Why the Owner Chose Islands at Mauna Lani
Janet and I both grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area but have long loved Hawaii. When we first discovered the Big Island in the early 1990's, we found that within the Hawaiian paradise, this was a very special place. We starting visiting the Kohala Coast on a regular basis and fell in love with the Mauna Lani Resort in particular. Close to the activities of Waikoloa and the hometown feel of Kamuela/Waimea up the hill, we found Mauna Lani quiet, elegant, and spectacularly beautiful. The Islands at Mauna Lani, the complex in which our condo is located was built with luxury and privacy in mind, with spacious and logical floor plans, the most spacious bathrooms we've ever seen, and a quality of workmanship that was intended for executive homes, the original market for this project. We immediately fell in love with our unit in particular as it has a breathtaking view of the golf course, water element,and the Kohala Mountains. In it we found beauty, privacy and peace.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome
We enjoy relaxing in the luxury and spaciousness of our unit, together with its gorgeous vista. We use the access we (and our guests) enjoy to the gated Mauna Lani Beach Club which offers a beautiful protected beach and a great outdoor restaurant (with the best pina colada smoothies I've had!). The Mauna Lani spa and tennis club is a short walk, as are the new Mauna Lani shops. We enjoy taking guests onto the Mauna Lani golf courses, the South Course offers the signature ocean hole while the slightly more challening North Course passes through our backyard!

This condo is a great place to stay! The location is great, the layout of the unit is excellent and the owners are fantastic to deal with! I would definitely recommend staying here...as evidenced by our return this unit almost annually.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Thank you very much for allowing us to stay at your lovely condo. We have had a wonderful (and educational) time here this week, and wish we didn't have to return home so soon! Perhaps we can arrange a longer stay next time... Thank you also for leaving the beach "toys" in the garage. We have added a couple of beach chairs to your collection (I hope that's ok), and look forward to the next time we can sit in them while watching the sunset on beautiful Hapuna Beach!

I wanted to send you a quick note after our stay to tell you what a delightful surprise it was to find your home so well appointed. Thank you for sharing the boogie boards and having a booster seat available-- items we definitely did not anticipate and thoroughly enjoyed. The unit was immaculate, we had amazing service and it felt as if we were the only guests in the entire compound. Thank you for opening your home to us. I will definitely recommend it to others.

Summer 2010, second stay at the Islands at Mauna Lani. Plenty of room for everyone, 6 adults, 1 child. Quick and easy access to the beach, shops, food. The villa itself is comfortable and well maintained. Wonderful landscaping and plenty of wildlife: goats, marmosets, geckos, and BIRDS of several species. We will return.
Recommended for:Age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children.
