Casa de Luz ("House of Light") has views, location, peaceful & sunny surroundings, privacy, & two private bedroom suites to make this very comfortable 1400 square feet one-level home situated on over 1-1/3 acre the perfect getaway for couples, families, & friends.

Casa de Luz is nestled in sunny meadows a short distance from the Town of Taos & below Taos Ski Valley with panoramic views of Taos Mountain & the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. You will enjoy a location convenient to both the Town of Taos & Taos Ski Valley while staying in a home adorned with works by local artists & with the relaxed feel of Old Taos yet all the comforts of modern living.

INSIDE: A fully furnished spacious open living, dining, breakfast bar, & kitchen area is highlighted by its many large windows for mountain views, brick flooring with comfortable radiant heat, high ceilings graced by beautiful unpeeled vigas & recessed lighting, a cozy free-standing gas log stove, a surround sound stereo system with speakers in all main rooms, & a small alcove with desk and Internet, including DSL and WIFI.

LIVING AREA AND KITCHEN: The sun-filled living area, open to the dining & kitchen areas, is comfortably furnished, including a sofa with a hideaway double bed for extra guests & a Spanish trastero with satellite TV(with digital video recorder) wired through stereo speakers in all main rooms, DVD/VCR, & full stereo system. The fully-furnished modern kitchen has ceramic-tiled countertops & hand-carved cabinetry, & is fully equipped with attractive dishware, silverware, & glassware & modern appliances, including microwave, crockpot, blender, food processor, steamer, coffee pot, coffee grinder, & more.

BED AND BATH: Each bedroom suite has its own radiant floor heating system, mountain views, a queen-size bed with electric blanket or down comforter for extra warmth, phone, & private entrance to the covered portal where the hot tub is located. The master suite has its own satellite TV. Each bathroom, one with a bathtub/shower & one with a shower, is furnished with a hairdryer & has hand-carved cabinetry, ceramic-tiled vanities, talavera sinks, & brass fixtures.

  • My wife and I had a fantastic stay in June 2009. It is a great place to get away and relax. Summertime is a great time for hiking and whitewater rafting (some of the best whitewater rafting in the country). Good restaurants and shopping are also just a few minutes down the road. Thanks!

  • My wife and I stayed in this house for a week in mid-October 2009. The house is ideally located in the sagebrush north of town. It is perhaps five minutes from the plaza and fifteen minutes, or less, from TSV. Though there are other houses nearby it is in a quiet location - I saw only a few people all week. There are great views to the mountains from several rooms - stunning sunrises and sunsets. There are many windows in the house and great light throughout. We did not use it very often but the large kitchen looked well equipped. There is a dining table that will, I think, seat six. A washer and dryer are also present. The house has fast wifi. Both bedrooms are nicely sized as are the bathrooms. There were more than enough towels, etc. The beds are not kings but they are comfortable and of nice size. The living room has a couple of chairs and I think a sleeper sofa though we never pulled it out to check. There is a small television with a DVD player in the living room and another TV in one of the bedrooms, both with satellite service. There is also a sound system which we did not use. There is a large backyard with a grill. The house has a small private side yard, off the bedrooms, with a nice hot tub which we used almost every evening. There are beautiful views of the night sky from the hot tub. The house was clean. The owner was easy to get in touch with and very helpful. Check in and check out are "self serve" as are most properties on VRBO and was easy. A pager number is provided for a local property manager in case of any problems but we had no occasion to use it. We had a great low-key week in Taos staying at this house and plan on staying here again the next time we are in the area.

  • This was our first visit to Casa Del Luz but certainly not the last! Casa del Luz is the perfect home for a comfortable and peaceful get away plus the views from the hot tub are nothing short of spectacular. I also have to add how wonderful the property owners are. We left some items in the home on our departure that I assumed would be gone forever. Instead, the owners really went over and above to see that they were returned to me. Thank you so much! I can't wait for our next visit.
