For Ironman triathletes & spectators this condo is 1 mile from the race start. The bike course is in your 'backyard' on Kuakini and the 'front yard' is ON THE RUN COURSE. It is 400 yrds from the Ironman Expo and is immediately next door to the famous Lava Java cafe. This is a perfect place for spectators to use as a home base and shelter during the long race day.
Breathtaking engineered tiger wood flooring is the medium for the master bedroom, dining and living room. The kitchen and foyer(entrance) is stunning black slate with a matching back splash in the kitchen which sits upon a beautiful granite counter top and eating bar. Over the eating bar hangs two hand-blown Italian pendants with matching tile within the back splash. Cabinets are custom designed maple with decorative black crown molding and added detailing with black metal hardware. The kitchen appliances are Whirlpool Gold and add to the functional beauty of this kitchen. The dining area features a large table that can seat 6 and is expandable to 8 should you choose to entertain. The living room is fully equipped with a large 55 inch flat screen LG LED TV, basic cable programming, Apple TV and a DVD player. In 2012 we added a beautiful Murphy Bed unit that folds down easily without having to move the sofa in front of it. It opens up to a queen sized bed with comfortable firm mattress, not a sofa bed mattress. On either side of the murphy bed you will find matching armoires complete with rods, shelves and drawers and slide-away nightstands. This addition has made a comfortable solution to accommodate an additional couple of guests and their belongings, making the living room comfortable, relaxing and versatile. (Sometimes we choose the living room as our room, using the armoires and all, so when our young kids go to bed or nap in the bedroom, we are free to use the common space without disturbing them, then convert it into our sleep area, listening to the crashing waves as we drift off to sleep.) The application on the ceiling is a burnished tri-venetian plaster and adds to the elegance of the unit! The master bedroom continues with the fine ceiling and flooring detailing with cherry wood cabinetry setting off the ensuite bathroom and a clear glass vessel sink beautifully perched on glistening granite adding to its elegance.
The main bath has a clear glass shower enclosure surrounding its decorative slate tiling. The cabinetry is maple and also has a mounted white porcelain vessel sink on lovely granite as well. It is there you will find the new (2012) front loading high efficiency washer and dryer for your convenience.
Enjoy the beautiful Pacific and ocean breeze off the large lanai while you watch Ali'i Drive activity, dolphins playing, Ironman triathletes running (it's right ON the run course!) outriggers passing by all while listening to the tranquil rhythms of the ocean.

About the owner: We were born and raised in coastal Orange County, CA, where we currently reside with our two young children. Our family has native Hawaiian roots and we have come to love the Big Island through Ironman Competition and training. Chad has completed 9 Ironman qualifiers that earned him slots at 7 Hawaii Ironman World Championships between 2004-2012, for a total of 16 Ironmans with average finishing times of 9 hours and 40 minutes. Our family loves all things Hawaii and Ironman!
Why the Owner Chose Kona Alii: With native hawaiian ancestors on one side and a 7-time Hawaii Ironman competitor and finisher on the other, it only made sense to land our family's vacation home in Kona.
Kona Alii is the PERFECT place to stay in Kona Town! It's in the middle of it all, but is still oceanfront & quiet It has the amenities of a larger complex (pool, BBQ, security/privacy gates, private parking) yet it's quiet, owner occupied and very well maintained.
Our unit sits off of busy Alii drive yet you can still enjoy the ocean views and ocean breeze, without the noise of traffic. Our unit was completely gutted and remodeled in 2009 with brand new EVERYTHING. We took ownership in 2011 for our personal use and decided to share our piece of paradise for others to enjoy by listing it as a vacation rental in 2013.
