Melinda made the reservation process clear & simple ; she demonstrated real follow-through and flexibility. Additionally, the family's thoughtfulness was evident throughout the cottage. We enjoyed how clean the cottage was and how many thoughtful details had been arranged--incl. a mosquito shield net @ the door and a small laundry drying rack--in case of rain. The location afforded us a chance to explore Georgetown in greater depth than we had in earlier years. The pass for Reid State Park was esp. helpful--what a lovely place that is. We were delighted to see the various books highlighting possibilities along the coast--and inland, too. Far too muah do actually accomplish this September. We appreciated the recommendation to try Gray Haven Inn's restaurant, The Blue. Delicious. As ever, Robinhood Free Mtng House provided a special treat dinner. Those cream cheese biscuits: wow. And the folks @ the Georgetown Country store were friendly and helpful--good coffee, too! Of course, the Georgetown Lobstermen's Co-op provides the freshest seafood possible. Baskets of lobsters were off-loaded from the boat as we waited. Plus, Annabelle's ice cream there on the wharf is perfection plus. Try some. Most of all we enjoyed just sitting on the deck watching the fog descend & rise, noting the lobster boats coming & going, observing the industrious chipmunks & various birds passing through--just plain fun. If you want to be closer to townlife this might not be your spot, but if you love seacoast granite, observing wildlife & seabirds, ever-changing seawater and a bit of marvelous alone time, this is just perfect.

We had an awesome time at this cottage in Georgetown! It is just as advertised and really comfortable. Georgetown is very quiet over labor day and the Reid State Park pass is a huge bene of this rental! It was also great to be able to rent for a couple nights rather than only a whole week. We hope to come back in the future for a whole week!

"Wonderful fall getaway" My sister and I chose Georgetown to be near the haunts we frequented 50-60 years ago as children during summers in Maine and to be on the water rathr than a daytrip away as we were as kids. Our trip met all our expectations and introduced us to much more. This well-equipped cottage on the Little Sheepscot tidal estuary overlooks the comings and goings of working lobster boats. It is a picture-perfect view best enjoyed by breakfast and dinner on the expansive deck. The cottage is privately situated at the end of a long winding new blacktop through dense woods ending in the spectacular waterfront. We had everything we needed to cook in, and there were wonderful places to eat out within a few miles--the Georgetown Warf and the Osprey. Late September was an ideal time to visit this year. It was warm--in the 70s--most days, leaves were just barely beginning to turn, and it was even warm enough to wade in the ocean at Reid State Park, a favorite from our childhood summers. The free pass provided with the cottage made that easier. The beds are very comfortable and the comforters provided make nights cozy. The stairway to the 2nd floor bedrooms is long and steep, but there is a big bedroom on the 1st floor. Besides some of the obvious places to visit in the region, we recommend Halcyon Yarns, a big but warm and friendly wholesale and retail yarn store in Bath. (We visited 3 times in a week.)BBC was there one day we were there to film a piece on the business owner who encourages employees to bring their young children to work. The Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, located in several beautifully restored or renovated buildings downtown, had a fascinating exhibit on andrew Wyeth's famous painting, Christina's World. There were preliminary sketches and paintings made elsewhere on Christina's farm as well as lots of information about back story of the painting. Alas the painting itself was not there.

We were excited, and happy to be able to return this year. Our last stay seemed so short, and as it turns out, this year's stay felt the same. Fantastic location for Privacy, relaxation, for "winding" down from the Hectic norm. Great weather, only one day of rain, but plenty to do in Bath/Wiscasset area on a rainy day. A notable 'change' since our last stay-Being greeted in the Morning by a Chipmunk we named "Dale" on the deck for breakfast! "Dale" likes Peanuts, Sunflower seeds, and Bread/rolls, and is the friendliest Chipmunk we've ever seen. He'll eat right out of your hand once he get's comfortable! Note: Nighttime on the Dock is one of the most Peaceful, and relaxing places I've found to sit and "zone". Thanks, we'll be looking to schedule another trip back next year.

If you are looking for a place to really have some together time, this is perfect! The cottage is small with no tv and very limited internet access, so our usually distracted teenagers were forced to interact with the family - exactly what we wanted! And there is plenty to do - kayaking was a blast, crabbing, fishing, Reid park is beautiful and a short drive away. If it rains, the cottage is full of games and puzzles and Freeport and Portland are only about 35-45 minutes away. We had a wonderful vacation and loved the location of this property!

