We stayed 3 nights at Casa Redonda (bottom floor only) after a 4 night stay on the mainland in the Jungle. There were 9 of us in our party; 3 children and 6 adults, ages ranged from 7 to 69. My husband and I, our 2 daughters, their husbands, and our 3 grandchildren. We had a fantastic time! We could have lounged by the pool for those 3 days and been perfectly happy. The accommodations were fine for us. The kids stayed in one bedroom and the 3 adult couples had bedrooms to ourselves. Mary was very helpful with arranging for Manolo to pick us up at the water taxi dock. We rented golf carts while we were there, strongly advised, and had a bouncing good time tooling around the island on these. Elvis and his son were very helpful and attentive to our needs, cleaned the pool and the grounds every day. Maria was terrific at cleaning the house every day and folding our laundry if she found any in the dryer. We also booked Suya tours on our last day there and they took us snorkling, then drove us to a small island for lunch and took us right to the hotel dock in Belize City where we were staying our last night before departing for home the next morning. Luckily, while we were there, it was quite windy so we were hardly bothered by misquitos. There were a few flies. There are flies and misquitos where we live in the states as well. We had no problem with garbage dump smells. I would highly recommend Casa Redonda as a wonderful place to visit. Thanks to all the staff for such an enjoyable vacation.

This place is amazing! Has every comfort you'd possibly need the staff is attentive and courteous! Anything you ask for they are happy to help you; this is true in all of Belize! The local people are so friendly and do not harass or hassle you to buy things but are very helpful when you inquire. The house and grounds are immaculately cared for and comfortable. The house is clean and the beds are comfortable, complete with rain shower heads in the shower. There is plenty of room to lounge and relax. The pool is very clean and when the waterfall is turned out it is so tranquil. The convenience of the pier cannot be overstated! It was an adventure to get to town on the golf carts which is about a 30 minute ride but when people came and picked us up on the pier for tours it was a dream. Also, I was proposed to on that pier during our stay! My boyfriend and I went out at night to look at the stars and he popped the question :) Belize is a magical place! I HIGHLY recommend Scuba Steve located right across from the water taxi in San Pedro for any and all tours. It is a family operation, as opposed to a commercial type operation, and very competitively priced! They are very welcoming and know the waters like the back of their hand! They are accommodating, professional, and fun! If you're reading this and debating whether to go to Belize- do it! I have traveled to over 40 countries and Belize is amazing! I can't wait to go back- maybe for my honeymoon?! ;)

My father booked this trip for him and spouse (our mom) and his four children, their spouses and children. My dad died in September, but we all decided to go anyway and bring his ashes to sprinkle in the Belize waters. We were a group of 12 aged 11- 82. Elvis and Maria were kind and accomplished caretakers, taking care of all our needs. The golf carts that Mary arranged were essential. It was so nice to have a dock where you could be picked up for fishing, scuba, and snorkeling adventures. Suya Tours provided us with fantastic scuba and snorkeling plans. The best snorkel I've ever seen at Hol Chan even in the rain! Marfa, the cook that you can hire, is an excellent cook, like the previous writer expressed and I would definitely recommend her, especially if you are arriving late and you'd to have some dinner and breakfast and you can ask her to pick up whatever food and drink you'd like to have in the house before you make the trip to town (but there is a service charge and you need to pay in cash for her services). BUT it was delicious!! We rented both the top and bottom floors. All nicely decorated. The beds are comfortable. No complaints. Steps are steep and slick to the upstairs if you have folks with those issues (no elevators); but both up and downstairs have kitchens and serving areas. I have been to Mexico and Central America for over 30 years. There are always sand fleas and mosquitos, so get over it....If there is a magical cure, let us know. Find something that will work for you. We used Repel this year and still came home chewed up. We used to use Skin so Soft by Avon. Maybe some cintronella candles? Also my husband is handicapped and has balance issues. Elivs tried to help out with providing a plastic chair for the shower. If you have shower balance needs, bring your own stuff. Final thing, my son left 2 DVDs at the property when we left. My brother stayed an extra day in San Padro, not in the house. I contacted Mary (and even with our lacking cell, phone, text and email..and it was Elvis' day off) Elvis was able to find my brother and bring the DVDs to him. That's great service for you!

From the moment we landed everything was organized from golf carts to tours. We were greeted with a very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Especially Eldis who went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. The house was beyond beautiful and the views were spectacular. Casa Redonda certainly exceeded my expectations and we are looking forward to returning next year with our children.

This house has a stunning view and David is a great help but that is about all the plus side for this rental. We had 5 girls stay in this rental and it was rough from the beginning. We had a late check in due to a morning excursion and the cleaning service wasn't done when we arrived which would have been fine but the house wasn't clean when she left. The bugs in the house and surrounding the pool area are absolutely horendous. If you are at all sensitive to bugs stay somewhere closer to town. We had bugs all over the counters and in the bedrooms. The beds are absolutely hard as wood. The pillows are old, lumpy and contain dust mites. I returned to states and had new bites due to the mites biting my face the last night there. All 5 guests left completely covered in bites. Around the pool is also very buggy. David said after the sun comes up they go away but our 2 days by the pool left us swatting flies continually. We stayed at a rental 1 mile closer to town without the bug issue so we knew it was related to the house. NO AC in living space. Only AC in bedrooms. Can't through TP in the toilet. Uncomfortable couch in living space. Only one bowl in the cupboard and no spoons (we saw the cleaning lady bringing in a whole container as we were leaving, weird). NO lights on the dock to keep you from tripping on the uneven boards. Dump is located just behind this property. A golf cart is a must if you plan on going into town really at all. We just wished that we would have been able to read this things prior to renting this house, and wanted to pass along our findings.

