- The Master bedroom is very comfortable. The bed has high thread count cotton sheets, a memory foam pad, down comforter and plenty of pillows. The ocean views are obstructed slightly by a very large and lovely Phoenix Canarianthus (palm tree) but the surrounding greenery from a fairy-forest-like thicket and the cool ocean breezes that can blow through the open windows is pure therapy. It feels very private and yet light and bright. The second bedroom has two single beds that are fitted with fine quality linens and vintage bedspreads. - Summerland is a lovely little town. There is such a sweet spot in everyone's heart for this tiny seaside community. It's weather, it's clapboard cottages, it's views of the sea and the sky, it's quaint, small-townness. For being so small, Summerland is chalk full of things to do and see, yet minutes to everything else Santa Barbara. Be on the beach in Summerland watching polo ponies romp in the surf one minute, and in downtown Santa Barbara for lunch just minutes later. Stroll through the charming, cottage-lined streets to the shops and restaurants, as locals greet one another and collect their mail from the central post office. Even the public elementary school only has three class rooms and 64 students. Yet don't be surprised to see the occasional Hollywood celeb escaping the ritzy (neighboring) Montecito environment for simple Summerland comfort and style. Summerland is a true haven....moreless

Summerland Hospitality! 5 Star!
Summerland Hospitality! 5 Star!
Beth was wonderful to work with every step of the way in booking my 4 day stay. I knew she truly meant it when she said "what ever you need, I want you to feel completely comfortable and "at home," and from the moment I arrived, I did. I previously lived in Santa Barbara for 15 yrs and always admired the beauty of Summerland as I passed by it frequently. Was so happy to find accomodations there knowing its a perfect location for all you may want to do there. A walk on the beach, a quick trip into Montecito and Santa Barbara, or heading South into Carpenteria, Ojai and Ventura. Beautifully decorated, clean and spacious accomodations for friends and family who came to visit and spend a night, or two with me. Once checked in at 4pm we never even left the property that first night! Just had a lovely dinner out on the deck enjoying the comforts of home, the view of the gardens, ocean/islands. Gazing at the stars was pretty sweet too!! In the morning I enjoyed a hot cup of coffee brewed in the fully equipped kitchen while reading "BE" (one of the many lovely books in the home) on the front lawn in the morning was so peaceful and perfect way to start the day! Heading into Montecito and Santa Barbara was a beautiful and very short drive of 10 mins, if that! I must say it was hard to leave this property I enjoyed the comforts and beauty so much. Thank you Beth, truly a wonderful stay!!! I hope to return.

Summerland Pied a Terre
Summerland Pied a Terre
We were more than delighted with Seaglass Holly cottage and absolutely loved the decor from antiques to plein air paintings, and quirky decorations, to attractive comfortable furniture, perfect for lounging on lazy Summerland afternoons. And the view from the kitchen and deck was a treat and we loved taking our cafe au lait out on the deck each morning, gazing out towards the Channel Islands. Long walks on Summerland Beach and boogey-boarding, hiking the many trails through the area, and exploring the many antique shops ....so much to take advantage of in this perfect seaside community. We were so impressed by Beth's attention to detail (fruit & flowers upon arrival) and her friendly assistance. We will definitely come back from France to stay in this perfect gem again.

Owner response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review for Seaglass Holly, and thank you for the kind words and details about the charm of Summerland. I am so very pleased that you enjoyed your stay so much. The French countryside and the Paris flea market remain a large part of my design and life-style inspiration over the years. Thank you for reminding me that there are those who still fresh-squeeze their orange juice every day. I look forward to your return. Most sincerely, Beth and family.
A Perfect Stay!
A Perfect Stay!
I was thrilled to have the chance to stay in this lovely two bedroom, ocean view house. Beth, the owner, was more than happy to work with us all throughout the planning stages of our visit. Including rescuing us when we got locked out because of our own fault! Linens were wonderful and the beds very cozy and comfortable. We would gladly choose this again, and we do travel to Santa Barbara area every year (so we have stayed in SB, Montecito and now Summerland). It is an easy hop onto the 101 freeway in either direction and the shops and cafes in Summerland are just so quaint! Thanks Beth for being a great hostess and keeping such a lovely place (and for all the help)!!

