We attended the wedding of the daughter of our friends who live on Kiawah Island. They recommended Akers Ellis and we are very glad they did. The 2 bedroom condo was convenient, quite large, efficiently laid out and very comfortable. The only negative was a short power failure between 3:00am and 4:00am during a thunderstorm on our first night. The repairs were made quickly. I would definitely consider coming back again in the future.

This was our 7th time renting on Kiawah. This unit was the best one yet - fully equiped, newly updated kitchen, comfortable beds, great location to beach. The sitting room was very nice - very comfortable furnishings throughout. Our only problem was getting in and out of shower/tub unit in the master suite. The glass doors didn't line up with the step going into tub. Other than that I do recommend this rental.

More spacious than the pictures appeared, which gave our 2yr old room to spread out her toys without it being cluttered. Kitchen had all of the utensils and containers we needed. Really enjoyed the covered porch and the washer/dryer in the condo. Very conveniently located. Less than 5 minute walk to beach, 2 minute bike ride to the Market and Sanctuary, and 8-10 min bike ride to the pool. Called the bike service and the bikes were delivered to the door while we were at the beach, $100 for week rental with 2 bikes and a babyseat. For the amenities on the island: Eating out: The Market was very good and very helpful staff. Stay away from Shrimper's; food was terrible. Jasmine Porch at the Sanctuary was excellent but a splurge, about $200 with a bottle of wine. At Freshfields, just off the island, Newton Farms grocery store is like a Whole Foods. A bit higher end, but convenient and the take home food was very good (particularly the crab cakes). The King Street Grille was kid-friendly, but was mediocre food and service wise. Golf: Kiawah is very proud of their golf. Mid-week Ocean course was $295, island courses $175, and Oak Point was $100. $60 for rental clubs, ouch. Spa: Excellent spa at the Sanctuary, but pricey. The spring time facial was excellent and very relaxing, a very nice facial and hand massage with the facial. Wildlife: Do pay attention to the "Danger Alligator" signs. Most of the gators we saw were very small, but we did encounter a 15' gator!!! Night Heron Park: The kids playground was great for our 2 year old and the pool was very nice. They do have floatey toys you can rent for the kids at about $4/each. Main pool was heated, but not the kiddie pool. Beach: great beach to bike on; umbrella and chair rentals are very expensive, so bring your own. The bike trails on the island were great and very scenic; recommend biking out to Eagle Point and Marsh Island Park. We biked down to Beachwalkers Park and as the high tide came in, the dolphins were coming up the river to eat.

We hope that you will enjoy our Villa on Kiawah. We first visited Kiawah in August 2003 and immediately fell in love with the Island. We visited several times over the next year and, in August 2004, we knew we'd found our place in the sun. Everything about the Island called out to us--and then we found our Villa and, well, the rest, as they say, is history. Recently renovated, it is one of only a handful of villas on the Island to be awarded "premier" status by Kiawah Island Resort. Once you step through the doorway, you'll see why. Greeted by hardwood floors, ceramic tile, soft pastels and luxurious furnishings, the villa is unlike any you've ever seen--or stayed in--before. Give it a try--we think you'll want to come back again and again! The Shor Family
