Imagine 110 feet of private waterfront, a lovely, spacious 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage, your own beach area, kayaks, hammocks, firepit, large deck with majestic views, gas grill, ping pong, basketball, fireplace, jetted (Jacuzzi) bathtub, central air conditioning and large, professionally manicured lawn.

"The Waterfront Cottage" will comfortably accomodate nine people, but it is also a wonderful, romantic venue for just the two of you. It is located on picturesque Pottawattomie Bayou lake in Grand Haven, Michigan. One of the things that we love about this lake is it's warmer and calmer than Lake Michigan. You can splash and play in Pottawattomie Bayou lake or explore it with the kayaks or sit on the dock and fish for blue gills, bass and perch. Or just lounge in the hammocks down by the water as you catch some warm rays of sunshine.

There are 3 very nice bedrooms in this cottage. The spacious Master Bedroom has a king bed and walk-in closet. Bedroom #2 has a queen bed. Both of these bedrooms have picture windows that overlook the awesome bayou. Bedroom #3 has two twin beds.

There are also two single pull-out sleepers and one double pull-out sleeper.

There are 2 full bathrooms, one of which has double sinks and a large jetted (Jacuzzi) bathtub. We supply the bedding and bath towels, but we ask that you bring your own beach towels.

The spacious, bright living room measures 23 feet by 17 feet! It has a cathedral ceiling with ceiling fan, a 32 inch TV with basic cable and a VCR/DVD player. It also has large picture windows that highlight terrific views of the water. You might see a gaggle of geese, a few graceful swans, a blue heron, a red tailed hawk or a king fisher. Several of our guests have seen deer in the yard.

The dining area is large and cheerful and is furnished with comfortable seating for 6 at the table and 4 more at the snack bar. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full-size refrigerator, new stove, microwave, griddle, waffle maker, fondue pot, coffee maker, toaster and all of the pots and pans and dishes anyone would need, complete with a dishwasher.

The view is amazing from both inside and outside this cottage. You can see the sunlight glisten off the water as you lounge at the beach area, relax on the deck or even view it from inside the living room. In the evenings you can curl up in front of the gas log fireplace in the living room, or sit outside around the firepit and be mesmerized by the flickering flames as you roast hotdogs and marshmallows and make hobo pies and S'mores. We provide the firewood and 'Tonka Toasters'.

The yard is a great place to play outdoor games. It is almost an acre, nicely landscaped and professionally manicured. There are horseshoe and washer-pitching pits built into the yard for friendly competitions. You might want to fish, shoot some basketballs, play ping pong, kayak or just relax in the hammocks. If you have a small boat you can bring it along. There is direct water access from the cottage to Lake Michigan via the Grand River.

"The Waterfront Cottage" has the comfort of central air conditioning and the convenience of a full-size washer and dryer. All 1600 square feet of the cottage are on one level.(There are 4 steps outside to get to the cottage from the driveway, and there is a flight of steps from the deck to the backyard.) We have stocked the cottage with a plethora of board games, puzzles, books and movies for your enjoyment. The cottage is smoke-free, but smoking is permitted outdoors. The cottage is available April through December and the dock is available June 1 through Labor Day. Other seasonal items, including kayaks, hammocks and ping-pong, are available May through September. Please bring your cell phone as there is not a land line. And although we love animals, we can not allow pets at the cottage.

Grand Haven is a wonderful place in which to vacation. The area has lovely beaches, great golf courses and miles of bike paths. There are also several unique parks to explore and enjoy. Beautiful Pottawattomie Park is just 1 1/2 miles from the cottage. It has a great playground for the kids, a swimming area and a fishing/observation deck that extends out over the water. Lake Michigan and its sugar sand beaches is a quick and easy 5 miles from the cottage, as is quaint downtown Grand Haven. You can stroll on the boardwalk there, watch a sunset from the pier and enjoy the dancing waters of Grand Haven's Musical Fountain. Grand Haven has some exceptional restaurants too. You can find little eating houses featuring homecooked breakfasts, the Pronto Pup kiosk (a Grand Haven tradition), Fricano's Pizzaria (another Grand Haven tradition), a variety of ice creams parlors, and both trendy and elegant fine dining establishments.

Several of our guests have described this cottage as a waterfront paradise. It is an ideal place to come home to after a busy day downtown. Or just relax here all week. This cottage is tastefully decorated, clean, comfortable, and fully furnished and equipped. Come and enjoy "The Waterfront Cottage".

Please check with us on availability. Our VRBO calendar does not reflect any weeks that are 'on hold' (the time between when a specific week is requested and when the guest's deposit check actually reaches us). Please note that an inquiry is not considered a request to hold or reserve the cottage. Thank you for your understanding.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Another Wonderful Vacation

Guest: The P Family (-)
Date of Stay: 08/06/11 Review Submitted: 12/20/11

What another wonderful vacation we had up there this year. The boys had another year of "firsts". Nolan (6 years old)and Grant (4 years old) had a blast jet skiing. We can't believe what little fish they became in the water this year. I don't think they ever wanted to get out. Even Andrew (18 months) became quite a good little swimmer this year. We enjoyed blueberry picking, the carnival, and of course the Coast Guard ships and tours. Most of all we treasured the time we got to spend with Grandma & Boppa.

We had a wonderful week at the Waterfront Cottage. We enjoyed lazing in the hammocks under the shade tree. The kayaks were fun, golf was great and we ate at several good restaurants. (This was our 31st year vacationing together.)

We had a wonderful family vacation. What an amazing back yard. We really enjoyed the kayaks and sitting on the back porch. One of our favorite memories was watching Zack & Graham play in the sand for the first time and splashing in the water. Everyone should go to Fat Chix Coffee at least once! Also Mahi Mahi Tacos at the Kirby House are awesome.
