Charming!

I stayed here with my husband, daughter, and our small dog for a long weekend. The house is lovely and comfortable with lots of charming touches and the setting is magical. The owner was very easy to communicate with and provided excellent restaurant recommendations and other Taos observations we found very helpful. We will definitely stay here again.

Perfect!

Guest: Tom (Wayne, PA)
Date of Stay: 03/06/12 Review Submitted: 03/16/12

Casa de Luz was the perfect getaway. The fenced in yard gave our two toddlers a safe place to play, and it was very convenient to Taos Ski Valley where we skied each day. We could see the full moon from the hot tub which was an added benefit. The house was bigger than we thought, and the kitchen was huge and included every convenience we needed. We didn't get a chance to use the grill, but the outside patio is a great place to relax after a long day of spring skiing. The house was just amazing, and the owner was a delight to deal with. We can't wait to come back.

review of Taos #48513

Guest: Janis (Winnebago,IL)
Date of Stay: 02/16/12 Review Submitted: 02/21/12

Our stay at Casa De Luz was wonderful, the home was immaculate upon our arrival and the owner added many special touches ( wine, toiletries, welcome letter with detailed description of local restaurants and sight seeing) that made our stay so memorable. We would definetly recommend this home and would happily return if we travel back to beautiful Taos.

Had a quick three-day stay in the area to ski with my wife and son. Casa is conveniently located between Taos ski slopes and downtown Taos. Spectacular views of the mountains from the enclosed backyard and hot tub. Comfortably decorated. Very welcoming owners.

Should be the model for all VRBO rentals

Guest: Mutt99 (Boulder, CO)
Date of Stay: 11/23/11 Review Submitted: 11/27/11

This was our second Thanksgiving week-end, in two years, at Casa de Luz. The house is beautiful and exactly as represented in the ad. It is spotlessly clean and well cared with high quality furnishings, bedding and art. It is in a great location, about a 10 minute drive from the Taos plaza, in a peaceful and serence setting. We have been using VRBO for several years and have found some properties to be not even close to what was advertised. I realize that you pay your money and take your chances but with Casa de Luz you can't go wrong. Sharon is a delight to work with and very accomodating. The house is dog friendly but even if you don't have canine pals, you'll be happy here. Yes, I highly recommend Casa de Luz and no, Sharon is not one of my relatives!

Perfect!

Guest: Jen D (Albuquerque, New Mexico)
Date of Stay: 09/15/11 Review Submitted: 09/22/11

This is a perfect place with a super owner. We had rented another place which we discovered, upon our arrival in Taos, was not at all suitable. We submitted a late afternoon inquiry about this property for lodging the same night. The owner promptly responded to our inquiry and arranged for the caretaker to get the property ready for us in just a few hours. She called back the next day to make sure everything was okay. The place is beautiful. The pictures do not do it justice. The beds are comfortable and the hot tub is lovely and very private. The stereo system is great and is set up to operate through an iPod. The kitchen is well appoined. All of the bathrooms are stocked with plenty of towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotion. The bedrooms are separated by a courtyard to provide privacy to the parties in each room. The place is sunny and private but at the same time a very short drive to groceries and restaurants. We loved soaking in the hot tub, driving the enchanted circle, hiking the gorge trail, and eating breakfast burritos at the Taos Diner. We recommend Casa De Luz without reservation.

Quiet and Private Retreat Near Taos

Guest: Cynthia (Long Beach, CA)
Date of Stay: 08/04/11 Review Submitted: 08/08/11

If you're looking for serenity, privacy, quiet, and a gorgeous rural setting not far from Taos, New Mexico, Casa de Luz is the house you've been looking for. The home is beautifully maintained, clean, comfortable, and has every amenity. A few miles away, explore the town of Taos with its many galleries, cafes, and shops. Enjoy the majestic scenic loop drive through the moutains and nearby national forests. Don't miss the Taos Pueblo. Sharon, our host, gave us wonderful and personalized suggestions to help us to enjoy our stay and is a gracious and kind host.