Owner response: Thank you Barbara, for the great review. I was so happy that it all worked out for you and your family to be at Seaglass Holly that week. You were wonderful guests and easy to accommodate. Even the moment you were locked out was easy to fix. Thank you again for the review and for being our guests. We hope to have you again next year, if not sooner!
Lovely Seaside Cottage
Lovely Seaside Cottage
We loved our stay at this charming seaside cottage! It was very comfortable for my husband and I and our two teenage children. We really enjoyed the views with our coffee each morning sitting in the comfortable chairs in front of the picture window, and at night it was very relaxing to sit with a glass of wine on the deck before dinner. The deck is so nice that you could spend all of your time outside because there is both an umbrella for some shade and an outdoor heat lamp for when it gets a little cool in the evening. The cottage is beautifully decorated and very charming, with lots of thoughtful touches like fresh flowers and cozy throws. Summerland is a very nice little beach town with some great restaurants and a very nice beach just a short walk away. Santa Barbara is just a few minutes away for great shopping and fun. Finally, the owner is very thoughtful and accommodating, and she went out of her way to make our stay very comfortable. We have stayed in many VRBOs all over the world and this is definitely one of our favorites. Highly recommended!

Owner response: Dear Family~ Thank you for that beautiful review. It brought tears to my eyes. Truly. Thank you for the kind and thorough details about what makes this little town and our Seaglass so special - and you did it so quickly after your stay. I know life is busy, so I am especially grateful for your taking the time to share this so promptly. As you know, reviews are so important. You4 were a joy to have and I am truly honored to have you as our first guests at Seaglass Holly. I am hopeful you will be back again soon (and often!) Thank you again, Most Sincerely, We5

About the owner: My name is Beth Goodman. I grew up in Montecito and Santa Barbara and feel deeply connected to this community. Having left for six years with my children, we simply couldn't stay away any longer from those we love and Santa Barbara's unique beauty and way of life. As a business owner throughout my life; and a floral and event decorator for most of those years, I have created events for many of Santa Barbara's most well known residents. I love combining my love of nature, and fine things - the handmade and unique, to all of my business and personal endeavors. And none more so than the experience of vacation rentals. I also feel particularly drawn to connecting my guests to those special elements in this great area - the people, places and the cultural experiences that make the Santa Barbara area and Summerland specifically, such a truly captivating place. If you would like, I will happily help guide you to that which may be meaningful to you. While Santa Barbara is known for its popular attractions; and I do love Brophy's at the Harbor, the I Modannari festival at the Mission, Joe's and some of State Street's other offerings; For me it comes back to my love of that special feeling, that special something...that something that might not be able to be named quality that infuses the Santa Barbara life. ..The view from a particular stretch of Riviera ridge; a quiet but well worn footpath to a secluded beach; the small Italian restaurant tucked away in a courtyard. It's the sacred sunrise spots. The amazing and yet relatively unknown public gardens where you can stroll amongst the rare and profound beauty that man and nature have co-created. It's about the painter, the jewelry designer, the sculptor, the winemaker, the architecture, the best little coffee house, the old adobes lovingly restored. It's those elements and our people, that are truly one of a kind. Those things make this place so magical for me. I truly hope to share this with you.
Why the Owner Chose Summerland:
I chose a vacation rental here in the Santa Barbara area because I have wanted to share this life style, this beautiful seaside community and all that is meaningful to me, with others. Having grown up here in Santa Barbara, for years I think I took for granted all that this area has to offer. Since then I have come to deeply appreciate the incredible diversity of the area - the wealth of natural and man-made attractions between the mountains and the sea, the beauty of the climate and topography and the abundance of talented and caring people. We are known for our Native American and Spanish heritage of course, our red tile roofs, our wine region, our flower growers, our beaches, our islands, our 'rich and famous' - but there is all this and so much more. I have want to host, nurture, entertain and rejuvenate our visitors while also helping to connect them with the best of Santa Barbara. I want to help develop and prosper the wonderful people and natural resources of this community that reflect what we Goodman's love most about our home. I want to be a part of building a world I want to see more of. Santa Barbara and it surrounding communities, are each so uniquely rich in their individuality and appeal. There is so much to love here.
