Centro Historico apartment description
The Guest Suite in this elegant, split plan apartment in the Historic District of San Miguel de Allende (steps from the Angela Peralta Theatre, 4see Map) - is a small, fully furnished bedroom, with it's own full bathroom. It has twin or king bed flexibility (see Video). It has a desk with chair, an upholstered Queen Ann chair, 2 footstools, 3 lamps, and French doors opening on a flowered balcony over a small garden. Cool in summer, warm in winter. A heater, a fan, and a white noise machine are provided. It has a well-appointed, full bath and storage space. You will have access to a Vonage phone, wireless HS Internet, a flat screen TV with basic cable, and use of the washer. All linens (sheets are ironed), towels, paper products, and maid service three times a week, are included. Thee is purified water throughout the apartment. You enter the complex (please see the Video!) through a courtyard with flowers, trees and a lovely fountain. Two doormen provide further security, and for small tips will help carry groceries. There is a huge roof terrace with trees, an herb garden, and views almost to Madrid; guests enjoy it for morning coffee, to watch the hot air balloons, entertain friends, and sun bathing. The ambiance of the apartment is north African or Morrocan, so shade is valued and blackout curtains are available at many of the windows for the afternoon sun. I have original paintings and Persian carpets, and the light here is very strong. I can acquire a refrigerator for anyone staying over 6 months. This is a home, not a hostel, B&B, or pension. Sex, age, and sexual orientation are irrelevant. The primary owner is a large, affectionate Siamese cat. Secondary owner lives in the Master Suite, rarely using the living room and not into cooking, although the kitchen has anything any person who does cook might want. Kitchen and living room privileges are negotiable. No subletting, no pets, no smoking except on the roof terrace; overnight guests limited, with prior permission, and at the rate stipulated. NOTE: VRBO requires a 'nightly' rate, but I do not rent by the night. You can stay the days you want to, but your rate will be for a week (or a month). Please, please check the Calendar for availability, and the NOTES (scroll down to the bottom under RATES) for a clearer picture of the Rates.

We loved staying with Anna at her casa. Our suite was well appointed, peaceful and private. Anna added to our enjoyment by making suggestions, filling us in on the history and culture of the community-generally being a warm and witty presence. The apartment is unique and so well located-just across the street from Petit Four, a divine French patisserie (do have a brownie for us).

Just what I needed!
Just what I needed!
This was perfect for me. Anna’s home is lovely, safe and comfortable. The room is so pretty, with it’s own flowered balcony and sounds of birds (which I love). I had privacy and access to the kitchen or living area as desired. I am picky about beds and noise. The bed was very comfy, and on the few nights there was some street noise, a fan drowned it out. There were thoughtful touches, like fresh flowers and welcoming wine. Anna will give you space, but as a single traveler, I also enjoyed occasional chats, especially because we shared some common interests. When I ran into some of those travel-related glitches, Anna helped me get them resolved. The location is indeed central to everything and I walked and walked, though bus and taxi access is also easy. Bring good walking shoes, as the town is all uneven cobblestones, including the sidewalks. San Miguel de Allende is full of wonderful people and beautiful sights. Anna’s home was a great place to begin and end the day.

Everything in the review is true except she forgot to tell you that the mattress is heavenly and I slept the entire night. Probably had something to do with walking 6 hours every day from this incredible location with hundreds of restaurants nearby. The house is immaculate and Anna is the sweetest host and having your own concierge is a bonus. She even got us in to see Doc Severin our last night at a local jazz club and was the icing on the cake for a magical vacation to the most magical city in the world. It's a little bit of Italy and France world charm but runs on 110 voltage.

The Best Kept Secret
The Best Kept Secret
Me & Mom fell in love with San Miguel de Allende and our hearts will forever be grateful for everything that Anna our host provided. Including a beautiful intimate surprise gathering for my mom's birthday upon our arrival the next day! Anna went above and beyond in spoiling us, and this is in her true nature, making our trip even more unforgettable. I highly recommend staying in her home! You will enjoy true hospitality with Anna! The beds we slept in were very cozy and comfortable. Anna is very accommodating and will provide you with any of your needs, within fair reason. She provides important information regarding when, where, and what to do in SMA, not to mention she is located right smack in the middle of all the action in SMA. You step out of her home and "WOW" AMAZING! you are in the middle of restaurants, shops, dancing, you will even find in front of her home a french pastry shop and a restaurant called "Tio Lucas" well known for it's steaks! i tried the one prepared with mustard sauce and it was the best ever!. 2 blocks away, you will come across the main park with it's beautiful churches and shops and restaurants galore. In the main park, some building adjacent to the park, you may locate companies that provide you with tour guides and trips to different short term destinations around San Miguel. You could visit Guanajuato, Dolores Hidalgo for it's Ceramics, and more! all one hour away or you can simply ask Anna, if "Dante" her assistant and driver of many years may also take you where needed for a reasonable price. Dante is an excellent driver and very responsible. We made arrangements with him to take us to "La Gruta" a place where you relax in thermal waters drinking some of their refreshing pina coladas! One of our favorites was also another place that have pools of thermal waters ranging from hot, warm and cool called "Escondido Place" you are even allowed to bring your own food or even Barbeque and if not they have their own restaurants. Every day we stayed at Anna's we were pleasantly surprised with the warm surroundings, beautiful views from the terrace, her hospitality or just chilling out with her. i warmly recommend anyone to go stay at Anna's! Best place ever!!!!!! Not to mention her unbeatable prices, considering the location! Just give her a call, you won't regret it!!! We love you Anna!! Mom thanks you from her heart for everything you did on her birthday!!! We will definately come back!!