Guest: Elizabeth (Crusius)

My husband, daughter and I visited in July and Casa de Luz was a wonderful place to stay. It was close enough to Taos but far enough away to enjoy the quiet and peacefulness of teh surrounding mountains. The house is lovely and quite spacious. Sharon was the perfect hostess - leaving a bottle of wine, crackers and cheese for us. The hot tub was great in the evening. We'll definitely want to return.

A little slice of heaven..........

Date of Stay: 05/27/11 Review Submitted: 06/01/11

This property is perfect if you want to be close-in to Taos, yet maintain privacy. It has gorgeous mountain views and the starzzz at night are unbelieveable! We've never seen so many - it was almost magical. The owner was extremely easy to work with and very accommodating. We decided on a very last minute anniversary trip and wanted privacy and a hot tub. We got that and more! Numerous books, games, spices, coffee, popcorn, wine, cheese, dark chocolates in almost every room. Night lights in the bathrooms (especially helpful the first night in a strange place), kleenix, large size shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The house is flooded with natural light - no need for additional lighting, except at night. Oh, and candles too! Our visit was too early in the year to see the perennials in bloom. :( But there were 2 beautiful red flower baskets hanging near the hot tub. I could go on and on, but you really need to see this property for yourself. I can guarantee you won't be disappointed. Just pack your clothes and food if you feel like cooking in. We had a marvelous breakfast at Michael's. We golfed one day, hiked up to Williams Lake another (but had to turn around due to the snow). There are many more activities in the area - we could have spent a month in this location, but things like work interfer. We hope to visit again real soon. Oh, one last item to mention, this home would be perfect for two couples as both bedrooms/baths are on opposite sides of the house to ensure complete privacy. Thanks SO much Sharon and Alfred for thinking of every little detail. You made our 34th anniversary trip very special. :)

Great Winter getaway

Guest: Jeff and Julie (Ada, Oklahoma)

This was our second winter visit to Casa De Luz. Both Sharon and Alfred are very accomodating and available to answer questions and provide suggestions about activities and sights throughout the area. We love the comfy home and there is a spacious kitchen fully equipped for all of our cooking. The hottub is relaxing after snowshoe or ski tours. Casa De Luz is perfectly situated to reach Taos ski valley or many trails for other activities. We will hopefully return next year.

We have used VRBO for a few years and are generally happy with the results, but this time, we were thrilled! Casa De Luz is everything it says it is and more! The place is easily accessible to skiing, has everything you need for a great weekend and is darn cute, to boot! We skied for 3 days and the hot tub was a joy to come 'home' to. The owners are very responsive and easy to work with and we had an absolutely wonderful time! We would return in a heartbeat! Thanks so much for the terrific time!

Casa de Luz is heavenly!

Date of Stay: 12/26/10 Review Submitted: 01/03/11

My family and I love Casa de Luz! We spent the week after Christmas there and we found everything exactly as promised and more. We arrived a few minutes early and found Alfred preparing for us. He was very helpful and interested in our comfort. The house is absolutely beautiful. It is a charming adobe home set among sagebrush and with the most outstanding mountain views of Wheeler Peak and all of the other surrounding peaks. Two bottles of wine were waiting to be opened and doggie treats for our most important family member. Sharon even left a personally signed note to us and wished my husband a happy birthday!! This house is truly a special place, clean, comfortable, and I just do not know what more anyone could wish for except more time to spend there. The night star show is not to be missed. Sharon made this all so easy and efficient. Please visit this home if you have the chance! Sincere and heartfelt thanks!

The weather was very nice. We were able to open all the doors and windows and enjoy the cool mountain air and some rain. Loved the hot tub. Everything we needed plus some. Sharon was WONDERFUL to work with and made everything so easy.We will be back. Maybe next time we will actually get out of our pj's, get dressed and go do something. But our plan this trip was NOTHING:) Thanks for the GREAT NOTHING. I did not want to go home.

