Our primary reason for renting the house was our son's graduation from Marine Corp boot camp. While the view was spectacular and the time my family and I had was amazing, this home left a lot to be desired. There was food in the oven from the previous renters, dirty handprints on the bedroom walls, dead bugs behind furniture, and the sleeper sofa had food inside. There were broken chairs and toys under the deck. Fripp Island is a gorgeous location and I would love to come back, but I definitely would find another house.

AWESOME...just one word to descibe the wonderful time had by my family. The little ones loved being able to all be together in one room. They had a blast and the memories will last forever. It was great to see the guys all dressed in the golf clothes (they are not golfers). I will have to send photos. We are going to put up a special small Christmas tree for all of the sand dollars collected in addition to our traditional tree. Would like to stay again just for a girls week only. Can't wait for the next vacation..it will certainly be another to be remembered!

We have been staying in Berta's beach homes on Fripp Island for nine years now. We absolutely love the location of this home (Sandcastle). It is quiet and on a beautiful section of the island. This home is well maintained and comfortable for a large family with plenty of parking and outdoor space. It is like home away from home for us every year. It is also a pleasure working with Berta on the rental arrangements.

Recommended for:Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

We had a great time at Sand Castle. The view was absolutely beautiful and it was a great house for family and kids. My boys stayed upstairs and it was perfect. Thank you for letting us stay at your beautiful house - it was an absolutely perfect vacation!

Berta, We just arrived home from Fripp,thank you so much for allowing us to rent "Bikini Bottom" this year. We were very happy with everything and are already making plans for next year. The following comment is copied from a letter sent by email to the home owner:Feb. 22, 2006Dear Berta,How can I begin to tell you how very much we enjoyed our week at Fripp Island at 396 Tarpon Blvd.?I guess the best way is to tell you what a wonderful house it is. We’ve been renting beachfront properties for some 20 years, most of them at Fripp, but a few times at Corolla on the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Of all the houses we’ve been in, this one is the best.The view out of all the windows in the front of the house is magnificent. The deck is great, the kitchen, with that ocean view is wonderful. I just can’t use enough superlatives to describe it.The weather was excellent, a little cool during the first of the week, but since we came prepared, with down jackets, etc. it didn’t bother us a bit. But, sun everyday? You couldn’t ask for more.Where did you get that showerhead in the master bathroom? Fantastic!We never used the golf cart, but we did use that great grill and the fireplace.I could just go on and on, but, needless to say, we were very satisfied.Have you ever given any thought to renting the house for a month this time of year? We loved Fripp and staying in this wonderful house. Rob caught some beautiful red fish and we enjoyed them on our last night. Marsha What a glorious beach and island. We had a wonderful time. The house is well equipped with everything to have a relaxing vacation. During our stay we saw a newborn dear learning to walk off the back deck, hundreds of starfish and tons of sand dollars. The blue crabs were plentiful to catch off the island dock or you could just walk the beach at low tide and collect them from the tidal pools. We had a wonderful week at your lovely home. It is so comfortable. The waves lulled us to sleep every night. We were here for my daughter's wedding which turned out to be beautiful. My grandsons loved riding in the golf cart to see the deer every afternoon. It was so quiet and peaceful here and the house is so perfect for a family. The boys loved their upstairs befroom with the sail boats. The house was the perfect place to host a wedding reception and accomodated 25 people comfortabley. It was perfect week! We had a wonderful time. We ended up with great weather, lots of nature and no crowds. Ophelia ended up passing us by only giving a high surf and no rain. Once she was past we had a beach again. We saw a new born deer off the back porch learning to walk, lots of gators, tons of sanddollars and starfish, a blue crab molting, raccoons and lots of herons and pelicans. Everywhere we went on the island was quiet and peaceful. We didn't catch tons of fish but the bluecrabs were very plentiful. The guys also had a great time at the oyster roast. We had a great week here at Fripp and are sad to see it coming to a close. My family came with the Christophels from the previous page and we really enjoyed our stay together. Nice rooms an d gret veiws. The deck was perfect for tanning. This week's weather was also enjoyable. What a perfect way to spend the first part of our summer. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Everything was absolutely wonderful. Even the weather cooperated with us.
