'We want to update you on recent activity on Lot 3: the property to our south (behind the big green wall that runs the length of the entrance to our property and beside the Hokulani tower). This property belongs to Starwood, the builder and operator of Ka’anapali Ocean Resorts (KOR).
Starwood has acquired all necessary permits from the County to begin construction of a new Starwood timeshare project (under the Westin brand), with construction starting in 2015.
It is our understanding that: (I) The project will consist of 8 buildings, each consisting of 6 floors and a total 390 units as well as 2 parking garages providing approximately 800 stalls. We have more to learn. (II) Starwood has signed a general contractors contract with Hawaii Dredging and ground preparation will begin in earnest the week of February 16th. (III) Ground preparation will consist of moving the large mound of soil form the north end of Lot 3 to the south end. (VI) A traditional Hawaiian blessing for the project will be held on February 17th. This will not be open to the public. =======================================

About the owner: We are a young family living in the SF bay area. My husband grew up in Europe and I grew up in Asia and we decided to raise our family in the U.S.
Why the Owner Chose Honua Kai: We have lived and have traveled all over the world for many years. There is nothing quite like the Hawaiian islands, and within Hawaii we just fell in love with Maui as it has the perfect blend of natural beauty, excitement, and amenities.
We stayed at the Honua Kai for just one week in early 2013 and loved it so much that we decided to buy this unit right then and there. The resort is by far the newest beachfront property on Kanaapali and among the newest in all of Maui. We believe it is the perfect luxurious and yet laid back family vacation spot in paradise, offering fully equipped spacious condos with full four-star resort amenities.
