About this property

Breathtaking views, total tranquility, come enjoy the mountains at their most serene. This home is a 4 bedroom 4 bath log cabin (Montana logs ) The 4th bedroom is a spacious loft over the detached garage . It has a refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven and toaster and full bath. The cabin is located on 20 acres just a short distance from downtown Asheville as well as lots of other wonderful attractions. ......Hiking trails and beautiful mountain views...The home is situated down an asphalt 700 foot easy grade (less than 7 degrees) driveway. It's always manageable without a 4 wheel drive unless we get some rare and uncharacteristic ice after a snow melt. It has only happened to us once in 5 years. The Estate is Very Private.. It is Green Cleaned and a solar panel system is in the works. We now accept credit cards. Please inquire directly. .

Roomy Cabin with great yard, stream, & woods

Everyone had a great time and weather was clear for exploring the huge yard, hill, and adjacent mountain woods. Eating space was roomy for our big family and house & garage loft temperatures were fine for these cold winter days. Our host Daryl was very accommodating with our questions. Bath shower water pressure was a little low and we needed more than the 8 bathroom towels provided.

Short stay

Fletcher is a nice town about 20 min away from everything. We had 13 family members the 1st night and 10 the 2nd. pros: the property was very private with a nice driveway and excellent parking. that is extremely hard to find in the mountains. there were a lot of beds and the mattresses were really comfortable. linens and bath towels were provided. cons: the water pressure was not good. after about the 2nd or 3rd person to shower in the morning there was only a trickle left so many of our group was not able to shower. there was no hand soap, no hand towels, no kitchen towels, no oven mits or many small essentials that we did not consider. luckily the dollar general was close by so we purchased those. the house sleeps up to 14 but there were only 4 dining chairs and 3 bar stools. nowhere for people to sit and play games or eat. the house was freezing when we arrived and we never figured out how to turn on the fire place. Most of the cons are definitely fixable but the price was too high in my opinion for all of the inconveniences. No showers was the biggest hassle.

Log cabin

We came for the weekend for my son's wedding with my mom and dad and some old friends, one of our friends was in a wheelchair and the owner built us a ramp, which was so very nice and helpful. The property was in a beautiful, peaceful setting and close to our venue in Asheville. Had a great weekend!

My name is Daryl. I am a graduate of the University of Florida(Go Gators) I live in Jacksonville, Fl. and divide my time between there, our lake house on Kingsley Lake , and our beautiful cabin in Asheville, NC. In addition to real estate I own an engineering firm. I have 2 college age boys ( UNF)

Why they chose this property

After many years of visiting North Carolina ,I chose Asheville for it's eclectic,scenic, mountainous, and pure natural beauty. I also love it's proximity to numerous outdoor activities. I figured that if it's good enough for the Vanderbilts it's good enough for myself and my family. I chose this particular location for it's views , wildlife, mountain stream and hiking trails. It took 2 years to build and I continue to enjoy further improving the property. I have added an organic farm, (new 2 bd 2 br cabin being built here ) a Japanese garden, a fruit orchard and a solar panel system is in the works.

VERY CLOSE TO DOWNTOWN ASHEVILLE...THE BILTMORE...AND VARIOUS ATTRACTIONS.....WITH THE NEW CABIN IT CAN BE RENTED AS A 6 BEDROOM RETREAT WITH MAXIMUM PRIVACY ENSURED.
