tons of great restaurants (Salt Rock Grill, Columbia) and you get to see some other beautiful homes along the way. It was also close enough for us to do things like catch a movie one night, another day we went to Honeymoon island to check out the wild life, and there's even an aquarium close by. This area has a great mix of beautiful beaches, great restaurants, and convenience. This house has it all, it's huge, clean, great location, stocked with everything you need to have fun. Writing this review makes we want to go back and stay. Don't pass this place up!

What a charming vacation home! I love the entryway & spiral staircase. I would move in upstairs if you'd sell it. It is so bright & cheerful. The pool was very relaxing with the jets, & I really appreciated that it was heated. Being only a short walk from the beach was perfect. We really enjoyed our morning walks. In fact, we picked out a house to buy (unless you'd like to sell yours). Thanks for the referral on "Crabby Bill's". The crab cakes were soooo good! Thanks for sharing your wonderful vacation retreat with us "hicks" from Kentucky. It was a real find! PS: Now, if I could just wrestle that camera away from Tammey...

You have such a unqiue place!(The nicest on the street;) The house is decorated very nicely, it gives off a cozy feel. The pool was always warm, as was the weather. All the amenities it came with were a plus! This house makes it easy to have a nice and relaxing vacation! Thanks for a great time, I'd love to stay again!

I LOVED it there! I didn't wanna come home when the time came! It's such a cozy house! It has a great pool in the backyeard and only a 2 minute walk from the ocean! I plan staying there again!

(This comment was entered into our guest book located in our vacation home)Had a wonderful week at the Banana Cabana. Enjoyed both the beach and the pool at this house. Found this accomodation at very short notice - but what a find and would love to come back here from England again.
