Location: Westminster, London, England, United Kingdom, Europe (between Buckingham Palace & The Houses of Parliament)

Accommodations:  Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Other (See Description), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-3)

Albany Court is a delightful apartment situated in-between the Royal Family's residence, Buckingham Palace, and The Houses of Parliament. This is a one-bedroomed apartment with US king bed, and an additional murphy wall bed (in the living room), directly opposite St James's Park tube station!

Albany Court is on the 1st floor and has an elevator. Located on the corner of Palmer Street and Petty France (please see the street map link below), it's situated in one of London's most prestigious neighbourhoods - the regal and historical district of Saint James's Park, beside Mayfair.

Why not take a Royal stroll alongside your London home? Saint James's Park is a magnificent sweep of open lawns, trees, and gardens with a lake at its very heart!

Once you've crossed the park, you'll arrive at the Mall - a broad open avenue that runs between Trafalgar Square, London's Theatreland, and Buckingham Palace. You'll notice Trafalgar Square and Admiralty Arch on the right, with Buckingham Palace on the left. The Mall is lined with many stately buildings.

Check to see if the "Royal Standard", the Queen's flag is flying outside Buckingham Palace - this means she's at home!

Catch the Changing of the Guards or visit the state rooms of Buckingham Palace itself or the state carriages and splendid horses at the Royal Mews.

Check the London Tourist Board's website to see what's happening (the Queen's Birthday, Lord Mayor Show, etc.). Albany Court will give you an advantage when all these events are on, as you're so close to all the action!

To the right of Albany Court are the Houses of Parliament, the River Thames and Westminster Abbey. You can literally adjust your wristwatch to Big Ben within two minutes of leaving Albany Court. At the Houses of Parliament, visit the House of Lords, House of Commons, and the "Strangers' Galleries."

Westminster Abbey is the ceremonial site of almost every British coronation from William the Conqueror in 1066 to Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. Monarchs buried here include Henry VII, Elizabeth I, and Mary, Queen of Scots. Nearby is the Tomb to the Unknown Warrior and Poet's Corner, the resting place of Chaucer, Robert Browning, and Alfred Tennyson among others. Number Ten Downing Street, the Prime Minister's office, is also nearby.

The River Thames is besides the Houses of Parliament. At Westminster Pier, catch a boat to the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Tate Modern art gallery, Saint Paul's Cathedral, and Greenwich to visit its Maritime Museum and Observatory. Alternatively, visit the London Eye, London Aquarium, and South Bank Arts Centre just a walk over Westminster Bridge.

You will also be surrounded by London's greatest art collections: The Royal Academy (home to Constable, Gainsborough, etc.), Tate Britain (Hockney, Turner, and British art from the 1500s onwards), The National Gallery (Van Gogh, Monet, Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Goya, and Rembrandt), or take a Damien Hirst-designed boat to the Tate Modern (Dali, Picasso, Mattisse, Munch, Pollock, Lichtenstin, etc.).

For some shopping therapy, visit Pall Mall, Picadilly Circus, Regent Street, Oxford Street, or New Bond Street. Foodies will love Fortnum and Mason's food hall. To stock up on general groceries go to Sainsbury's supermarket on Victoria Street just round the corner (only 100 metres away), the largest supermarket in Central London and opposite Westminster Cathedral!

Unbelievably, Saint James's Park tube station is RIGHT BESIDE Albany Court. This is extremely convenient for all, particularly those travelling to/from Heathrow Airport.

Gatwick Airport travellers just take the Gatwick Express train to/from Victoria Train Station, which is just at the end of Victoria Street and literally a five-minute taxi journey.

The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, gas hob, electric oven and brand new Bosch washer/dryer.

The bathroom has natural light and a heated towel rail. The entire flat is bathed in sunlight as the ceilings are very high and it benefits from both south and west aspects.

There's a telephone with answering service, as well as high speed ADSL Broadband Internet Access and a brand new Philips LCD TV and Sony multi-regional DVD/CD Player, so bring your DVD collection. The TV benefits from digital freeview so expect more than the normal 5 terrestial channels, you'll have hundreds!

Rent with confidence from owners with four years' experience of accomodating VRBO-ers.

Albany Court is waiting to offer you a truly ROYAL experience!

    • My wife and I stayed here for two weeks (late April/early May - 2009) and really enjoyed it. Big Ben/Parliament and Westminster Abbey are right around the corner. Tube station right there. Grocery stores are a short walk away. St. James's Park (which is wonderful by the way) is right there. Just a really great location. The flat itself is nice and the ability to cook when you want and to run some laundry in the flat while you're out sight-seeing is very helpful. We had a great time and would highly recommend this flat to others.

    • My husband, 21 year old son and I spent a wonderful week at this spacious, delightful flat. Not only was the location great but it was clean and well furnished. Anita is so helpful to work with it truly couldn't have been easier or worked out better. Why would you stay in a tiny hotel room when you can have all this?

    • My husband and I stayed at this apartment for a week on vacation with my in-laws. This apt exceeded my expectations. All apts claim to be in a great location but this one truly was in a great location. It's close to most tourist spots; the tube station is really next door (and no you don't hear the noise). There's a convenience store in the ground floor of the building. The grocery store is less than 5 mins walk. The apartment must have been renovated in the not too distant past. It had lots of storage space. Even though it's only one bedroom, there is a hallway that separates the living room, kitchen and bathroom. So this apt was as good as two bedrooms. The bathroom is spacious; the towel warmer adds that extra touch. The wireless internet access is invaluable. The apt has little things of great convenience like tour books, reataurant guides, umbrella and even plug adapters to work with appliances from different countries. The owner has extra-ordinary patience and is great to work with. Highly recommended. Advice to guests: Front-loading washer doesn't dry very well. You will have to hang clothes overnight for drying (there is a rack in the closet). So pack accordingly.

    • We were in London for a week for our son's wedding and chose Albany Court based on other positive recommendations. Everything about the flat and our stay was perfect. Its proximity to so much (including the tube station) was a double bonus---we saw the changing of the guard not once, but twice. And walks in St. James' and Hyde Parks were fun(we had lovely weather). Anita was always responsive to our questions and concerns prior to our arrival. Having all the guide books available was great. We would definitely stay at Albany Court again.

    • I didn't want to leave! I've stayed in various self catering properties in London before, but this has been one of my favourites. Such a comfortable and lovely flat! It's situated next to the underground station, and the location is perfect. The park is a very short walk, there are numerous pubs and restaurants nearby, as well as a convenience store directly below the flat, and a large grocery store a short walk away. The flat was spotless, with high quality linens, lovely furnishings, a wonderful new TV and DVD player, and loads of 'extras'. The owner was such a delight - very professional, friendly and accommodating. I'm already planning my next visit and highly recommend this flat to anyone considering it. :)

    • A fabulous location within easy walking distance of many London sites including Buckingham Palace, London Eye, parliament buildings, west end theatres and restaurants, Trafalgar Square, Churchill’s wartime bunker, etc. Also extremely convenient access to the London Underground, shopping, a grocery store, and friendly neighbourhood pubs. The flat is comfortable, and well equipped with most of the usual amenities of home. A very enjoyable stay!

    • The flat was lovely and the location made our trip just that much more special. In the past I'd stayed in Bloomsbury and never had a chance to explore around St. James's Park. Until our stay at Albany Court I never knew what I'd missed on previous visits. Tube station, pub, corner store all within a stone's throw and a large market minutes away made for a relaxing stay. Having the ability to see sights during the day and come back and relax and feel as if we were in our own home made our visit perfect albeit too short.