"Great cabin with great waterfront views. Beds are extremely comfortable. Fire pit is awesome. Like the availability of 2 kayaks. Wonderful place for a get away. Nothing nearby so if you like shopping, restaurants etc this is not for you. It's more like camping 'luxury' style!" Tip: "Enjoy Fresh Mussels. Pick the mussels at low tide on the shores of MacMahon Island!!" Best thing about this rental: "locations and beds"

"Relaxing trip to Maine" "We enjoyed our vacation at this Maine cottage. I found the location to be far from the main roads. We took a few day trips to see other parts of Maine and just to get to a major road was a 25-30 minute ride. The house was small but everything you need is there. We really enjoyed the outside of this home. It is a beautiful view from the house. My children enjoyed kayaking and playing outside. They tried fishing from the dock but didn't catch any fish. Overall the house is a true get away from it all, very relaxing." -from our FlipKey guest book

Our family had an absolutely fabulous time staying at Mussel Cove. We have two boys, eight and three, and having plenty of room for them to play helped make our visit a real success. Most mornings we would let the boys run around outside while we had coffee and tea. They blew bubbles on the deck, played on the swings, and otherwise entertained themselves while we relaxed. We'd then head off to Reid State Park (only a couple of miles down the road, and the park pass comes with the cottage). The beaches are beautiful in this part of Maine, one of the reasons we chose this cottage. In the afternoon while our younger boy napped we would fish off the dock, or play games in the living room; there was a good selection of board games, including Scrabble, which our eight-year-old loved. In the evenings we would cook in the well- organized kitchen, and then sit out by the deck and cook marshmallows over the firepit; or we would go out for seafood and an ice cream dessert. All in all, we had a great time! We'll certainly be back again someday.

We had a wonderful week in Georgetown at your cottage! Lost the first day to rain, but the rest of the week made up for it with abundant sunshine & comfortable temperatures. The cove was perfect - lobster boats, passing sailboats, and beautiful sunrises. Even a morning fog was breathtaking. Thanks for the use of your kayaks and the great dock for our boat. The fishing was challenging, but rewarding - the Five Islands Lobster Co. was delicious - lobsters were sweet. Only complaint was the green head flies, but they are to be expected at the end of July. The bed was ultra comfortable!! Thanks again!!

"We so enjoyed our brief stay here - didn't want to go! The view (framed by the sliders, nice touch!) is just gourgeous. so peaceful. Just what we needed!....The card for Reid is nice to have - and the added touch of your sand chairs, umbrellas, and beach toys was ideal...you've thought of everything. Thanks for a great stay."

"Enjoyed the peacefulness of the ocean. Enjoyed Reid State Park, Mama D's, Five Island Lobster Co. The girls especially enjoyed Cold Stone Creamery. Walked the shops in Historical Bath (get there by 5pm everything closes at that time). Fished - best time as tide is coming in. Crabbed - catch n' release. Enjoyed the dock & decks & the many deer! Thanks."

"We had a very restful time at this lovely cottage. We enjoyed watching the lobster boats, sail boats, and water taxi going about their daily tasks. Kayaking was fun and gave us a different view of the cottage and the cove. A red squirrel romped in the trees, and a chipmunk came upon the porch, looking for scraps to eat. The raspberries were ripe and delicious. Thank you for a wonderful vacation." Owner's note: The chipmunk seems to enjoy the raspberries as much as we do! Pick them quickly...

We had been travelling with 2 children and my father for 6 weeks when we arrived at this little peace of paradise. We had a wonderful time, not only was the place spotless and beautifully decorated but the ambience ensured a very relaxing stay. We paddled the kyacks up and spent time with the seals, purchased lobsters from the locals and cooked them up with the pot provided and spent money in Freeport!! I would recommend this place to anyway who wants to relax and enjoy the company of friends and family. Thankyou. Also we booked this accommodation via the internet from Australia - we had no problems with both the accommodation and our hosts.

"The week in Maine was very rainy but very enjoyable none the less. The Lobsta was sweet, the antique shops were filled with great things, your place was very relaxing, Maritime Museum in Bath was extremely interesting, Robinhood Free Meetinghouse was tasty, Boothbay Harbor was charming, had the best Reuben of my life at the German restaurant in Brunswick, people were friendly, Reid State Park was beautiful, etc... I'd like to rent your place another time and take out the kayaks, have dinner on your dock and enjoy the scenery when it's not rainy and wet"

"Just a quick note to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at your home in Georgetown. Must admit it was fun trying to find it a 10.00pm at night, but we got there in the end. We had a very enjoyable stay and visited a few places locally, Bar Harbor, Freeport, Boothsbay and of course Reid State Park amongst others. even managed to get my wife into one of the canoes, which was fun...." "Thanks again for the opportunity to rent your cabin - we had a great time. We saw lots of deer this year, which is the first time I've ever seen a deer in Maine - and I've been going up my whole life! My husband and 5-year old son also saw the raccoons - one of them came right up to the sliding glass door and watched my son watching him!"
