This lovely, Victorian, terraced cottage offers modern, light, and comfortable accommodation for 4. There is a large storage room on the lower ground floor with useful space as a drying room, for cycles or sailing gear. The rear garden enjoys the sunshine for most of the day and there is a small patio area with table chairs and parasol.
Cowes Town Centre is within a few minutes level walk with a pedestrianised High Street full of cafes and restaurants, small specialist shops, and chandlers. The beach and waterfront at Cowes is within a ten minute level walk and is very colourful in the sailing season. The cottage is within walking distance of the Red Jet high speed catamaran from Southampton and the floating bridge at East Cowes for those visitors arriving on the car ferry from Southampton or for visiting Queen Victoria's home at Osborne House and the seafront.
The accommodation is spread over four floors with narrow staircases to each. There are two double bedrooms, one with twin beds and the other double. The bathroom has full bath and a separate shower unit. The ground floor has a comfortable living room with TV/DVD and freeview box, and the fully-equipped kitchen has stainless steel oven, hob and extractor, a microwave, refrigerator, as well as a washer and dryer.
All electricity and gas (including central heating) and hot water is included in the costs. Visitors should be aware that as the property is a Victorian cottage, the stairs are narrow and a little steep. There is on-road parking outside the property and also there is a council car park within a two minute walk.
The island boasts many beaches and charming hostelries and country pubs offering welcoming food after walking, swimming, or just enjoying the unspoiled countryside. For those who enjoy walking or cycling, the island is a perfect base with hundreds of miles of cycleways or public footpaths with designated rides or walks. Seafood is a speciality in many areas and fresh crab and lobster can be bought from many local fishermen on the island.
Cowes itself is, of course, the world renowned centre for yachting - home to the Admirals Cup and the annual race season, Cowes Week. |