Owner response: Casa Redonda has been a vacation rental since 2003 & most of our guests are repeat clients. In regards to the comments made the beds are subject to each persons individual taste. Most of our clients prefer firm mattresses. There has never been a complaint before about the livingroom furniture and this home is booked 52 weeks of the year. There are lights on the pier, you just need to turn the switch on at the entrance. As to the sand flies & mosquito's, October is the height of the rainy season and after heavy rains the sand flies and mosquito's come out. If any clients are sensitive to sand flies or mosquito's I do not recommend them coming to Belize in the rainy season September-November. If the guests need any supplies the maid or caretaker are there to help so they just need to ask. The comment about the dump behind this home is not accurate. The dump is on the lagoon side of the island and is actually near the condo rental this client stayed at for 3 days prior to moving to Casa Redonda so I´m not sure why the mention of the dump. The dump has not affected any of our clients. Also, the Government is moving the dump to the mainland this year. As you can see from our other clients comments they all enjoyed Casa Redonda. Our guest books are filled with comments from the guests that had a wonderful stay.

Home is located 3.5 miles south of the San Pedro air strip so if you plan to go into town much I would recommend renting a golf cart otherwise taxi's could get spendy at about $15 US each way. The house offers 4 bicycles if you like to do that. There were 8 adults in our party (4 couples) for 7 nights. The house has plenty of room so you never feel like the place is crowded. The caretaker, David, is super! He was always there if we needed him. Our US phones wouldn't work at the house so we asked him to make reservations for us for Valentine's Day dinner in town and the place treated us like VIP's. BTW, there is a cell phone plugged in by the TV which is a house phone but we didn't notice it until the day we left. Was so nice to be "unplugged" for a week. The pool was cool which was refreshing after some of the day trips we did on the mainland. The lounge chairs were so comfortable I really could have spent the entire week out there just relaxing. Any tours we booked picked us up right from the dock so we didn't have to worry about leaving our golf carts in town somewhere. Here's a really big tip: have Marfa cook as many meals as you can book her for because the taste is wonderful and the price cannot be beat. Our group hired her for breakfast and dinner the day after we arrived and we really wished we would have booked her for more meals. By the time you go into town and pick a place and wait for a table, eat and pay for your food ~ we would have been better off having Marfa cook for us! I'm serious. Her Coco Loco chicken with rice and beans was outstanding! The house recommends Suya Tours and we now know why. We booked a Shark Ray Alley snorkel tour, Lamanai tour and the relaxing snorkel Beach BBQ tour with them and all three were fantastic! You have to ask for Carlos and Daniel for the Beach BBQ trip. So much fun! We also booked a 2 tank scuba dive trip and a Zip line/Cave tubing tour with Discovery Belize. They were awesome as well. Ask for Miss Carlene. She will take good care of you! You can't go wrong with this home! Whether you want to use it as a base & do lots of tours or just stay in all week long. They have you taken care of. Just remember to relax and understand you are on island time. You are taking a vacation to paradise for a reason so sit back, kick off your shoes and relax. You will not want to leave! I sure didn't! Working on determining when the next trip there will be.

We went in October and the weather was great. Plenty of room for the 2 other couples we took. Clean and comfortable. Pool was sweet, peaceful, quiet and right on the ocean but no beach. Service was excellant and friendly. Marfa was helpful and did the dishes and laundry for us... The tour company was great and Shark Ray Alley is awesome, must go... Get a golf cart it's worth it. The worst thing about the place is the garbadge dump smell but it's worth it... I will be back soon and next time we will be taking the kids because it is sooooooo beautiful. The best vacation ever and awesome snorkeling and diving.. I will be back

Owner response: The beach in front of Casa Redonda is beautiful with white sand. The best swimming and snokeling is at the end of the pier which is 8-10 feet deep. The local dump is 2 miles on the laggon side. Casa Redonda is on the oceanside. We think possibly the smell may have come from someone burning trash nearby but for sure it was not the dump. The town regularly barges the garbage off the island to the mainland.

We had a fantastic week here at Casa Redonda. Dinner by Marfa, great attention by David, excellent diving with Carlos at Suya tours. We arranged a morning of spearfishing (he did the fishing...we snorkeled) and he cooked us a snapper/lobster lunch on the bbq by the pool. Would consider renting this house again. The only downside, literally, is that the beds are hard as rocks.

Owner response: As owners we can positively say that we never had any complaints about the beds over 5 years and our home is booked 50 weeks of the year. We will look into the possibility of putting in thicker mattress pads so clients will have a choice to use them or not.

Three couples just returned home from a trip to casa redondo and had an absolutely grand time!! We snorkled at Mexico rocks, swam with the sharks at Shark Ray alley, toured the amazing Mayan ruins at Lamanai, went cave tubing and zip lining--we did it all!! The groundskeeper and housekeeper were wonderful as well--they took such good care of us--wish we could return the kindness sometime. I highly recommend this fabulous home if you want a true trip to paradise. You will not be sorry. The best part was relaxing in the beautiful pool that overlooked the bluest ocean known--nothing wrong with that!! I'm just sayin'.

My family and I stayed at this beautiful home this past April. Let me say it was amazing..... The home, the pool, the ocean - it is what every person needs. My kids had a great time, and so did my husband and I. Just a short golf cart ride to town for anything you need, from dinner to groceries. The caretaker of the home was amazing, he attended to our every need. Any questions we had he had the answers. The home was perfect. Wish I could have stayed longer.
