Charm, warmth and nature abound
Charm, warmth and nature abound
My husband and I stayed at this property while attending a weekend retreat at the Omega Institute and thoroughly enjoyed our time in this lovely home. It is nestled in the woods alongside a stream with inner charm that fits perfectly with the surroundings. The owner, Roxana, was wonderful and went out of her way to ensure that our needs were met and that we were well acquainted with the areas' hidden treasures.

Owner response: Jessica, How lovely are you...let me count the ways. Thank you so very much for the Pema Chodron book and your kind words. As you could tell from my library that type of literature appeals to me very much. I'm touched by your thoughtfulness!
Wonderful fall weekend escape
Wonderful fall weekend escape
Our weekend getaway was perfect - the house is charming, comfy and cozy, full of comfortable spots to curl up and read, knit or do nothing. The deck overlooking the woods and stream is lovely and relaxing. We especially appreciated the booklet put together by the owner, giving instructions for where to buy groceries, etc that helped us get settled right away. The booklet also suggested hikes which were awesome and great local restaurants. A lovely spot - we look forward to retuning!

Just What We Needed
We had a very pleasant stay in Red Hook. The house was very clean and comfortable. The back deck with the steam was very relaxing. The owner is very dependable and accommodating. This was one of our favorite rentals so far.

Owner response: You are very kind Jim! I really enjoy sharing the place that gives me so much joy with others that have similar appreciation for what nature provided for this setting. Thank you for being such a gracious guest and taking such good care of my home1
Stayed here over Labor Day weekend. It was lovely and so peaceful! Beautiful, well-maintained house on a quiet street, just two hours outside NYC. Enormous, private deck directly overlooking a creek. The owner responded quickly to all questions and was incredibly accommodating. Already planning my next trip there!

Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: I am a real estate broker in New York City where I live during the week but cherish my weekends and holidays in the Hudson Valley. I discovered the area in the summer of 2004 when I rented a guest house for 3 months but come the fall I missed it so much I decided I needed to have something more permanent up there. I'm always sad leaving but I return to the city re-energized and serene.
Why the Owner Chose Red Hook:
I had seen about 50 houses before I found this one. Being in the business I am very selective. I had driven up from the city that morning and had arrived early, before the listing broker had gotten there. I was so enchanted by the sound of the river and also the layout of the house. I LOVED the large kitchen as I love to cook; the double oven (had 14 people over for Thanksgiving that year) and the fact that it can accommodate a couch. I love having a couch in the kitchen.
The Unique Benefits at this Chateau / Country House:
Lounging on the deck listening to the river is incredibly soothing. Sleeping with the windows open in the summer is magical. I also like being close to the Taconic as I use the house year round and when the snow is heavy, it's nice to get home fairly quickly.
