About the owner: I am a working artist and member of the Rocky Neck Art Colony. My studio is situated between our house and The Willow House, tying the two structures together. Why the Owner Chose Gloucester: We are in a quiet garden setting, but at the same time so close to a bustling small city, rich with history, places to visit and things to do. We have beaches, wildlife, and sunsets over the ocean, a wealth of cultural events and restaurants- all within an incredibly friendly community. This area of Gloucester feels like a village, with everything one needs or desires close by, and we often feel that we are on vacation- right here at home.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment: My husband and I love living in this area that has inspired so many artists: Fitz Henry Lane, Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper, John Sloan, and Marsden Hartley- to name just a few.
We cherish being able to walk to Rocky Neck for breakfast at Sailor Stan's, dinner at The Rudder, or for a freshly baked muffin and a newspaper at The Last Stop. We love to stroll to the end of the Neck to see the old Copper Paint Factory (now the headquarters for Ocean Alliance), and through America's oldest shipyard (Gloucester Marine Railways) to see the boats being worked on. The beauty here is intense and genuine.
