Thanks for letting us share your beautiful beach home. We were surprised how spacious it was-loved the 2 living rooms. The kids played in the pool and or the beach, adults too. We had so much fun with the bikes. All of the restaurants on the island were great. I loved "That Place on 98" in Eastpoint. the seafood chowder and the key lime pie were the best we had. We had a wonderful time at Aloan By The Sea. The beach home was beautifully decorated. I was impressed with how well it was equipped, too. The grandchildren loved the bunk room. The weather wasn't the best because of a tropical disturbance, but we so enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the wind and rain. We've been going to the Panhandle for more than 20 yrs. and Aloan By The Sea is one of the better places we've stayed.

Alone by the Sea was way beyond expectations. It was paradise! The home was beautifully decorated, and lent itself to being warm and inviting. Kitchen was well equipped with everything a cook could want. The screened in dining area was great for meals or for a card game. My favorite was the wrap around porch with the rocking chairs and ceiling fans. It doesn't get much better than sitting on the porch seeing the Gulf, feeling the ocean breezes, and reading a book. The pool was wonderful. For the grandgirls who are 2 and 4, the steps to the pool were perfect for sitting and playing. The property is very well maintained. Definitely would recommend this to other families, in fact, it would be hard for us to go anywhere else! This owner has a darling 2 bedroom, 2 bath cottage also on St. George Island, we are considering renting. Restaurants in Apalachicola such as Veranda's and Seafood Grill were great. The Blue Parrot on St. George served imitation butter for the crablegs. Ruined it! The waitress had a nasty attitude when brought to her attention. BJ's Pizza was very good, as was Harry A's. Overall experience was awesome! Thank you, Lynn and David, we hope to see you in the next year.

Three families of 4 = 12 people enjoyed a great week at Aloan By The SeaWe had 3 great days of sun, lots of rain, and wind and finally some sun again. Beautiful Home with everything we needed. Heated pool was just what the 6 kids and adults needed. The beach was beautiful and empty. We went into Apalach for oysters at Boss Oyster and ice cream at Ebbys. Thanks for letting us unwind, relax, and have a great time with family and friends.

Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us. We thoroughly enjoyed the sea breezes on the porch, took many refreshing dips in the pool and spent lots of peaceful time shelling the beach. What a wonderful property! We absolutely enjoyed our week on St. George Island and at Aloan By The Sea. From our arrival, with the no hassle keyless entry, this rental was easy. The short walk to the beach, which is very important to us with a 2 1/2 and a 5 year old, made it easy enough to get back and forth if we forgot something, for potty breaks, or to grab lunch...the street was not busy so it was easy to cross. The pool was perfect! Beautifully landscaped, it was a relaxing alternate to the beach. (It was also great having the outdoor shower, made our lives much easier with the kids) The pool was also very clean, as was the entire property. We were impressed with the state of the entire property when we arrived. Everything was in order, and ready for us to start our vacation right away. The master bedroom was the beautiful haven you hope to find on vacation. The kids had a blast in the bunk room(although, I hate to admit, I wished there were blackout curtains in there so my early risers might have let us sleep in just a bit on vacation.)-and my sister enjoyed having the pick of the remaining beautiful rooms. The kitchen was well equipped...we cooked every meal but one lunch at the house, and were never wanting for any equipment we needed. We also loved that there was a screened in porch that we enjoyed some of your meals on. For a few days when the winds were from a certain direction, and there were some biting flies in the evening... but we were still able to enjoy eating outside. My husband spent a lot of time on the porch facing the ocean with his coffee/glass of wine and a book, he said this is the most relaxing vacation he's had in a long time. We enjoyed a couple of trips into Appalachicola, what a neat town to stroll around and enjoy a nice lunch. Since it was less than 20 minutes away, it was quite convenient as well. I really appreciate that this property is pet friendly. We had such a great, relaxing week on St. George Island and in your welcoming home. It's wonderful in every way, from the welcoming, soothing decor to the beautifully landscaped pool area. ( Perfect for our 2 1/2 and 5 yr olds) and the very convenient outdoor shower! Unfortunately, our dog Ally passed away in June and didn't make it on this trip, but I know she would have loved it. Mr and Mrs Johnson, This vacation has been anticipated for over a year. Four generations were here for the week and what great fun we had! The little cousins played at the beach and pool-the oldest even taught the 3 yr old to jump in and go under water. Great Grand Dad-Papa B- and Grand Dad-Papa H- taught everyone to fish. And the fishing was great! Our kids got some alone adult time to catch up with each other and us oldies got to see them as parents first hand. 24/7! Thank you for all the attention to detail. So many nice features and lovely things in your home. There was nothing missing. This was my husband's wish come true-all the ones he loves together and we both thank you. My husband and I really enjoyed your beautiful beach house. We've only been here for 3 days and it has been a wonderful, relaxing, getaway. This is our third visit to the island and I like your place best. My husband and I have three married children, two single, a granddaughter(she's 6), and my mom. This house accomodated all of us comfortably. My favorite spot is the master bedroom. We can see the ocean and the street and the people on the porch from one spot. Or, as everyone soon discovered, you could close all the blinds and shut the door and you had a very quiet haven. We stayed up late every night swimming, playing with the Wii, eating, watching T.V. and just having fun with each other. Sadly our week is over, but we have our memories and pictures. Our family of six stayed in the Alone by the Sea house in March 2008 for a week. The house was beautiful and spacious. The kitchen was open with easy access to all appliances and dishes. The living area was fantastic and open, and the screened in porch was perfect for meals or family board game events. Bedrooms were large with good quality mattresses. Our children spent many hours by the pool, and we used the outdoor sinks to wash all of the shells after our beachcombing adventures across the street. The front porch with the rocking chairs allowed for a quiet read, or supervision of the pool. The beach was sandy, and late afternoon pictures captured the light and vacation memories perfectly. Bike rentals were easy, and the access paths made it safe for a trip down the road for ice cream. We highly recommend kayaking with Journeys of St. George's Island, as well as their fishing/dolphin tour. The staff were wonderful with the children, and made the experience educational as well as incredibly fun. Our dolphin spotting pictures have been used in many school animal reports over the year!!! The grocery stores were conveniently located, and there were several restaurants in the area that served high quality food for reasonable prices. We drove into Apalachicola and visited the quaint little stores and took a longer drive to the outlets in Sandestin. We definitely plan to return to the house in the near future. There are not many places left in this part of the world that offer such a quiet retreat, while maintaining the securities of a nearby hospital and pharmacy. Our children had a fantastic time, and frequently talk about our stay in St. George's Island. They remember the house fondly, and my husband and I remember the conversations we had with our children explaining why 'we couldn't live in this house.....that we had our own house in Canada!!!' It is apparent from the time you enter the house, that the owners have spent many hours choosing furniture and amenities to enhance your vacation experience. Their thoughtfulness was and always will be greatly appreciated. As mentioned previously, an outstanding home in the perfect location. It doesn't get better than this......

I've stayed at Aloan a few times and each time was something special. The house alone is amazing and a fantastic setup when having a large group stay at the house. Just a short walk to the beach and when the weather was too cool for the beach we were happy hanging out by the pool and on the huge porch. The owners, the Johnson's, were always very helpful and kind and obviously take pride in their home as it shows inside and out. I highly recommend this rental to anyone. I look forward to my next stay at Aloan By the Sea!

