We bought this house in Aug 2013. The summer of 2014 is our first full summer to offer this house as a vacation rental. This house is a classic Ventura 3 bedroom 2.5 bath 1750 sq ft. beach house. The house is located 50 feet from the sands of Pierpont Beach. It has expansive ocean views from many of the upstairs rooms and balconies. This is the perfect house to spend the week lounging at the beach with your friends and family. This home can accommodate up to 10 people. Two of the upstairs bedrooms can accommodate 3 people. A third bedroom has 2 twin beds. There is a fold out sofa double bed in the living room. Besides the ample porch space from where you can watch the sun go down over the ocean, there is also an inviting enclosed patio in the front yard where you can drink your morning coffee. In the back yard there is an enclosed yard for barbecues and dinners al fresco. Serve family dinners from the completely outfitted kitchen If you don't feel like cooking, there are cute beachy restaurants a short walk away. This would be safe place for young children and pets to play outside in the enclosed yards. There is little to no automobile traffic on this lane which makes it safe for the older kids to get around. The beach starts within steps of the house. This is a house ideal for family vacations, couples retreats, family reunions, reunion with friends, and a general getaway to take some time to breath in the sea air and listen to the ocean's roar. We are located 3 minutes from the 101, one hour from LAX, 30 minutes from Santa Barbara and 10 minutes from downtown Ventura. Within walking distance there are grocery stores and local beachside restaurants. There is a trolley which stops within 2-3 blocks of our house and which carries visitors to downtown Ventura and the Harbor. Channel Islands National Park can be accessed from Ventura Harbor (a short ride from our house). Our beach is a wide, beautiful sandy beach with a few sand drifts. There is surf fishing, surfing, swimming, and good beach walking and birding. While bonfires on the beach are frowned upon by the local government, we have a fire pit in our back yard which can double as a barbecue (we also provide a weber grill). It has it all for the perfect beach vacation.

Beach in Ventura. Our lane is a preferred lane in the Pierpont beach area because it is relatively isolated from traffic. The beach itself is beautiful with dunes and surf and a great location for beach walking, sun bathing, fishing and surfing. Seaward avenue commercial area is close enough to walk and is an old fashion beach boardwalk with shops and cafes for locals and tourists alike. We love Dukes....a classic surfer bar/lunch spot. We are close to the ferries to the Channel Island National Park and whale watching tours and trips to world class kayaking and snorkeling.
Ventura is 60 miles from LAX and 40 miles from Santa Barbara Airport. There are shuttles available from each airport to Ventura.

About the owner: I am a retired professional who has lived in Santa Barbara since 1996. Since retirement, I have been involved in improving and renting out our various properties. This is my second vacation home rental. We have had such nice experiences renting out our mountain home over the last 3 years (in Oakhurst, CA) that, when the Ventura home became available, we could see great potential. We liked the idea that the house was so close to our home that we could be close at hand for anything that might arise to help our guests.
Why the Owner Chose Ventura: I had been looking for beach property in Ventura since discovering the Ventura lanes. The area is a sleepy old fashioned beach neighborhood with all the amenities needed to hunker down to a real beach vacation yet close to Ventura, LA, and my home in Santa Barbara. When I found this house in the summer of 2013 (I had been looking for 2-3 years), it was love at first site....close to the sand, well maintained, plus ocean views from several spots. I have enjoyed decorating and furnishing the house and look forward to further opportunities to add my own mark on the house. The house has been a long term rental from September 2013 to MAY 31 2014. We will be refreshing the house and will be offering the house again as a vacation rental starting June 2014.
The Unique Benefits at this House: Our house is unique to the Pierpont Lanes area in that, though it is a relatively large house, it also has a large fenced in back yard suitable for outside gatherings (complete with fire pit and gas barbecue). Also charming is the fenced front patio. We are close enough to the ocean to enjoy the sound of the waves and ocean breezes in addition to ocean and mountain views from most rooms. The inside is light and airy thanks to an open atrium (staircase) where light streams into the house from several skylights. The windows are set up to provide cross breezes from the ocean as well as more light. The kitchen is large and well configured and is a comfortable place to cook.
