Cycling is unsurpassed. A labyrinth of scenic, seldom traveled country roads lie just out our ranch drive.
Stargazing is a 'MUST DO' at Quiet Hill Ranch. The 2100' elev & no light or air pollution encourages one to pause & ponder the greatness of creation & increase (or introduce one to) the Magnificence of The Creator.
Massages from Linda, our licensed therapist, is another 'MUST DO'. Let her knead out those city knots in a courteous & professional manner…She's Tops!!!
Quiet Hill opens 60 scenic acres (part of a 1500 acre family ranch) for our guests to enjoy.
Nature beckons one to enjoy it in every season of the year…
NPR radio said our area has the most livable year round climate in the U.S. (We've said it for years:)
As you probably have seen by now, Quiet Hill Ranch is NOT your typical vacation rental destination.
Cindy & Jim are pleased to open our ranch's treasure chest of nature & amenities to encourage folks to relax, make some great memories, & strengthen the ties that bind…Y'all come!

Great Place for Birding
Great Place for Birding
We spent two nights at Quiet Hill Ranch and are very happy with our experience from the time we made the reservation. Jim was very responsive, gave us all the information before we arrived. The property is beautiful, just what you would expect in the hill country. It is not as remote as people think, we didn't bring any grocery as Fredericksburg town is only 25 minutes away. The cabin is rustic but comfortable, well fitted for a country experience. The main reason we chose this place is because we like birding. Jim has a bird blind which you can comfortably set up cameras and capture great photos of birds like painted buntings and cardinals. Would recommend this place for a Texas country experience and Birding enthusiasts.

Owner response: Thank you for your review!!! We appreciate the fact it takes a lot of faith to reserve a place 2000 miles from home... Glad we didn't disappoint your birding & photo expectations. I very much enjoyed rubbing shoulders with such well traveled & knowledgable sojourners. I always pick up some useful info. Once again, Thank You & Happy Birding:)
Another great stay!!
Another great stay!!
This was our sixth consecutive year at Quiet Hill Ranch and every stay seems to get better. Our main reason for choosing the Ranch is to photograph the birds from the observatory where the birds are just a few feet in front of the blind but the Ranch is such a wonderful place even if your interests are not photographic. The Hill Country is spectacular and so peaceful especially at Quiet Hill. The cabins have everything we need and have wonderful views over the surrounding hills. Cindy and Jim treat us as friends rather than guests and do everything possible to make our stay perfect and we are alreay planning our return trip for next year. It is a long way from our home but worth the journey.

Owner response: Mary & Dave...It is so good to hear from y'all (vicariously) via VRBO. Thank you so much for taking the time to share with others some of your thoughts of Quiet Hill. Hope all is well across 'Tha Pond' in far East Texas (aka London:) Cindy & I always look forward to your visit as the highlight of our Quiet Hill Ranch birding year. It's so good for us to have so much birding wisdom brought to us by y'all. Blessings to you both from all us 'Quiet Hill Ranch Critters' & thanks again for the review.
"When can we go back?"
"When can we go back?"
That's what our kids (9 and 13) wanted to know before we'd even gotten home from Quiet Hill Ranch. It was exactly the low-tech, unplugged getaway we needed. We loved the wildlife, the livestock, the pool, the trail ride led by Jim, the freedom to cook whatever suited us whenever it suited us, the trails, the quiet, the puzzles in the lodge, time spent just sitting and reflecting on the porch, and on and on and on. The answer to the question above: "Not soon enough!"

Owner response: Well...I guess 'out of the mouths of babes' has said it all...again. We appreciate the kind words of encouragement. It's not sooo very far for you to take the children's advice and 'Y'all come on back now...Ya Hear!!!
Enchanting Weekend in the Beautiful Texas Hill Country
Enchanting Weekend in the Beautiful Texas Hill Country
My daughter and I had a wonderful stay at this charming little ranch. We were looking for a quiet place away from the city to get some fresh air and a chance to see a star lit sky. The cabin was clean and well appointed and the view was spectacular. We enjoyed collecting fresh eggs from the chicken coop and cooking them up in the kitchen of the lodge. Delicious! Everything at the property was just as described and even exceeded our expectations. Our most pleasant surprise was how much we enjoyed the wildlife observatory. The Whatley's have created a little bird sanctuary that attracts a wide variety of birds for close viewing. My daughter and I gained a new appreciation for bird watching! We also enjoyed visiting Fredricksburg, TX which was a short drive away. I highly recommend this property for a quiet getaway for couples or families.

About the owner: Cindy & Jim opened their beautiful ranch to guests in 1995. The purpose statement was 'To have a place where families could come, make some good memories, and thereby strengthen the family bonds'. Quiet Hill Ranch has resoundingly succeeded in fulfilling that purpose statement.
Why the Owner Chose Fredericksburg:
Cindy's grandfather put together 1500 acres in the early 30's & it still remains in the family's hands. Quiet Hill opens 60 acres of the ranch for guests to enjoy.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The peace found at Quiet Hill Ranch deafens the crass and boisterous world outside. There are ample opportunities to explore the area...But then to return to the silence and solitude of Quiet Hill is truly therapeutic.
