My husband and I stayed in this cabin. The main reason for giving this rental 3 stars was because of the service we received from the Hollands. Even though we paid promptly I practically had to beg them to give us the information we needed to access the property. I eventually felt the need to contact Home Away in hopes of spurring the Hollands on to give us the access information since we were about to leave on our trip. They caused a lot of unnecessary stress. The day before they were leaving on their own vacation they finally did send the information and started the correspondence with "I thought we better send you some information". No kidding! They also neglected to tell us the main road to their cabin was closed to traffic. Since we don't carry a GPS or mobile device we could find no alternative way to reach the house. Again causing us unnecessary stress. Fortunately the Hollands did give us a phone number to call if we had a problem so we were able to reach someone who was able to assist us. Thank God. Since the cabin has only one small bathroom with a pedestal sink I feel that the place is only suitable for a family with small children or people who don't mind close quarters. I would never consider staying in this cabin again because of the way we were treated by the Hollands.

Owner response: So sorry that you did not enjoy the cabin. My husband and I try very hard to make everyone's stay as pleasant as possible. We strive to do our best to ensure our clients have all the necessary information in reference to their stay. The construction is still going on and is inconvenient for everyone in the area. The Hollands

All I have to say is this place is perfect. Our family of seven was comfortable and happy in this home. Tim & Dawn thought of everything and the home is clean and the decorations added to the charm. Great location, quick access to to so much the Black Hills has to offer. Our choice for a return visit. Really felt like a home away from home.

There were just a few glitches, but the owners were responsive and fixed them quickly. The house is cute and comfortable, and it's very well located for all of the Black Hills stuff. I would stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. We loved the cozy little home that fit the 7 of us perfectly! The kids LOVED being so close to the park and we could watch them from the house. We enjoyed the great deck and gas fire pit outside. We also enjoyed watching the deer cross the property several times. The cabin was well suited with all that we needed including chocolates on the pillows when we arrived. We loved that we could walk into town for dinner and ice cream and enjoyed the walk after dinner. Great cabin for the price. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely rent again! For friends who are going to that area, we will recommend your cabin. Thanks for the awesome experience!

We had a wonderful stay here! We are a family traveling with two teens and my brother in law. We had plenty of room to spread out. The owners were very nice. They thought of everything you could possibly need. It was much appreciated. Teens got plenty of use from wifi. Location was great, we could walk into town. Loved the decor! We did end up grilling one night, grocery store in town was very expensive. Do yourself a favor and shop before you get into Custer.

This was a very cute and very clean condo that suited our family vacation perfectly. A very comfortable bed in the master bedroom. Bunk beds were perfect for our kids and there is a sun room with a small bed that was perfect for an additional sleeping arrangement. Kids loved being able to walk across the lawn to the park. Custer is a perfect middle spot for all the South Dakota attractions. About 5-20 minutes to just about everything. Thanks for a great place to stay!

We certainly enjoyed our week at the cottage. The rental was very clean and comfortable. The furnishings were well-appointed with little extras provided. We put the gas grill to use when we tired of eating out. Convenient to all the attractions. The notebook's information was helpful and appreciated. The owners responded promptly to all inquiries beginning with our initial email, and even stopped by to see if we had a comfortable stay. We would recommend this rental. We would love to be able to return next year and would plan on staying at this property again.

Our group had the distinct pleasure of being the first to rent this quaint cottage. When we arrived, we were pleased to find a clean, well appointed cabin with many nice little touches. The photos on the website do not do it justice. We were provided with a book listing restaurants, sights and other local information. The kitchen was well appointed and the decor is charming. The deck is new and has a gas fireplace and the patio area boasts a large Weber gas grill. The owners were in touch with us and advised us to call them should we need anything. The location is wonderful. It's within walking distance of downtown Custer, adjacent to a playground and yet very quiet. We even had a deer visit the back yard almost every evening! We liked it so much we've already reserved it for a trip next summer. I would recommend this property to any family or group.