Warm, Relaxing and Welcoming Casa de Luz

Guest: Two Weary Travelers (Santa Fe, NM)

With all of the light pouring in, Casa de Luz is certainly aptly named. Sharon, the owner, was wonderful in helping with all arrangements. The fenced areas were perfect for our pups... Casa de Luz is truly "pet friendly." Great location near town, restaurants and ski basin... yet, Casa de Luz offers privacy, peace and quiet in abundance. The hot tub, view of Mt. Wheeler and a bottle of wine... yeah, life at Casa de Luz is a wonderful thing.

We were a group of 4 friends who wanted a wintry getaway the week after Christmas 2009. Casa de Luz was a great choice. It provided a peaceful, solitary respite in which to recharge and relax; and still afforded great opportunities to take in the Ski Valley and Taos town and surrounding attractions. The home is cozy, warm and well-appointed. The two bedrooms were like two master suites. Neither couple felt like they were missing out on the better room. The hot tub was a great element as well to enjoy the sundowns -- even when it was freezing cold. Sharon and her property manager went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and know that they were available for any question or concern that might come up. But is was a blissful stay and well worth returning on some future occassion.

A Perfect Casa!

Date of Stay: 11/25/09 Review Submitted: 04/28/10

My visit to Casa de Luz was amazing! My first contact with the owner, on the telephone, was so warm and welcoming I felt confident I was making the right choice! When I arrived, it was even more apparent. I opened the door to a light-filled open floor plan that was beautifully and comfortably decorated. There was a binder filled with information on local restaurants, sights to see, maps etc. Beds were super comfortable, the split bedroom-bathroom arrangement provided lots of privacy; perfect for two couples, and the patio, with the hot tub, was the perfect place to unwind after a busy day. Casa de Luz was also in a very convenient location, just a 5 minute drive to most everything. As if all this weren't enough, Casa de Luz boasted a big, completely fenced in backyard that provided a safe haven for my dogs and lots of room for them to run and play. At the end of our stay, none of us wanted to leave! Casa de Luz was the perfect refuge and it was one of the best vacation rental experiences I have ever had! I highly recommend it!

My wife and I stayed in this house for a week in mid-October 2009. The house is ideally located in the sagebrush north of town. It is perhaps five minutes from the plaza and fifteen minutes, or less, from TSV. Though there are other houses nearby it is in a quiet location - I saw only a few people all week. There are great views to the mountains from several rooms - stunning sunrises and sunsets. There are many windows in the house and great light throughout. We did not use it very often but the large kitchen looked well equipped. There is a dining table that will, I think, seat six. A washer and dryer are also present. The house has fast wifi. Both bedrooms are nicely sized as are the bathrooms. There were more than enough towels, etc. The beds are not kings but they are comfortable and of nice size. The living room has a couple of chairs and I think a sleeper sofa though we never pulled it out to check. There is a small television with a DVD player in the living room and another TV in one of the bedrooms, both with satellite service. There is also a sound system which we did not use. There is a large backyard with a grill. The house has a small private side yard, off the bedrooms, with a nice hot tub which we used almost every evening. There are beautiful views of the night sky from the hot tub. The house was clean. The owner was easy to get in touch with and very helpful. Check in and check out are "self serve" as are most properties on VRBO and was easy. A pager number is provided for a local property manager in case of any problems but we had no occasion to use it. We had a great low-key week in Taos staying at this house and plan on staying here again the next time we are in the area.

This was our first visit to Casa Del Luz but certainly not the last! Casa del Luz is the perfect home for a comfortable and peaceful get away plus the views from the hot tub are nothing short of spectacular. I also have to add how wonderful the property owners are. We left some items in the home on our departure that I assumed would be gone forever. Instead, the owners really went over and above to see that they were returned to me. Thank you so much! I can't wait for our next visit.

The magic of Taos & Casa de Luz's setting in the beautiful snowy mountains, tree lights glistening in the night, the smell of pinon in the air, and the warmth of Casa de Luz told us it's Christmas. What a privilege to be the first guests in this beautiful casa. We enjoyed it so much and we hope to come back again. Thank you for the hospitality.