Cozy San Miguel Hideaway - a home-away-from-home.
Cozy San Miguel Hideaway - a home-away-from-home.
This was our second trip to San Miguel and we were very fortunate to come across this cozy spot to stay in the heart of Centro. The location was great, near good restaurants and shops, and only a short walk to the Jardin which is the major gathering spot for locals and visitors alike. Anna, our hostess, was very gracious and helpful during our stay and was a mine of local information which was extremely helpful as we are planning to retire to SMA next year. Even though the guest room suite is located in the owner's private two-bedroom apartment, we never felt as though there was an issue of lost privacy as the two bedroom suites are on opposite sides of the apartment. We actually liked the friendly contact that we had with Anna on a daily basis, but if visitors would prefer to remain more aloof and private, I am sure that scenario would be respected. Dante, Anna's right-hand man, chauffeur, and jack-of-all trades, and Magda, the housekeeper, were both charming and helpful. We had a minor issue with Wifi accessibility on my iPad in our room and Dante and a computer specialist came and sorted out the problem within a day or so. We certainly didn't expect that! I would have been quite happy to access my iPad in the living room where there was no problem but this fix was very much appreciated. As far as the accommodations were concerned, we found the bedroom to be comfortable and well-furnished, although a little on the small side. This wasn't too much of a concern to us as we were out and about most of the day and evening. We don't travel to wonderful places and then spend a lot of time in our room. We also had the option of using the living room and kitchen as Anna rarely uses those spaces for herself. The king bed configuration was VERY comfortable! The linens and pillows were perfect. This is very important to me as I am very picky with my bed comfort! Anna has made an effort to make the room comfortable and cozy, including lovely little extras like a fresh flower bouquet on the desk, bottles of water on the bedside table, and a powerful fan and white noise-maker to use when and if needed. Fresh flowers, fluffy towels, and a hair-dryer were provided in the tiled private bathroom. The listing was accurate in terms of location and amenities. The property was clean and well-maintained. The rental price was more than fair, and I would not hesitate to recommend this property to friends and family, and, in fact, have already done so. Thanks, Anna!

About the owner: I grew up in Michigan on the lake and graduated from the U of Michigan, flew for PanAm, taught school in Latin American, married, and lived for 17 years in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad in the West Indies. My son is a commercial airline captain and lives in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. I have a granddaughter who lives in Barbados. My sister, who is blind, lives here in San Miguel. I have wonderful help - almost family - here: Dante, (licensed chauffeur and police trained) who is my driver and right hand man, and Magdalena, who takes care of my food and the apartment. Dante is bi-lingual and can find, fix, or do anything; and Magdalena is one of the most likeable people you will ever meet - and she can cook. I love San Miguel and the Mexican people and feel fortunate every day I'm allowed by the Mexican government to live here.
Why the Owner Chose Centro Historico:
The location of the apartment, in my opinion, and for me, is unequaled. (Due to this location, the guest suite will appeal MOST to people who know San Miguel and want 'puro centro'.) I've lived in Paris and in London and this is the closest thing to that type of urban living, without the staggering cost. I'm an urban person and like to walk to most everything - safely and without sweating. I have churchbells, parades, fireworks; people who make eye contact and exchange daily greetings with me; I know my neighborhood and many of my neighbors. My yoga class, offered 3 times a week, is around the corner at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio. There are 3 alternative medicine sources within a block, Starbuck's is around another corner, and if the wind is blowing just right I can hear the mariachi's playing in the Jardin on weekends.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
There are only so many rooms (B&Bs, hotels, etc.) in this prime location. Most of them start at $100 to $150 a night - nearly 3 times the price of the Guest Suite, and there's no kitchen, no living room, and no one to ask real questions. I'm looking for the person who values comfort, elegance and location, over, possibly, a slight loss of privacy.
