If you want to escape dreary weather and stress, our unit on the quiet side of a beautiful Longboat Key resort is the answer. This island paradise could provide the perfect setting for your tranquil beach vacation year after year.
CONDOMINIUM DESCRIPTION: Our unit is beautifully decorated in the colors of the sea and sky. The spacious great room/home theatre incorporates a high definition 46 inch plasma TV with blue ray DVD player, vaulted ceilings, and a magnificent wall of windows, bringing the outdoors in. The master bedroom includes a high definition flat panel television and Simmons Beauty Rest plush top king-size bed. The second bedroom has two twins.
LOCATION: Our location is ideal, directly on the beach in a small complex well-known for its friendly management and splendid landscaping. Longboat Key, on the Gulf of Mexico, is renowned for its beauty and comfortable ambience. It is a 'barrier island' washed by gentle Gulf waves perfect for swimming. The resort also features two tennis courts and a beautiful, heated swimming pool with plenty of area for sunbathing, along with multiple grills and patios for outdoor dining. Our unit itself is on the second-floor, providing perfect placement within the complex for maximum peace and privacy.
WILDLIFE AND NATURAL BEAUTY: Your walks to the beach (only steps away from the unit) will take you through beautifully maintained grounds show-casing flowering native plants and on to the incomparable soft sands and surf sounds of our beach. You may want to stop for awhile to read in the shade of the tiki huts by the pool. On your walk up or down the beach, new surprises await you everyday: Great Blue or Green Herons, Snowy Egrets, Ibis, Terns, Sandpipers, Ghost Crabs, Baby’s Ear Moon Shells, or even an endangered baby Loggerhead Turtle braving its first waves. A local Great Blue Heron plays fishing companion to the human surf fishermen, and Pelicans dive from 20-foot heights to target their catch of the day. Manatees and Bottle-Nose Dolphins cruise by. You can fish in the surf for local game fish such as Snook, Sheepshead, Whiting, and Tarpon. Beachcombing is heaven for the nature lover, of course, even at night when meteors shower over the dark expanse of the Gulf of Mexico.
ACTIVITIES: With a kitchen to make dining at home simple and convenient, you can choose to relax on the beach for days at a time. Many activities are available within the complex and nearby, as are island grocery shopping, restaurants, and golf. Walkers, bikers, and rollerbladers enjoy a ten-mile bike path that winds along Gulf of Mexico Drive.
If you decide to venture further, you will not want to miss beautiful Sarasota(15 minutes away), where you will find excellent opportunities for cultural, educational, and entertaining activities, including the Ringling Museum, Van Wezel Performing Arts Center, Asolo Theater, Sarasota Ballet and Opera, live theater, live music in many genres, and more. At the south end of Longboat Key is the Mote Marine Aquarium, with fascinating marine exhibits.
Longboat Key has numerous shopping opportunities, Bradenton and Sarasota provide Mall and Outlet shopping, and the beautiful shops of St. Armand’s Key are just one bridge away. Boat charters, scuba diving, snorkeling, and deep-sea fishing are all conveniently available in the Sarasota and Bradenton areas.
You can also make Longboat Key your home-base and travel to many other exciting and popular attractions within a two-hour drive: Walt Disney World, Sea World, and Universal Studios in Orlando, Busch Gardens in Tampa, as well as Sanibel and Captiva Islands.
WEATHER: The average annual rainfall is approximately 55 inches, mostly falling during afternoon rainshowers in the summer. Average daily high temperatures October through December are 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 C.). Highs January through March average 77 F. (25 C.). Highs April through June average 88 F. Why the Owner Chose Casa del Mar
Our parents purchased the family's beautiful place on the beach in the early 1970s after searching for an appealing property on Longboat Key, where we had first vacationed in the 1950s. Our family spent many happy family vacations in various Gulf Coast areas, but Longboat Key was our favorite. We strive to provide our Casa del Mar property with tender loving care, as our parents did. It's a great family resource that we have enjoyed sharing with other vacationing families.
The Unique Benefits of this Condo
Our extended family continues to enjoy introducing successive generations to this wonderful home away from home. Some of us are avid fishermen, some collect shells, some dive into the rich musical opportunities in Sarasota. ALL of us enjoy the natural beauty of our beach and sunsets, and feel refreshed and invigorated by our vacations in this magnificent seashore setting.

We have vacationed at Casa Del Mar several times, and enjoy our stay more every time! We like to cook, and this unit has an open dining and living area that is perfect for family meals! My husband raved about the grill area. There are many grills, and the staff that maintains them are very helpful. We enjoyed walking around the beautifully landscaped grounds. We took many photos of tropical plants and flowers! My children enjoyed the large pool, while I opted to read at the beach. We took our bikes, and REALLY enjoyed biking! We bike on the sidewalk, but there is a dedicated bike lane on the road as well. We look forward to returning to Casa Del Mar sometime, and would highly recommend it to our family and friends that are looking for a vacation rental!

I just wanted to thank you for letting us share in your wonderful vacation home at Casa del Mar. Your condo is fantastic and the Casa del Mar people are great. What a beautiful location. My family had the most wonderful time in Florida. We loved everything about Casa del Mar and Long Boat Key. I think my kids loved the pool the most and I loved that it felt like I was on the beach at the same time my kids were in the pool. My husband loved grilling in the BBQ area and hanging out with all the other dads/security guard – male bonding at its best. It was probably the best family vacation we ever had. We hope to return in the future and were already planning a future trip as we were flying home. Thank you again - we will have great memories from our vacation forever.
