Penticton house description

We offer the beauty of the mountains, fresh air and fresh well water, a vegetable garden with lots of greens when they are ready, as well as some new chickens. They may be laying sometime this summer but if you have kids, they'll love to help feed them. This is a working hobby farm and we are just getting underway. Two milking goats are arriving later this summer.

If anyone is interested in Yoga, we have a resident Kudalini instructor who will be doing daily yoga exercises. People are welcome to join her every morning at 6 AM.

The mountain behind the property is steep and great for hiking and exploring. There are often wild horses grazing on the fields behind us and lots of wonderful views to see if you can take the 45 minute hike to the top.

Down the road is Apex Guest Ranch and they have trail rides all summer for very reasonable rates.

Come join us in our corner of paradise. It's rough and ready and reality at it's best.

Penticton benefits from its unique setting between Okanagan and Skaha Lakes. Bounded by forested ridges, clay bank cliffs and granite bluffs with easy access to mountain lakes and winter resorts, there's a strong focus on outdoor recreation that can be experienced in all seasons.

But Penticton is also centred in Okanagan wine country and rich agricultural lands provide fresh ingredients for local menus, making this a growing food and wine destination with an abundance of urban attractions for culturally-minded visitors.

Water Activities
With the beaches of Okanagan Lake to the north and Skaha Lake to the south, summer in Penticton is the time to get wet. Swim, fish, kayak, wakeboard, water ski, jet ski, windsurf and kite surf. On Okanagan Lake, beginners try a tandem flight, experts fly solo, with Penticton Parasail Adventures. Board the Casabella Princess for an afternoon cruise.

Skaha Lake is home to even more adventure with excellent conditions for wind and kite surfers. Public boat launch areas on both lakes provide easy access for visitors towing their own boats and all the toys are readily available for rent.

For the ultimate lazy summer day, join the party floating the Okanagan River Channel that connects the two lakes. Rent a tube from Coyote Cruises or bring one and take their shuttle. Anglers cast a line in the big lakes or take to the high country.

Land Activities
Hiking and cycling trails abound in and around Penticton. Stroll the Kiwanis Promenade along Okanagan Beach, follow the pathway beside the Okanagan River Channel or set off for Munson Mountain lookout. Take to the countryside for a quiet ride through vineyards and orchards, check out the scenery and historic sites on the KVR (Kettle Valley Railway) Trail or head to Ellis Canyon in the highlands. To jack up the adrenaline, mountain bikers attack the technical challenges of Three Blind Mice trails, while rock climbers tackle the world famous Skaha Bluffs.

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 2002

About the owner: Our corner of paradise is owned by 4 of us: Anne, a recent widower, 1 son, Regan, and 2 daughters, Meredith and Colleen. Two grandsons, Iian (10) and Rio (4) are also here to help entertain the guests, take care of the animals, pick the raspberries and do some weeding.

                  Why the Owner Chose Penticton:
Grandpa was raised around Penticton and returned here with his family after retirement. He remembers Penticton when it was all orchards and gardens, with only 5000 people, and not the 40,000 here now.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Kids love this place because of the animals and the other kids here to show them around. The trampoline holds great attraction. Even when it is scorching hot in town, there's always a breeze out here at night to cool things off and keep the insects gone.
