This beautiful Pacific Northwest home was designed by the well-known architectural firm of Lawrence & Hazen in 1962. The architects cleverly brought the out-of-doors impression into the home with tall windows and cathedral ceiling. The lower level of the home was fully remodeled in 2013 into a bright and welcoming open concept apartment that has all the amenities of home.
Wood flooring with scatter rugs cast a warm atmosphere throughout the apartment. All new furnishing include a sofa with chaise that opens into a queen bed with a memory foam mattress providing exquisite night’s sleep. A pair of comfy club chairs is perfect for reading or watching the 32” Samsung HD TV (with Comcast Infinity Cable/WiFi). A large square tile topped coffee table provides space for serving snacks or playing games. Towers flanking the chaise include storage for linens, books, games, CDs, and DVDs.
A touch of the remote control lights the gas fireplace, providing warmth and a cozy ambiance. Tall windows span the front of the living area and continue around the corner, providing an abundance of natural light and connecting the living area to the outdoors private patio and lush landscape. The apartment's array of recessed LED fixtures and outdoor solar security lights assure excellent lighting after dark.
The fully equipped kitchen features new stainless steel appliances. An 8-ft. long granite counter top ties the kitchen to the dining area, providing abundant workspace and under counter storage. The dining table, with seating for six, offers room for family and friends to dine, play games, or work on jigsaw puzzles.
The bathroom has a granite topped vanity, tiled shower/tub area, and tiled floors. Bright lighting over the vanity and an operable window over the tub area provides sufficient lighting for grooming.
A wide window in the bedroom provides natural light and a view of the outside foliage, but can be closed to assure total privacy. The queen size bed has a 'reader friendly', slanted headboard and is flanked by roomy nightstands with bright lamps for bedtime reading. The mattress is equipped with advanced comfort zones to assure a restful night. A large closet with a dresser provides room for unpacking.
Your guest home will be stocked with coffee, tea, milk, orange juice, English muffins, butter & jam so it is not necessary to stop for these groceries before you arrive.

The location of this residence is in the center of magnificent parks, trails, Children's Hospital and University of Washington. Magnuson Park is only 2 blocks away, and provides swimming, tennis, biking and a boat launch. The popular Off-Leash Area brings together not only canines, but opportunities for forging friendship with other owners. Mathew's Beach is only 2 1/2 miles north of Magnuson Park and allows beach access as well abundant forestry. Three miles west of the residence will take you to Ravenna Park, unbelievable territory with ponds, waterfalls, walking trails, bridges and mountainous trails for those who enjoy climbing. My grandchildren, nieces and nephews love the park and are always clamoring to get up there and start exploring. It makes one feel they are in the middle of the Cascades
Year Purchased: 1961
About the owner: Even as a child, I loved to create things and soon began experimenting sewing simple clothes, for my dolls then for myself. With this background, I majored in Home Economics at the University of Alberta and then continued my studies at the University of Washington where I earned a Master's degree in Historical Dress and later my PhD in Curriculum Instruction. When we moved into our new home, my my creative bent helped me in designing our home and landscaping the yard? When we moved to Seattle, I continued my studies at the University of Washington, earning a Masters of Arts degree in Historical Dress and later a PHD in Curriculum Instruction. In 1972, I was hired to teach Apparel Design and History of Costume at Seattle Pacific University. My passion for the arts translated perfectly when we moved into our new home. It was a delight create new color schemes, window treatments, and even landscaping the yard. nd to shrubs and flowers. My love of the arts carried through into decorating our new rental home with my daughter Roberta. It was a pleasure imagining who the guests might be, what they might need and what they would enjoy. We look forward to meeting our first guests.
Why the Owner Chose Wedgwood: When my (ex)husband and I began searching for a home, we were impressed with this quiet family friendly neighborhood. We spent months looking at homes, but did not seem to find what we had in mind. One day we sighted a vacant lot crowded with huge evergreens and lush foliage and were convinced this was to be the site of our new home. We hired architects to design the home and were delighted with their creatively in blending the natural Pacific Northwest beauty into the architecture of the home.
When our family was older, we recognized how fortunate we were to be surrounded by excellent schools and close access to recreational areas, shopping centers and medical facilities.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment: We fell in love with our home even before we moved in and to this day feel blessed to enjoy the beauty of the home and the grand out-of-doors. The home is designed with tall windows and cathedral ceilings that bring the lush verdant flora into every area of the home. My daughter, Roberta, and I enjoy sitting on the front deck, watching daylight turn into dusk.
This has always been a quiet, friendly neighborhood. When taking your dog(s) for walks, or just taking a walk alone, you will enjoy the openness and friendliness of the the neighbors.