Dear David and Lynn, We leave in the a.m. after 2 months in your home. We have had a great respite from our Colorado winter. In spite of unseasonably cold weather we enjoyed everyday here walking the beach, kayaking, eating lots of seafood, napping-all the good things. We brought our instruments and played music everyday upstairs in the center room-fiddle, accordian, and bagpipes. Dear Johnson's, Wow! We have had a spectacular week! Our friends and family members love your home. The accomadations seem to meet everyone of our needs from the youngest to the oldest! The screened in porch came in handy for our evening gatherings, because of your monster mosquitos! We've spent 9 of our vacations here on the island! Good suggestion to new comers-TAKE OFF YOU WATCH! David and Lynn, Thank You for renting Aloan By The Sea to us. We loved the house, especially the kitchen! Your home is so beautiful and makes us feel like it is our home. We went to the beach everyday and we saw dolphins!!! We read many of your books and enjoyed sitting on your porch. No matter how hot it was, there was always a breeze on the porch. We enjoyed having so much space and being able to still get together and eat dinner. My brothers and I loved the bunk room, especially the lights! The beach is gorgeous and there were lots of waves and shells. We will miss all the great times we had here, but we are taking lots of memories back with us to Indiana! Just came back from "the island" once again and must say this was the finest house we have stayed in all our years of visiting. Attention to detail in all respects and absolutely the cleanest house we have stayed in. A big 'thank you' to the owners for making sure all the small things that make a family vacation were in place. We had a wonderful week. Kids loved the bunkroom. House is beautiful. Saw dophins 4 times. Love the Island. Our week has gone so fast. Loved the porch and pool, much of our stay was spent there. It was our 11 month olds first trip to the ocean and she loved it. She loved to lick the salty sea shells and her fingers salty from the ocean. I can't wait to see how much she loves it in a few years. We also went to the Blue Parrot to eat...great food. How can I even begin to put into words what this week in St. George has meant to each of us. My husband, John and I will return to Kansas City with a heart full of precious memories of the time spent with our loved ones. The grandkids couldn't have had a better time. There were giggles galore, gathering of shells, watching crabs scurry across the beach and seeing dolphins frolicking. Your home is positively spectacular. We have many memories to ponder on forever. The pool was great! We saw dolphins from the balcony on our last day, the weather was great, no rain and the Gulf waves were awesome. We were all in awe by the house as it is beautiful. Thanks for opening it up to us for use. The beds slept very comfortably, the porch and rocking chairs were a hit too. It is 6 a.m. and we will be packing up our truck shortly to begin our journey home to the east coast of Florida. With us, we take a weeks worth of wonderful memories made with family and friends that will last a lifetime. Your beautiful beach home is a big part of those memories. This was our 2nd stay here and we loved the addition of the pool. Gathering each morning on the proch with coffee cups in hand, we took great delight in watching the dolphins appear each morning. The weather was wonderful this week. We love the serenity of being on this island with the people we love. Your home is so comfortable and warm we immediately settle in and the fun begins. We love cooking and baking in that big kitchen. That huge dining room table was not just a place to eat, but where artwork, boardgames, and puzzles were done. Happy New Year! To Aloan By The Sea Family, I just wanted to say this was one of the "BEST" holiday seasons we have ever had. This is our 2nd time here-and all in this year. First in Jan. 05' and now-November 05'. We really enjoyed both our stays. Your home is lovely! Thank You for sharing your home with us. We didn't swim in the pool but enjoyed lounging around it. It is a nice addition. We had four family members, 2 here and 2 at the "Coast Guard". We have many great memories to share-our Thanksgiving here for 2005. ALOAN BY THE SEA WAS WELL WORTH THE WAIT AS WE WERE SUPPOSE TO COME IN JULY BUT GOT CANCELLED DUE TO HURRICANE DENNIS! THANKFULLY, WE WERE ABLE TO RESCHEDULE-THE HOUSE AND THE FURNISHINGS WERE WONDERFUL. IT WAS SO NICE TO COME TO A HOUSE THAT WAS FULLY FUNCTIONAL FOR A FAMILY VACATION. I dreaded the morning we leave all week long. Yet, here it is...The kids are sad to be leaving. Our 7 year old cried last night at the mention of leaving. We enjoyed "Aloan" tremendously and hope to make it a tradition. The house is comfortable and inviting. We laughed and enjoyed time with good friends and great food. Thank You!
